Hi All,
We are in the process of creating our next solitaire game and was wondering a few things:
* What are your least favorite features in a solitaire game? * What are your favorite features in a solitaire game? * What really annoys you in a solitaire game? * What theme would you like to see in the future?
Cheers, Steve and Kylie The Revills Games

Hi there Spinning Daisy
First of all, kudos for your work! Your games are not just enjoyable but very,... hmm...pretty, as well (I mean, the artwork is beautiful). I can tell, there are a lots of work and care invested in them. As for your questions, I would like to address only the one what is most annoying for me in all solitaire games: the game play pretty much the same in all of them. Yes, the story changes, scenery/theme changes, but the solitaire game itself is always the same type - one number up or down (tritower type). Would be refreshing, if there would be a different solitaire game adopted time by time, like add cards to 11... etc. I understand, that the most popular type is one up - one down, but for me it is annoying to play the same game in a different scenery (I have the same problem with mahjong or match 3 games). That's said, your games are still outstanding and very enjoyable, just would be nice to see a different solitaire time by time, not just a different theme.
PS: Love ya being here, and I love that you actually asked our opinion. THANKS!!!

Hey Moni, Really great to hear that you like our games Thanks for the suggestion. In the past few of our solitaire games (Ember Knight, Legends of Solitaire: Diamond Relic) we have added game modes: * One number up or down * Match 2 cards (eg select two cards with the same number) * Make 14 (eg select two cards to add up to 14) We do read all the reviews on BFG etc and try to improve our games a little each time, so having a forum where we can actually commuicate with our players is fantastic Cheers, Steve and Kylie The Revills Games

I'm so stupid! Turns out, that I own Diamond Relic, I just simply overlooked the different game play options. It was only poking my eyes out, lol. Anyways, since you have fulfilled my wishes BEFORE I asked for them, can I call you Mages from now? Aha!
While I was at it, I bought Ember Knight, too... played 10 min, love it! Thanks
(Funny fact: did you know, the word "ember" means "human" in Hungarian?)

therevillsgames, I would love a Tri-Peaks Solitaire game! I'm not positive, but I think you have a tri-peaks available for mobile games only (I could be wrong so my apologies if I am) I personally love solitaire levels that are lengthy, I want lots and lots of deck cards, but lots and lots of cards to remove from the field as well. The only thing I hate is when you don't get to replay levels at will, and I have to be able to remove all cards not just "special cards" Great job on Ember Knight Solitaire btw!

Thanks for the feedback Moni @pennmon, yes we do have some old tri peaks mobile games. On the desktop games, we do have the tri peaks and 5 peaks minigames to play. It'll be interesting to add more deck cards, as in our current games we keep the deck to 52 cards (apart from bonus cards, extra cards etc), also the size of the cards kind of limits the amount we can put on a screen, unless we shrink them or even add scrolling (but I dont think scrolling would really work on a solitaire game), we'll have a think about it Thanks for the suggestion. Also great that you were able to play Ember Knight!

therevillsgames , I own a couple of those above..and one thing I really did like was when the cards had to add up to a certain amount. So please put those in always (ie 14) etc.

Also great that you were able to play Ember Knight! A good way to accomplish this is to play Magic Cards Solitaire (the first one) although all their games are basically the same with different themes, this game has the best examples, especially later in the game. They have several piles on the field and they may only look like they have a single card but once you remove that card you discover that some of these piles actually have 50+ cards under them and you never know which piles have a few cards or a hundred lol It also allows for long chains that are really satisfying

therevillsgames, now I know why I own 2 of the above solitaire games, even though I'm not a huge solitaire fan ... because you have different options of solitaire with minigames! Clapping But boy are those minigames hard to beat when you play them separately from the home screen! Bat To Computer And like pennmom, I also love really lengthy levels with lots and lots of cards! You can have piles of cards with no idea how many cards are underneath. I love those games as you just never know when you're going to reach the bottom! Ripping Hair Out However, unlike pennmom, I don't want to have to play and replay a level until all the cards are gone. I don't mind replaying a level if I don't manage to get all the needed cards, or to discover what's under those last cards that I didn't manage to remove, but I don't want to have to clear every single card from the field. Shaking Computer I do like having to find ice picks to clear ice, and machetes to clear vines, etc, etc, etc, especially when you have to clear them more than once. Or when you have to make certain card matches to clear cards ... or maybe something new that you need to do to clear cards? Aha! Theme? How about an Aussie theme? Or maybe having a story where you need to make matches to progress. For example, you need to make matches with logs to cross a river to continue on your journey, or you need to make matches with bricks to rebuild a house to help someone you meet on the way, etc. You have a goal and you need to make matches to accomplish side tasks on your way to whatever your goal is. I think a lot of people like games where you build something. But I think it should be optional, as I don't think everyone would want to be bothered with that; they just want to play solitaire.

Thanks pennmom , for the example game (Magic Cards Solitaire), wow 50 cards on one pile We'll have a look! oioioi , with the minigames, what do you find hard? Is it the amount of time you have (or dont have )? joybelle , not sure if you saw the earlier posts, but our latest games do offer a Make 14 game mode Thanks all for the great feedback, keep it coming!

therevillsgames , for example, when I was playing Ember Knight Solitaire, I tried a couple of the minigames. I didn't try them all but, when I played Five Peaks in the Make 14 mode, I think I must have played it at least 40 or 50 times (they're really quick as there are so few cards) and I got a single star once out of all those times! That's what I mean by hard. I tried a few of the other games and modes, and they were all easier than this one, but it still wasn't easy to get stars. I don't expect to get it out every time, but it would've been nice to get a star before I'd played it something like 30 times! All it would take would be to have a few more cards available.

Ah, thanks oioioi , yeah that makes sense The 5 peaks and tri peaks are originally designed for golf (one up/down), so are a lot harder in Make 14 (and Match 2). We'll improve it in our next game! Thanks for the feedback! Cheers, Steve and Kylie The Revills Games

therevillsgames, So I have a few personal questions, do you both create the games together or do you have different roles such as coder/programmer, graphics, storyline, editing, quality control, etc. and is it challenging working as a husband-wife team? I'd also like to know how The Revills Games came to be, were you unhappy with solitaire games available at the time and thought "I can do this better" or did you always have a dream about becoming a developer? (hopefully, these questions aren't too personal, I just love fun facts about different developers and find it interesting learning how and why a company came to be)
