Australia is a BIG LAND! And we only have 25 million people! We get to spread our wings LOL! NO..we all have to live around the edge near the coast as the middle is useless desert. Few GIGANTIC cattle stations out there and rocket ranges..but not much else! :D

Today's cookup here reminded me of a fun fact..I made what most call burger patties. However here in Australia, if you are NOT putting them between a burger bun and are just eating them with veg or salad on a plate..(and probably with a sauce or gravy on top)..they are called RISSOLES. (I dont know why..its just how we roll !)

joybelle, thanks for posting the map showing the size of Australia; it’s amazing. It’s interesting how residents live around the coast because the center is uninhabitable. As for the Rissoles, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a burger without a bun, lol.

joybelle, kiwichic, the coastal areas where residents reside don’t look much safer than the inhabitable interior, lol!

Just imagine a thin band of nice civilised cities..and people who dont swim too far out into the sea. But yes we DO have lots of deadlies. And the convicts settled the land in the late 1700's..(sent out on ships by Britain to empty their jails) so we just have ordinary crims now like anybody else We call the native ppl that were here aboriginal (first nation people)..been here for 40.000 yrs..but white settlement is only a few hundred yrs. First landing 1770 by Capt Cook. Flies though are everywhere. We have a saying..'The great Aussie salute'..us flicking the flies away More like a queens wave to the crowd really. But the further out of the cities you go the more there are..All the crocs are confined to up North as it is tropical.. and grows banana's and pineapples and palm trees etc ..and the southern half is much cooler and has four proper seasons and grows veggies and potatoes etc. And down in Tasmania where those tassie devils live (they are a native creature there called Tasmanian Devils..google it) They are nice and indeed..they are the closest land mass to Antartica. So its quite a mixed land with all that size.

Lol, joybelle, we sure have enough criminals here across the seas. It was the predators I was referring to. Thank you for describing the land use in the distinct areas. Very intriguing your country is.
