joybelle, Most of my information about Australia is from watching various Aussie TV shows. The first one I ever watched was Spirited which is a Ghost and Mrs. Muir gone Aussie rock and roll. Loved it. Recently I watched Mystery Road which I found fascinating in part because of the landscape and part because I learned about road trains. It's an excellent show with interesting stories and great acting..

My mom lived in Australia for a year in her early 20s so I've grown up with various stories of her time there. She loved it more than she ever loved anything ever again so I try to find movies and shows for her that are at least filmed there, if not taking place there. A couple favorites are Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and Dance Academy. Nice scenery at times!

This song tugs at the heart of all Aussies.. This clip shows a few snapshots of our diverse scenery..from our tropical north, to our cooler south..and our arid desert inland. Plus most of the wildlife..gosh.. It's even got a 'real life' Bluey and Bingo in it!

Well you have probably all heard a didgeridoo on OZ music tracks. This is how the aboriginal people make their traditional instrument in outback lands. The sounds in the background are a didgeridoo. They are just amazing! I always wonder who 40,000 years ago sitting on a rock in the middle of the desert thought...'I reckon we can make an instrument out of this'??! I

Well it's a big weekend down under. The Australian Rules Football Grand Final! Tomorrow (Friday) in my state (Victoria) we even get a public holiday! The final is not till Saturday, but it is ALWAYS played in Vic (because the game originated there, and we have the biggest stadium) My team won the final last year...but we got knocked out this year. But FLY you gladiators!! (PS..you are not allowed to punch each other...they just do it anyway and take their penalty..LOL!!) This is the 'football' Anthem. It's really quite moving to hear 100,000+ people singing this chorus!
