No Pants Subway Ride Day – January 9, 2022~U.S.
No Pants Subway Ride Day takes place in early January every year, on January 9 this year, and the official date is announced a month before it in early December. It is an annual event where — as the name suggests — people ride the subway (or other rapid transit) with no pants on. Interestingly, it has been observed in different parts of the world in over 60 cities since 2002! Improv Everywhere organizes the event, and they have coordinators worldwide to make sure everyone knows and follows the instructions for this crazy holiday.
HISTORY OF NO PANTS SUBWAY RIDE DAY The idea behind this amusing day came from Charlie Todd from Improv Everywhere back in 2002. The idea was simple — to confuse (and hopefully amuse) bystanders. Seven male participants all boarded a subway car at different stops, decked up in winter gear from head to toe with one catch — they had no pants on. In a hidden camera video from the scene, the other passengers look confused at first and then break into laughter. It was a light-hearted prank that quickly gained popularity.
The following year, there were about 30 participants, including women. With every year, the number of participants grows rapidly. The instructions for the event are simple — to nonchalantly enter the subway car pantless from different stops, pretending not to know any of the other participants. When asked about the pantlessness, the response should be that you forgot them or that they were getting uncomfortable. What adds to the comedic aspect is the choice of bottoms that people make. From SpongeBob boxers to funny quotes, “no pants” does not mean “no fun!” However, not everyone finds the prank funny. Over the years, participants of the event have run into trouble with law enforcement. Eight people were handcuffed in New York City in 2006, and many were investigated in 2016 in Moscow, Russia. All charges were dropped later, though. A group was even yelled at by a subway conductor over the P.A. once.
With that being said, many do find it to be amusing. The event has garnered incredible media coverage over the years. This annual event has been organized by Improv Everywhere for nearly two decades now, with thousands of participants worldwide. The coordinators are in about 60 cities, and people in more than 25 countries participate annually. What started as a small prank is now a worldwide event as No Pants Subway Ride Day every year.

Play God Day – January 9, 2022~U.S.
Play God Day is observed every year on January 9. While the name can suggest reenactment of some sort, this day is there to do something nice for someone other than yourself. The idea behind it is to “play God” for someone by doing something that reflects or represents God’s blessings. So, what would you do if you were God for a day? We came up with a few suggestions like paying for someone’s meal or groceries, offering to help someone in need, even if it’s just to cross the street, or getting involved in social issues that will make a lasting impact. The possibilities are endless!
HISTORY OF PLAY GOD DAY It is difficult to pinpoint the exact period when the concept of God came into existence. There is no consensus on who, when, what, where, or how the concept of God originated. In fact, there is no real consensus on what or who God is. Each culture and religion has its version of God, and there are even subversions within these cultures and religions. While there are main characteristics of God that different groups agree on, each individual has their meaning and beliefs. In a general sense, however, it is commonly believed that God stands for a higher power, has an eternal and essential existence, is omnipotent and omnipresent, and is the Creator of all beings. Additionally, there is a widely shared faith in God to bless and guide everyone through a good life.
The concept of Play God Day doesn’t come from a particular religious or cultural belief but from the basic idea that God is good to everyone, and we should be too. Play God Day is a day to make a kind gesture without a selfish intent, much like God would. These gestures don’t have to be miraculous or life-changing. All you have to do is make someone’s day just a little bit better than it would be otherwise.
Just imagine what it would be like to be God for one day. Think about the things you would do or the problems you would fix. While several of those things may be out of your ability as a human, there will be some things that you can take baby steps towards on this day. For instance, if you would eliminate world hunger as God, donate to a food bank on Play God Day. While we don’t need an excuse to be nice to others, Play God Day is a great opportunity to do so.

National Oysters Rockefeller Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
The National Oysters Rockefeller Day on January 10 is a day that celebrates the history of the dish, Oysters Rockefeller and how it stood the test of time. Oysters have been around for 180 million years and Neolithic men consumed vast quantities of oysters 5,000 years ago. Today, humans have reached the peak dish made of these shellfish, namely Oysters Rockefeller. This is a luxurious baked dish crafted in the French Quarter of Louisiana.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER DAY Oysters Rockefeller is an innovation in the art of cooked oysters and is loved by people across the world. The history behind the invention of this dish is fascinating. A humble -owned restaurant in New Orleans established by Antoine Alciatore — Antoine’s Restaurant — specialized in dishes made with snails in the late 1850s. At the end of the 1880s, there was a shortage of European snails. This was when Jules Alciatore, the son of Antoine Alciatore, decided to replace snails with locally sourced oysters. He combined a butter sauce with green vegetables and invented a rich dish with oysters as the primary ingredient. It was so extremely rich that it was named after the millionaire, John D. Rockefeller, who was the wealthiest man at the time.
In just a few months, grilled Oysters Rockefeller became a popular dish across America and then across the world. Many chefs and restaurants now serve their variant of Oysters Rockefeller. The original recipe is a closely guarded secret. It has been lab-tested and some of the ingredients, including parsley and chives, were figured out, but the original has never been copied successfully. Today, Antoine’s restaurant is serving hundreds of servings of this dish every day and has dished up millions of portions of Oysters Rockefeller since that first. Antonie’s celebrates this day by offering orders of Oysters Rockefeller for just $5 for those in New Orleans.

Peculiar People Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
Peculiar People Day on January 10 is our opportunity to recognize and celebrate those who refuse to conform to the world’s idea of normal. It is always the people who are termed ‘peculiar’, ‘different’, ‘strange’, or ‘abnormal’ that set the world in motion because they live “out of the box”. They refuse to accept and live by the status quo and have the courage to do and be different. Whenever the world has seen innovation, it has always been the idea and effort of someone who just didn’t accept things as they are. So, let’s honor those uniquely different people on this day.
HISTORY OF PECULIAR PEOPLE DAY The world thinks that there is a proper way to do everything, and most people act by the common norms in society. Others like to break away from what the world terms ’normal’ and do things their way. Everyone has their peculiar habits, whether you simply dress in your style, or have a better and more daring way of doing things that others won’t do. The concept of what is right and normal differs for everyone, and artists and inventors throughout history proved this.
The origin and inventor of Peculiar People Day are unknown. The term ‘peculiar people’ is derived from the phrase ‘chosen people’ from the Bible book Deuteronomy. It means “set apart” or “treasured people”, which is a wonderful way of looking at ourselves and other people. If we see ourselves as valuable, we make valuable differences to the world around us.
Society calls the people who do things differently than others ‘peculiar’ people. Instead of it being a negative tag, it is a badge of honor, because being different takes a courageous, adventurous, and inquisitive nature. Swimming upstream brings about change, and peculiar people are particular about not accepting harsh, unfair, or unjust systems. Part of the resilience and strength of people who make a difference has been their stance to stay true to themselves and not conform. They took the punch to be real and developed their belief in themselves by staying that way.

National Save The Eagles Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
National Save the Eagles Day on January 10 is a day to raise awareness about eagles and to give thanks for the conservation efforts to prevent their extinction. Did you know that there are more than 60 different species of eagles in the world? The bald eagle and the golden eagle are the only two species of eagles found in the U.S. As poaching, pesticides, human intervention, and other dangers continue to threaten eagle populations across the world, we need to come together to save and protect these majestic creatures, the symbol of American freedom.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL SAVE THE EAGLES DAY Eagles are among the strongest and most magnificent birds of prey. Bald eagles are so special that they are celebrated as the symbol of strength, independence, and beauty in the U.S. The history of the National Save the Eagles Day is an inspiring story. It started in the village of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. It was mid-winter, the perfect nesting season for bald eagles, and a pair of eagles, fondly named Alice and Al, had nested along Overpeck Creek since 2011.
In 2014, Skymark Development Corporation of Paramus highlighted a study stating that a landfill near an eagles’ nest posed community health risks. As a part of the solution to mitigate the local health risks, they argued to remove the tree the eagles nested in. When this announcement was made public, the local community and the Bergen County Audubon Society organized Save The Eagles Day on January 10, 2015.
Soon, an agreement was reached between both sides to preserve the part of the land as eagle park. Alice and Al continued to nest in the same location and lived there for several years, and today there is a new pair that made their home in the same nest.
Today there are many laws such as the Endangered Species Act that protect the welfare of eagles. Due to the continued effort of conservationists and the government, many species of eagles that were on the verge of extinction are now increasing in numbers. So let’s celebrate, save and support the welfare of eagles on this inspiring day.

National Houseplant Appreciation Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
By mid-January, most of our various holiday decorations and Christmas trees have made their way out of our homes. National Houseplant Appreciation Day is on January 10 every year, and it reminds us that we don’t have to lose the freshness and vibrancy that plants bring to our homes just because the holidays have drawn to a close. If you have the post-holiday blues, this is the perfect chance for you to brighten up your house with a lovely plant that you can enjoy all year long. But houseplants do more than just bring a splash of green into our homes, and National Houseplant Appreciation Day is all about raising awareness of the numerous benefits of tending an indoor plant. Houseplants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen for us to breathe, improving the air quality in your home. Plants also release moisture into the air, conditioning it with refreshing humidity that can actually make your house feel cooler! What’s more, many houseplants are easy to care for and have an array of household uses that help you save money. Whether your green thumb has driven you to amass an impressive indoor garden or you’re just kicking around the idea of a low-maintenance cactus for your desk, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and join us in bringing the outdoors inside on National Houseplant Appreciation Day.

National Fourth Graders Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
National Fourth Graders Day is celebrated on the second Monday in January, which this year is January 10. Fourth-grade students are taking on more challenges in math, reading, writing, social studies, science, as well as art, music, world language, and physical education. They work hard, yet still are guided by a wonderful imagination. They really shine when they are in charge of their own learning and usually shimmer brightest when they are able to use their creativity along with their newly-acquired skills. Let’s celebrate the magic of being 9 or 10 and show the world what fourth graders can do!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL FOURTH GRADERS DAY National Fourth Graders Day was originally the suggestion of two teachers from New Jersey, U.S. Jillian Hagberg and Donna Hennessy are both fourth-grade teachers at the Community Charter School of Paterson who begin each day by having a discussion with their students about the national holiday being observed that day. The fourth graders love learning about the various holidays on the calendar, but noticed that one holiday was missing, National Fourth Graders Day.
Fourth grade is a huge transitional stage for kids. Elementary schools started getting promoted in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1647. Since then, students have been stepping their way up the educational and social ladder. In fourth grade, academic expectations take a big leap, friendships become more genuine, and personalities start taking shape. There is also more emphasis on writing in fourth grade. Along with learning different writing styles, kids have to write longer assignments and learn to be more organized.
An important aspect of fourth grade is to introduce kids to the larger society — how to behave in social situations, honing their communication skills while interacting with others, creating lasting friendships, and respecting those in authority, starting with their teachers. Building close relationships with their classmates and with their class teacher becomes more apparent, as children become more aware of their surroundings. This supportive and harmonious social environment encourages character development and personality growth in children to form what is essentially the extension of a happy .
The Class of 2021 This has been a school year like no other and we want to pay a special tribute to the fourth graders who have persevered through the pandemic and still created some amazing work.

National Cut Your Energy Costs Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
National Cut Your Energy Costs Day on January 10 pays attention to an important, yet often overlooked subject, and is key for a host of reasons. Wasting energy is one of the nastiest things we can do in life, to the planet, to our wallets, and even, fundamentally, to each other. Perhaps most crucially for National Cut Your Energy Costs Day, this is one of those things where just a little bit of effort can pay huge dividends, for example in many cases, the savings you can make can be sufficient to pay for an entire vacation.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL CUT YOUR ENERGY COSTS DAY We are highly dependent on electricity and use a lot of energy to keep our homes warm during the winter and cool during the summer. Heating and cooling costs are some of the most expensive bills that we pay throughout the year and there has been an issue that people have complained about.
Homes account for 22% of the energy usage in the United States, according to Energy.gov. Our lights, chargers, laptops, and televisions are always plugged in. We have numerous options when it comes to saving money and conserving energy in our homes. Simple tasks such as taking shorter showers, keeping thermostats turned down, and unplugging unused appliances can all make a difference. The less energy we use, the better it is for the environment.
National Cut Your Energy Costs Day was first established by the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance. It’s relevance to wider society means that it is observed in numerous places throughout the world, including the U.S and the UK, where the media often choose this day to publish energy-saving tips for their readers.

National Clean Your Desk Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
National Clean Your Desk Day’s all about preparing your workspace for the new year and beginning things on the right note. The holiday falls on the second Monday in January. This year, it’s January 10. Remember, a messy desk is an invitation to chaos! A clean desk, on the other hand, helps you focus, be more productive, and generally makes you feel good about your workspace. And when we say clean we don’t just mean physical clutter. That’s correct, your computer desktop counts too. Drag those files into a nice, neat folder!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL CLEAN YOUR DESK DAY The origin and history of National Clean Your Desk Day are unknown. We wish we knew who was the organized clean-enthusiast who started this celebration. Celebrated on the second Monday of January, it is likely that this holiday is the result of the cluttered desktops pre and post the Christmas season and New Year. Who knows? The holiday may have stemmed from a New Year’s resolution!
It is essential to have a proper workspace for anyone to be productive. Your workstation is your work zone and, if it is not functional, it can impede creativity, the completion of tasks, and workflow. Think about it, don’t we all just hate it when we can’t find a pen or when an important document is buried under the clutter on our desks? It is proven again and again that a well-organized space boosts productivity and allows workers to better focus on work. It’s quite therapeutic, really.
The word ‘desk’ was coined in the 14th century but only became widely used in the 18th century. Desks were mostly used by legal professionals and clergymen but, today, they are found almost everywhere. After the Industrial Revolution, work shifted from intense physical labor to desktops. Before computers became mainstream and most work went digital, drawers (a lot of them) were the way to go for organizing workspaces. After computers became the norm, unnecessary paperwork was gradually disposed of, but with the many USBs and plugins required for maintaining data digitally, we still end up with messy desks!
Students and creative people such as artists, writers, makeup artists, etc., are among those with the messiest desks! Given how important it is to be focused and achieve our work goals, it is wise to spend some time cleaning and organizing our desks, rather than waste hours searching for missing items.

National Bittersweet Chocolate Day – January 10, 2022~U.S.
National Bittersweet Chocolate Day is on January 10 each year. Did you know that in ancient times, bittersweet chocolate was used as a medicine to treat a wide variety of diseases? Bittersweet chocolates are popular all over the world for their unique and intense flavor. It is used in all sorts of chocolate confections and desserts, and some think it’s even better when eaten as is!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE DAY If you belong to the small part of the population for whom the rich, sweet flavor of milk chocolate isn’t just enough to satisfy your chocolate craving, Happy National Bittersweet Chocolate Day!
Bittersweet chocolate is a type of chocolate that does not contain any milk. It is a blend of at least 35% cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, and a minimal amount of sugar. It’s the ratio of cacao to sugar that determines whether the chocolate is bittersweet, semi-sweet, or sweetened. Bittersweet, or dark, chocolate is at least 70% cacao.
The history and origin of the National Bittersweet Chocolate Day are unknown, but the history of chocolates is extensive. According to research, chocolate was first discovered by the Aztec, who used grounded cocoa beans for cooking a bitter beverage. They often cooked it with corn and pepper and gave it a name: ‘xocolatl’. This is the origin of the modern name ‘chocolate’.
When Europeans were taking great voyages across the ocean, a few centuries back, they found the Aztec civilization and were introduced to ‘xocolatl’. However, they did not particularly like the bitter Aztec beverage. They took the cocoa seeds back to Europe and added sugar to the ground cocoa seeds. This gave birth to the chocolate we eat today.
After that, chocolate took many forms, shapes, flavors, and colors, and today we have hundreds of chocolate brands available to satisfy our cravings. So, do we need a special day to celebrate and indulge in chocolates, as we were already doing it daily? Well, bittersweet chocolate just gives us another reason to treat our taste buds.

National Arkansas Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
National Arkansas Day is January 11 every year, and if you are a native or nature lover, this is one of the days you get to celebrate. Created in 1836, Arkansas is the 25th state to be added to the Federation. It is also called the Wonder State or Natural State because of its numerous parks and water bodies, located near the Mississippi River.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL ARKANSAS DAY Arkansas comes from the word ‘acansaw,’ and its territory was initially occupied by native tribes Osage, Caddo, and Quapaw. In 1541, the first European explorer to reach the territory was the Spaniard Hernando de Soto. The land was later explored by Frenchmen, of which the first to settle down was Henri de Tonty in 1681. Henri created a European settlement in the Quapaw village: the Arkansas post.
The Louisiana Purchase, a transaction where French Louisiana was sold to the United States, occurred in 1803, making Arkansas the 25th state to become a part of the Union. The capital of Arkansas is Little Rock, which is also its most populated city. The mockingbird is the Arkansas insignia, its flower is the apple blossom, and its tree is the pine tree.
Arkansas is known for its natural landmarks. It is a center of tourist attractions, with its hot springs, rivers, rocks, and museums to mark its rich history. The state is also popular for quartz, diamonds, and a million-acre forest, truly earning its name as Natural State. The state is also an active agricultural producer of cotton, rice, and soybeans
Arkansas ranks as the 34th most populous (more than 3 million residents) and the 29th largest state in the United States. And its current governor is Asa Hutchinson. So if you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to live, make Arkansas an option to consider.

World Sketchnote Day – January 11, 2022~International
World Sketchnote Day is on January 11 each year. It clinched a place amongst the holidays on the calendar in 2016. The word ‘sketchnotes’ is a composition of the English words for “sketch” and “notes”. The art has a very large fan base. Countless sketchnoters have their say (and their picture) and have created various formats — with classic sketchnotes, drawn recipes (sketchipes), charming travel memories in sketch form, to-do, and shopping lists. The very act of sketchnoting does two things: helps one remember better, and it lifts the mood because of the cute graphics. It is based on good listening skills and the ability to sift information to capture visually what is important.
HISTORY OF WORLD SKETCHNOTE DAY Although traditional history traces the earliest known writings by humans in Mesopotamia between 3400 B.C. and 3300 B.C., note-taking and creative ways of capturing ideas were always in demand. One of the ways of doing this is brainstorming, where groups get together and think creatively and use sketches and words to get to new ideas. Sketchnoting builds on this, with an individual taking notes in an interesting, memorable way.
The earliest reference of sketchnoting — sketch (visuals) + notes (text) dates back to early 2007 when designer, Michael Rohde, decided to experiment with a new approach. This was to enhance comprehension while taking copious notes. While attending a design conference, he had taken just a small pocket-sized notebook, which was too small to write everything. He began listening and analyzing, capturing the big ideas he was hearing, seeing, and thinking about into lettering and drawing. Thus, the process of sketchnoting — sketching + noting — was born. And other people began following.
The art uses the Visual Alphabet, a collection of shapes and symbols that can be used to create a wide variety of sketches. It is much like how letters are joined together to form words. Basic shapes such as dots, circles, lines, waves, triangles, and squares can be rotated, distorted, and combined as desired. People can use the symbols and sketches as they desire, and they build their own enhanced alphabet, built on their meaning associations.

Secret Pal Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
Secret Pal Day is on January 11 and we are stoked to get unusually loud with the person we whisper our secrets to. Secret pals will forever hold a place in our hearts; they are understanding, trustworthy, and a relief from outer emotional baggage and mental stress. Do you know that keeping secrets is detrimental to our health? In a way, a secret pal is a preventive measure for those health risks.
HISTORY OF SECRET PAL DAY The history of Secret Pal Day is still unknown, but it is a great way to celebrate relationships and their impact on our psychological well-being. Secrets are nearly as old as time. Everyone keeps secrets to protect themselves or their relationships, or to uphold a certain image. Children begin to keep secrets as early as five years old. We are so worried about our secrets transpiring that we undergo mental stress while trying to keep them hidden.
We keep secrets by creating a heavy room in our minds and locking up all access to it. This room restricts our thoughts and affects our mental and emotional balance. Being secretive is a lot of strain on the mind, and it severely affects mental health. Keeping secrets not only affects our digestive system but also causes high blood pressure; surprisingly, it also leads to low libido and back pain. Secrets have impacts on our emotional stability. Research has proven that people who keep secrets are susceptible to depression, poor self-confidence, and inferiority complex.
The more our minds wander to the secrets in our heads and make us emotionally distressed. This is what makes our secret pals so special; they are always there to rely on and maintain our confidence. They also lessen our burden by offering advice and care, without making us feel judged or guilty. Sharing secrets helps us to build stronger and long-lasting relationships. On Secret Pal Day, we make cheers to our health and friendship

Poetry at Work Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
Poetry at Work Day is celebrated every second Tuesday in January, which is on January 11 this year. On this day, workers enjoy poetry as a means of relaxation and recreation while at work. Poems are a creative way to boost mental ability and improve efficiency at work. Poetry involves conveying messages and emotions in words, using structure, style, and rhyme.
HISTORY OF POETRY AT WORK DAY The history of Poetry at Work Day is blurry; however, we appreciate this day, which allows us to use literature for relaxation at work. Poets are naturally creative, and this quality is in high demand by employers. Poetry at Work Day helps to improve creativity in workers, leading to better efficiency.
Poems are very old means of expression, utilizing figures of speech like metaphors, onomatopoeia, and prosodic elements like rhythm, meter, and sound. Poetry has been around for thousands of years, but epic poems, commonly referred to as the first instances of poetry, appears around the 20th century B.C. The Aristotle fragments brought about the introduction of poem genres: epic, comic, and tragic. Major genres were introduced later on; they include epic poetry, dramatic poetry, and lyric poetry.
Poems are written in divided sections, mostly a stanza, which is a standard of 12 lines. Two lines are a couplet, four lines are a quatrain, and the sonnet, created in the 14th century, are 14-lined poems. Poetry has a major impact on businesses, as it helps us to simplify and ‘uncomplicate’ things. It also builds empathy and this goes a long way in building strong work relationships with others. It also improves creativity, which will result in better output at work. It helps us to maintain a psychological balance and relieves stress. Poetry keeps us calm, helping us feel good and light-headed while we carry out tasks at work. Poetry at work is celebrated in offices by posting a poem on a large board for everyone to read, organizing poetry slams, and encouraging workers to discuss or write a poem.

Paget’s Awareness Day – January 11, 2022~World
Paget’s Awareness Day, on January 11, is all about educating others on the effects of this bone disease. Bones, much like blood, skin, and organs, continually repair and renew throughout the course of human life. Paget’s Disease affects that process in such a way that bones can become deformed or fractured over an extended period of time. The most common areas affected by Paget’s are the spine, skull, pelvis, and femur.
HISTORY OF PAGET’S AWARENESS DAY English Baronet Sir James Paget discovered this disease of the bone during his years of pathological research. He published his first paper on the affliction in 1877, where he stated his suspicion that the symptoms of the disease were the result of an inflammatory reaction occurring in the bone tissues. Decades after his death, researchers discovered the true nature of the disease.
Sir Paget’s interest in the disease began with a coachman with significant pain in his lower limbs who visited the hospital where Paget was working. Upon examination, Paget saw that there were deformities and enlargements in the man’s thigh and shin bones. Over the course of 26 years, Paget continued to observe and offer pain management treatments to his patient while researching the nature of the disease. Eventually, the coachman’s legs became so bowed that he could not bring his knees together, and his skull grew so large that he couldn’t fit into his old hats.
In 1973, Ann Stansfield started the Paget’s Association in an effort to fund research so that her husband, Alf, could receive better treatment for his diagnosis. Stansfield expressed three primary missions for establishing the organization, one of which was to raise awareness about the disease among health professionals and the public.
The first Paget’s Awareness Day was held on January 11, 2019, which was also the 205th anniversary of Sir Paget’s birth. On this day each year, those in the Paget’s Association and its community are encouraged to wear blue and do at least one small thing to inform the public about this painful ailment.

National Milk Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
Not to be confused with World Milk Day on June 1, National Milk Day falls on January 11 to observe the very first time milk was delivered to homes inside sterilized glass bottles. It took until 1878 before anybody thought to fill bottles with milk and seal them with waxed paper. Before that, conditions for storing milk (let alone delivering it) were unsanitary at best and downright hazardous at worst. But now that we have the technology to pasteurize and deliver fresh milk to homes, stores, and processing facilities across the country, this most basic type of dairy is more accessible than ever before. By today’s standards, milk with its nine essential nutrients is considered a staple food, technically able to support human life without the addition of any other food groups to balance it out. (Other life-supporting foods include sourdough bread, chicken eggs, red beans, and surprisingly, beer!) Of course, most of us aren’t on a milk-only diet, but milk is our very first food as babies and often remains a common source of nutrition throughout our adult lives. For National Milk Day, we invite you to join us in celebrating the oldest and arguably the most natural food for all the mammals of the world — milk.

National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
If you are a rain lover, a child, or a child-at-heart, you definitely should not miss a chance to have fun outside on January 11, which is National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day. Jump in the puddle and wet some friends. The holiday is mostly enjoyed by kids who love playing with water and causing a splash. So wear your boots and raincoats and go make one!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL STEP IN A PUDDLE AND SPLASH YOUR FRIENDS DAY National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day is especially for the rainy season. We go out into the street and splash ourselves and have fun. The origin of the holiday cannot be traced, although it had been mentioned on a Usenet forum in 1998. The holiday came to prominence when it was included in a published children’s book, making it a day to mark for moms and children.
The holiday, since it came into the limelight in 2014, has been reported by many media platforms, including Bustle and Elite Daily, and has gained recognition in many homes.
It remains one of our favorite holidays in the rainy season. It is assumed that the holiday was created in a place that experiences rain in January; in America, all puddles are normally iced within this period. If you live in such areas, you can celebrate the holiday when the puddles melt.
National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day helps us to enhance our social skills because it’s not a holiday to celebrate solo. You have to enjoy it with others, and this strengthens relationships. Since it involves water play, which aids children’s development, the holiday is good for your child’s mental growth. Water play enhances motor skills and coordination in children. While dodging a splash or splashing a friend, children develop good concentration and focus, which are qualities of a sharp mind. Water play is a great means of relaxation and recreation, and it helps you form stronger ties with your children.

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 11 raises awareness of the persistent issue of human trafficking. Though the entire month of January has already been recognized as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, this day is specifically dedicated to awareness and prevention of the illegal practice. This holiday is also separate from the World Day Against Trafficking Persons, as established by the United Nations. Since the Senate established this day of observance in 2007, it has drawn massive public support from individual donations to government-organized events. The horrific injustice of human trafficking can affect people of any race and background, and on this day we are all called to fight human trafficking wherever it exists.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS DAY Human trafficking, according to Unitas, is the exploitation of another person for labor, domestic servitude, or commercial sexual activity by force, fraud, or coercion. It is also the act of enslaving or exploiting unwilling other people. Unfortunately, slavery in some form has existed for hundreds of years – and persistently exists today, though many are unaware of this fact.
Most are familiar with the slave trade of the 1400s and beyond. Instituted by Europeans, the slave trade captured and held in bondage millions of Africans from across the continent, eventually selling them for labor or sexual exploitation. This practice flourished in countries like Spain, the growing United States, Holland, France, Sweden, and Denmark for centuries.
It was not until the late 1700s and 1800s that governments began to declare the Transatlantic slave trade illegal, with Great Britain setting the example in 1807 and the United States following in 1820 – the slave trade became a crime punishable by death, but many years passed before more widespread freedom was achieved. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 largely put an end to slavery, and the Thirteenth Amendment of 1866 abolished it.
It was after the recognition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade as immoral that governments began to discuss “white slavery,” the term used at the time for sexual human trafficking. 1904 saw the passage of the International Agreement for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic, written into law by European monarchs, and 12 countries signed the International Convention for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic. The League of Nations soon changed the name from “white slavery” to “traffic in women and children.”
The late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries saw gains for the movement against human trafficking. In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act addressed modern-day slavery, becoming the first federal law to do so. The American charity group Free The Slaves, part of Anti-Slavery International, was also formed. In 2007, the United States Senate ratified the resolution establishing January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. In 2010, President Obama dedicated the entire month of January to awareness and prevention of human trafficking. Today, there are over 50 established organizations that globally combat this illegal practice, and more awareness has been raised than ever before.

National Hot Toddy Day – January 11, 2022~U.S.
Do you crave festive cocktails? Do you need to be warmed up? Then you’ll want to celebrate National Hot Toddy Day on January 11. The warm drink is created in a kettle with various kinds of alcohol (usually rum, brandy, or whiskey), along with honey, lemon, water, and a cinnamon stick. It’s best enjoyed by the fire — preferably with snow falling outside. This toasty drink is even rumored to relieve cold and flu symptoms, but we’ll leave that part up to you.
