This game will drive me bonkers.
I collected the laundry and the clothespins. Which opened the way for the Nuts. Also the 6 Purple Vials.
Well, cannot get the last Nut cause its in the furnace which cannot be cooled down until I can collect the water to cool it down which will not pop up in my to-do box no matter how much clicking I do. :-/
I am heading out and will tackle this lunacy later.

Just started what I believe is chapter 5. At the end of chapter 4 there is a conversation with a private detective which is very interesting and very deja vuish. I'm not playing a game I'm living it Goofy

Finally got to start the game. It's nice to have a game I already know how to navigate. Off topic question, how long do you wait around at a doctor's office before it's acceptable to walk out? I lasted 2 1/2 hours mostly spent in the exam room then left. Worst part is I have to reschedule and do it all again. Gggrrrrr. Back to the game and into my happy place.

I haven't figured out this weird plot It is a cautionary tale warning us of the inherent dangers of our gleeful willingness to suspend reality for extended periods of time, accepting, without hesitation, fanciful concepts that cannot exist in the real world and the consequences of our heedless inattentiveness to factual materiality.

Thanks to this group play---I was able to get a hint. It turns out the last Nut wasen't in the hot furnace. It was just in a place where you needed a magnifying glass. Or a hint to show you. So--I can now move on.

I exited the game last night in Chapter 5 while I was in the harp room. Everything was working just fine. Today my cursor doesn't work to activate anything in the game except the Menu and Hint icons. I have no little feet to exit the room when I click on the exit arrow or any other kind of active cursor. I looked in Discussions on the Community Hub and found one other person who had this problem in the same spot but with no suggestions except to change to system cursor. Tried that, didn't work. I've restarted the game to no avail and will restart my whole computer when I eat lunch. Previously, I was only quitting when I reached the end of a chapter. This time it was in the middle of a chapter. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. So I may be done with Varenje.
By the way, I found a post on the Community Hub about the meaning of the word Varenje with a wiki link.It sounds like what I would call a fruit compote.

Well, I restarted my computer and it didn't help at all. So I did the only thing available besides quitting. I took a hint and it took me to the next room. I had little feet and an interactive cursor. I went back to the harp room and my elevator was gone so I took another hint. After that the game worked fine. I had to take a couple more hints because I'm a dolt and couldn't figure out that I had to
{Spoiler} climb a spoon handle to get the next room
and
{Spoiler} use another spoon as a catapult.
I finished it.
What a strange game! Here, in pictorial form, is my overall reaction:

I finished it up earlier today. There were a couple of puzzles I had to skip cause I just didn't get them-like the musical notes one. There were a couple I did that I found myself wondering what did I do? Whatever it was, it was right.
Ok-I know this game is a little weird; but when I dl/d and started playing the game opened in the middle of Chapter 1. I thought I must've started and quit. But as I went through each Chapter, I knew I had played the whole game. Not sure what that was about..
Enjoyed replaying it-though it drove me nuts at times

I really am glad we played Varenje. I've had it from Steam for a long time and needed the little formal push from the group to finally play it. I'm still shaking my head about what a wacky game it was. It poked fun at games, gamers and itself. The whole premise of games inciting violence, especially after playing Super Mario, made me laugh. I think psycho dude would have killed people after playing solitaire. And who doesn't love a disembodied, judgemental moose? One of the things that I really liked about it was that it didn't hold your hand. One of the things I didn't like about it was that it didn't hold your hand. I got a lot of satisfaction out of finally figuring it out on my own but I had to skip at least six puzzles because I couldn't figure out what to do. A couple of puzzles didn't even do anything that might have given me a clue after fiddling with them for ten minutes. I probably should have use the strategy guide. I liked the hint mechanism. It wasn't hard to do but you had to earn that darn hint so it made me consider whether I really needed it or not. I liked that it showed where to use an inventory item because not knowing would have made it too frustrating to finish. I liked that codes were hidden within the game and you had to pay attention to catch them. I loved the music. Usually I turn the music off in a game but I enjoyed every minute of this soundtrack. This game really did not have a purpose or conclusion unless it was to make jam at the end. Rather than a logical progression of plot points with a beginning and an end, the purpose was simply the journey through a brightly colored and completely loony world where nothing made sense but was a ton of fun to figure out. If I never see another almond I'll be happy. At first I was feeling a little manipulated by the game but finally just stopped worrying about anything making sense or proceeding in a conventional manner and just rode the Varenje wave. We'll never know why the protagonist was institutionalized (best guess - for playing Varenje) or if he ever got out. This was a completely unique game for me and well worth the effort of playing. Now I'm wonder if the Doodle God series, the other games from JoyBits, are as insane.

angie60, smitty189, pennmom, good2bqueen, Jo, I'm finally finished and heading to the pool! I had to skip the Chapter 6 puzzle with the colored squares with a gear, lever, pink square and light bulb...never could figure it out. I also skipped the spider web puzzle cuz it was plain ole annoying! Weird game but I'm weird too!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Ok, so I know I'm a day late and a dollar short (well, 2 weeks late and who knows how many dollars short!) but.... Could someone who completed the ice cream puzzle in Chapter 7 please tell me what the aim was? Forced me into my first puzzle skip in the game and it seemed there were far too many combinations to try to brute force it. For those of you who may have forgotten - this puzzle had 3 flavors of ice cream (green, yellow, and red) and a grid with selected paths and 8 red moveable gates. Aim seemed to be to set the gates properly so when the scoops at the top were released, they would presumably land in the "right" cones at the bottom. Seemed like after the gates were properly set, one might(?) need to select moves at each intersection so that the scoops moved properly?? Didnt see anything to control directions at intersections, but never got past the point of setting the gates and nothing else seemed to move till then and there was a symbol with a red slash through it in the lower left corner (which I assumed was waiting for me to get the gates right before it eliminated its red slash??). Looked for a walkthrough, but couldnt find one that showed a solution. Wish now I'd sprung for the extra 50 cents & bought the version with a strategy guide at Steam! Anyhow, can anyone explain to me what this puzzle was all about, or if there was some other movement mechanism that I overlooked?? Thanks!

I farted around with this puzzle for the longest time and never could get the ice cream to flow. I thought maybe you had to make one color at a time but there weren't enough gates for that. I don't think I ever got the little gates right and finally just skipped it.
After I got done with the game, I wanted to see what the soundtracks were like so went to the Varenje folder. I forgot that I had the strategy guide. I just looked at it for your puzzle and it's . It only shows all the hidden object, not any of the puzzle solutions. But I did find a screenshot of the puzzle with the gates in the right place on Steam.

Thanks Jo. Odd though - my recollection is that the cones at the bottom were (from left to right) green, red, and yellow. Yet with the gates as shown, there is NO way for the yellow scoop at the top left to get to the bottom right position - all the gates allowing it to go right are closed....umm, unless somehow the colored blocks somehow become crossable. Those colored blocks were just empty spaces (ie, not traversable squares) prior to getting the gates correct. Sorry now I did not ask my question before skipping, 'cause otherwise I could go back & see what happens once the gates are properly set..too much trouble to work all the way back to that spot now. Hmmm, on the other hand, I did not try moving the colored blocks at the bottom (ie, the G,R,Y) to different cones while I was unsuccessfully trying to work the puzzle. I did find it strange that Steam gave me all the awards (26/26) - including the one for completing all puzzles - even though I skipped this one!

I'm yet to start with this game - lagging behind, as always. But, if I don't play it now, I may never play it.
Good to read all the posts upfront! Getting the smarts (and farts) how to get around some puzzles. I already see myself frantically clicking the skip and hint buttons.
