Thanks for the pointers to games like Loom pennmom . Havent played most of them so dont know how Loom-like they are, but a couple stray comments:
- Bad Dream: Coma - dont know that I think this is at all like Loom, but it is a rollicking fun game. We played it in a group play at Pond Friends & enjoyed its wry approach. Decisions do have consequences and lots of different endings and game paths are possible (though I thought "my" concept of the best "happy" ending was way better than the author's). Well worth a play if you havent already given it a try
- I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream - Got this for free on a Gog giveaway ages ago & it has since been just sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to get around to playing it. Its purported similarity to Loom gives me new incentive to finally get to it! :-)
- The Secret of Monkey Island - dont know anything about this game, but did note the following comments about it on wikipedia in relation to Loom that I thought were interesting: As was typical for LucasArts, several other games referenced the Loom characters and storyline. A likeness of Bishop Mandible's assistant Cob can be found inside the Scumm Bar in The Secret of Monkey Island (1990), dressed as a pirate with a badge on his shirt that says "Ask me about Loom," and will happily divulge marketing information when so asked. Monkey Island's protagonist, Guybrush Threepwood, can say "I'm Bobbin. Are you my mother?" on a number of occasions throughout the series, and in The Curse of Monkey Island (1997) can quip about Bobbin's relative obscurity. Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2 (1991), and Day of the Tentacle (1993) all include a credit for their respective seagulls as "Seagull appears courtesy of LOOM™".

Finally done. I really enjoyed this game. Does anyone know of any games similar? What did you enjoy about it? The musical component? The humor? The gameplay?
If it was the distinctly Lucas Arts flavor, I can give you some suggestions: Grim Fandango Remastered Full Throttle Remastered Day of the Tentacle Remastered The Secret of Monkey Island or any of the Monkey Island games Sam & Max Hit the Road
If it was the humor, I can give you a few of my recent favorites. These rated a 10 on the Just Flat Out Fun scale for me.
Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure Tangle Tower Detective Grimoire The Hand of Glory

Oh my goodness I haven't checked in for a few days and am so happy to see all the suggestions. It is appreciated. I loved that the loom was so different in story and gameplay. No car accidents, lost children, or red eyed monsters. No screw driving coins, house keys inside the wall of a neighbor's house, or wild life with no fear of humans. It was fun to be a wizard and puzzle out which spells to use in each situation and of course earning all the skills from C to C.

good2bqueen , The older I get, the more I just want to have fun with a game (Cue the Cyndi Lauper tune!) I want a good story that keeps me engaged, interesting graphics, puzzles that make sense and advance the narrative and a sense of satisfaction when I'm done. I loved Myst a hundred years or so ago and especially those diabolical puzzles. But I've never replayed it and, now, don't even have a desire to revisit. I skip most of the puzzles in HOPA games unless they're different and interesting. Been there, done that and life is too short to cross that bridge again. I really am a cranky old gamer.
Couple more recommendations: Anna's Quest and Night of the Rabbit. Rabbit, with it's sweet and sentimental story, reached the exalted level of "sublime" for me. The Blackwell games are superb and you need to play them all in order. I will forever be in love with Joey.

Jo, I guess we're old gamers of the same heart lol. I appreciate the suggestions and hopefully have enough to keep me busy for a bit. I own so so many games and only a fraction of them would I replay. Seems like such a waste. This lull in HOPAs has me rethinking my future purchasing habit.
As for the song, whenever I hear it I go back to a day I spent raking up giant piles of leaves to jump in with my daughters and the song came on the radio while we were playing.

You can play the FREE demo to try it out and, after you buy it, don't forget to download the FREE short game The Hand of Glory - The Blowtorch Files just released on May 9, 2022 which is actually an introduction to the world of Lazarus Bundy.

That is one heck of a great deal! And well worth repeating.
Anyone who wants to play some classic and excellent adventure games should run right over to Steam and get this bundle. But you have to hurry because it's over in 25 hours from right now. For the same price as the Daily Deal at BF you get five games and hours and hours of fun gameplay.
On your mark! Get set! GO!

It includes:
The Night of the Rabbit The Whispered World Special Edition Silence Anna's Quest Candle Deponia Doomsday
Leaves - The Journey Leaves - The Return
Remember that if you already own any of the games at Steam that are offered in a Steam bundle, Steam only charges you for the games you don't have and still gives you the discount. I own Anna's Quest and both of the Leaves games. My price is $2.97 for all of the rest. And you actually get to double-dip.
You get the game discount (90%) and then the bundle discount (67%) off the sale price of the game.
The problem is that I already own the rest at GOG and I paid more than $2.97 for them.

Wow, Jo, nice feature for Steam to not charge for bundle elements you already own! Sadly, my copies of both Leaves games were bought at BFG and certainly at far more than the 69 cents they are being charged at in the Steam bundle (both are a real steal at that price!).

Jo, I purchased the Artist Bundle a while back because it had more of a variety where the other bundles were mostly Deponia versions Leaves is fantastic and I'll probably play Candle next!
