Jo, I got the bundle with Darkestville Castle & Red Comrades 1-3 dirt cheap! I was actually looking to see if they had Dark Secret Finders. I apparently own it on BF but I don't remember playing it so thanks for the heads-up!

I'm halfway through replaying Finders (the one with the archaeologists where you have to keep building tents, storage, kitchen, and do a bunch of tasks like mining and buying stuff to cook soup and meat.
There actually is a story in there, but it's such a silly one that I'm not tempted to turn that one into prose (for those who don't know, my main hobby these days is writing fanfiction, specifically based on games I like when there's a coherent story to tell, and I emphasize that this is for FUN and I neither seek nor expect to make so much as a penny from this; I have no intention of infringing on anyone's copyright). I'm plenty busy with King's Heir: Rise to the Throne and the Vacation Adventures games.
The Steam version of Lost Lands: A Hidden Object Adventure (BFG title is Lost Island: Eternal Storm) actually has more quests than the BFG version does. The story concluded weeks ago, but I kept on going because I want as many of those Steam achievement whatchamacallits as I can get.
I won't get all of them, unfortunately. There are two that are buggy - the one for finding objects in "night mode" and the one for finding silhouetted objects. I've fulfilled the requirements for those many times over, but have never been credited with them. So now I'm just working on the locations and monsters, and am not sure if there's one for the final location that also isn't part of the BFG version. That one involves a Clutter-like game where you have to find pairs or threes, and it is VICIOUS. It's actually unwinnable, unless you have an infinite number of pouches that find and eliminate 5 objects at once, and can make it work super-fast.
The artwork is gorgeous, though. If those levels weren't timed, I'd just sit there and stare at it, because I actually can imagine stories taking place there. The Forest Cabin scene reminds me of the forests in British Columbia (though we never had all that stuff cluttering up).

Unsure where to post this, but it is an old game revisited that I'm having an issue with, so here goes. Any help would be appreciated. Love the Jewel Match games. Revisiting Jewel Match Origins Palais Imperial, since I don't recall finishing it, and now understand why. After playing about 30 levels I have stopped getting new additions to the castle scene to buy. I have tons of emblems collected and my jewel box is full. I've played at least 10 levels now but still no more stuff to buy. Revisited the Big Fish game page and see some frustrated reviews by folks with this problem, but of course no longer a forum to see if anyone has a solution. Am I missing something painfully obvious? Anyone remember this issue?

wichitaclem, JM Origins Palais Imperial has one huge scene with 3 sub-castles and a carriage to build. I haven't played in ages, just re-bought the games on Steam as a package deal recently and they are piled up in my queue waiting to be played. Anyway, there are only a limited number of items to build in the "huge" scene which I think did take about 30 or maybe 40 (?) levels. Then you have to click on the button for each individual castle or the carriage and another "scene" opens up in there to build the sub-castles and the carriage individually. You can slowly work on each smaller component whenever you wish so long as you have the resources, or you can build just one sub-castle or the carriage to 100% before going to something else. It will take the entire 120 levels of the SE map if you have the CE version to build the entire huge scene. Here's a thread from the Steam game hub with some more information: steamcommunity.com/app/1448780/discussions/0/3453716250581362128/

A couple of older games that I continue to play and find endlessly amusing: Tradewinds Legends - I could never get the hang of the Caravans games in this series, but this seafaring one is entertaining and the storylines are hilarious. Puzzle Hero - The only totally battle match 3 I know of. Interesting animated 3D graphics. Viking Saga - I go back to all three of these Realore time management games often, though I like the first 2 best. Other Vikings now rule the seas, but this is the first I encountered on BF and still my favorite. The MatchVentures series is another match 3 with occasional (and really difficult) battle rooms. The Leprechaun is pretty funny.

We've had some old but good games mentioned in Shoutbox lately. The problem is that the posts disappear after a while so I'll post them here with Big Fish links. At Steam
And one I just started playing and would recommend:
Some of these games may be available at Legacy Games included in a bundle but you can't search individual games and I'm too lazy to search all the bundles. Sad but true!

Re: A Wizard's Curse
This is a very short game - maybe 2.5 hours and tells an incomplete story. The good guy is after the bad guy. They finally meet up {Spoiler} and the bad guy escapes. What...what?
The story is well told with outstanding voice overs and stunning graphics. Old fashioned graphics full of detail with amazing lighting. A joy to behold.
Too many non-interactive HOS for me but they repeat and they're easy to power through. Very few puzzles in this game.
Did I enjoy it? Yup! Do I regret playing it? Nope! Do I wish there was more to it? Most assuredly!
Be forewarned.

I had the BEST time replaying Glow Fish recently. I wish there had been more like it by the same devs. I just can't say enough about it! Oh, and it played perfectly on my Win 10 computer.

I just finished the main game for Dreamscapes: Sandman (12 Chapters flew by) I had forgotten how creative the Beholders were! Not only are they well hidden because they are a single eyeball peeking out of nooks & crannies, but when you click on them, the little buggers try to escape and ya have to catch them! There is a Bat, Spider, and Centipede Beholder spy. I'm going to finish the BC today...a totally satisfied gamer!

I feel like I've played this game before from your description of the Beholders but when I Googled it, I definitely haven't! There's another game where you have to click on little eyeballs and now I'm going to wonder what it is for a while. LOL
Did you get this one on Steam?

I was scrolling through my games on BFG, (1408 :0 ) for a specific game and of course became distracted by some others ;) anyway I thought I would share penmom's review of one. I hope that is okay, I figured that it would be as I know all of us here have followed you because we all read your reviews :) This is for Cursery: The Crooked Man and the Crooked Cat. I bought it in 2020.

jimanddelora, after you mentioned this game, I put it on my wishlist at Steam. It's on sale until Monday for $9.99 60% off = $3.99. I'm going to get it. Thanks for the recommendation. Deja Vu Collector's Edition

I just finished The Book of Desires.
This is a very old-school game; the kind of game where you have to read between the lines to fill in the story. It is a VERY short game (2.5 hours) There are no voiceovers, no collectibles, no extras, and definitely no frills.
BUT...it has an abundance of old-school HO scenes (1 in every location) They are the kind HOs that give you that duh moment when you finally find an object that you were beginning to think didn't actually exist because back in the day, developers blended objects into the scenery with magic & voodoo dust.
Surprisingly, it has some pretty decent mini-games, and several of the games require you to memorize codes or the position to place objects correctly.
If I had played this game when it was originally released, I would probably have given it 1-2 stars. Oddly, I am finding a new love for these "past-their-prime" junk HOPAs from an era where everyone wanted a piece of the pie and rushed to make their own game...and BF gobbled them up, no matter the quality, to meet our demands.
I did have an issue with 1 mini-game where you placed stone heads on pillars. After placing them, the heads disappeared completely and I had no choice but to skip the puzzle.
Oh yeah, apparently they didn't bother with quality control because PUZZLE was spelled PUZLLE throughout the entire game Rolling Along

Based on a recommendation at Pond Friends, I've recently been playing an old Adventure/Puzzle game called Adera, available at BFG, rated 4.4/5.
If you want a game where you "get your money's worth", this is certainly it. I have been playing f-o-r-e-v-e-r and I'm only near the end of Episode 2, out of 5 total episodes. Wish BFG, like Steam, kept track of hours played, but I'm in for at least twice as long as a normal HOPA these days just for the ~40% I've played so far. This is an old game (apparently from 2012, though it only arrived at BFG in 2019), but plays fine on Windows 10. I've totally forgotten the story (a staple "girl searches for grandfather"), but then I often do since I tend to get totally distracted by working puzzles and searching for inventory items. The puzzles in this game are interesting & often very different from the typical same-old/same-old. Directions are sparse, many scenes are 360 degree scanable (but not in a motion-sickness kind of way), and there is a rudimentary Hint function. Areas of interest glint & I did not find a way to turn that off....but I often relied heavily on that too. There are a few HO scenes sprinkled in, usually contributing a needed inventory item, though many also depend on your finding them in the environment. For those of you who like collectibles, there are a ton of these - over 150 in 15 categories (like butterflies, ribbons, dolls, etc), though I found many virtually indistinguishable and found mainly by accident.
Anyhow, an interesting, fun, long game in case you are looking for something different to play.

The truth is that I have a tendency to wander off to make a cup of coffee and get distracted by something completely unrelated or I forget to close a game and it runs all night. So Adera is not quite 79.5 hours long.
