I agree. It is hard to stop when you hear a click in response to something you did and you're one step closer to success. This game has a great tutorial at the beginning. I've been reluctant to try this type of game before so hurray for group play.

I have played this game so didn't join in. If you like this one, you would probably like the one I am playing now: The House of Da Vinci #1

Ah, I must have been sooooo much smarter in my youth! Bought this game a couple years ago and per Steam, played it for 2 hours. Dont know where I was at that point, but do know that starting over this time, it took me FOREVER to complete Chapter 1 (and that's with the advantage of having a tiny bit of residual memory of things....ummm, "knowing" the answer and "finding" the answer are definitely NOT the same)! black eye
So far in Chapter 2 I've "solved" 2 things purely by accident - one by randomly twirling a dial just to see what the possible settings were (and hitting on the "answer" without actually being looking for it) and one by trying to rotate in a close-up view and accidentally clicking on something that gave me an inventory item. Ah, let's see if dumb luck continues to be my salvation! Happy Girl

Okay I'm on the epilogue and it's making me want to put a straw in a bottle of cab. Seriously this one chapter is taking longer than the rest of the game, but it is a really terrific game. Enjoy!

Managed to finish and still have all my hair. Tough game but really good mental exercise. A few puzzles had me really bamboozled like the star key that took hours (of course I'm pretty sure it's just because I'm dense).

Congratulations smitty189 ! (Hmmpppfff, what an overachiever! . Meanwhile, I'm still stuck having opened only 1 of the 3 locks in Chapter 2...and even for that, had to redisplay the "Hint 3 of 3" related to the telescope more than half a dozen times, 'cause I kept misinterpreting what it meant (ie, Every time it told me about the "door on the left", I thought it meant the door on the left side of the main window with the telescope (which I also could not open)...never even noticing there was ANOTHER door on the left side of that view itself.

smitty189 ,Congrats! So jealous. Had to quit at the end of Chapter two for the day since we're having two grandsons for a sleepover. They saved most of Grammy's hair . This is a tough game but it feels so good when you figure the next step. Back at it tomorrow afternoon. Good luck all.

Whew! Finally got to Chapter 3. Things seemed to be moving so quickly once I got to playing with the gears that I got totally wrapped up in the game and wound up staying up w-a-a-a-y too late trying to continue to make progress. Got really stuck on the last couple of steps - thank heavens for the "hint" function...though as usual, figuring out what the hints were trying to tell me seem just as hard as solving any of the puzzles WITHOUT a hint! (Gulp, of course would have been lots easier if I'd realized the "eyepiece" it kept talking about was actually the little tool eyepiece and not some part of the box it wanted me to look at as if it were an eyepiece!). Oh well. Eventually I'll master the "obvious"!

I wasn't going to get interested in this game because I need to be doing other things but I decided to just take a quick look. And a couple of hours later, I have one lock left to solve in Chapter 2. Anyone who can complete this game in a day or two is waaaay smarter than me. I'm predicting a week or more of intense concentration, meticulous observation and laborious deductive processes accompanied by occasional screaming and hair pulling. I've forewarned the cat. I hit the ? once because I'm a click happy fool but I haven't used it since.
Congrats to everyone who finished and 'don't give up' to all who haven't.

pennmom, moni, mooky, smitty189, good2bqueen, sandy, lurkercat, bumblebee, Jo, Hubby & I watched the grandkids this morning, after they left I got a couple hours free time and I have made it to Chapter 3 section 2. It took me 4 attempts to push the buttons before the doors closed back up because I didn't realize there were several timers so the 1st 2 times I clicked #1 & #2 and then went back to #1. So far, I'm not thrilled with this game because some puzzles seem like they are solved with sheer luck, and many of them are manual dexterity puzzles where you have to not just align things, but toggle with an uncooperative screen in a frustrating way, a feature I've always hated in HOPA games (where they make you turn the puzzle to create a constellation etc) There was 1 puzzle I just finished that I thought was a trick because it was so simple. The safe where you clicked tabs to the left, then right, then left like a normal safe by trial & error as to when the tabs reset...thought surely it wasn't the answer lol

pennmom, The game is kinda fiddly.I'm slightly annoyed by the need to have the box in the exact correct position to zoom in. I just double click, adjust, double click, adjust until I get it right. Every game has its own sense of logic and I'm starting to 'get it' and review the whole puzzle box to see what changed when I complete something. I do find that taking copious notes helps a lot. So I write down everything that has the potential to be a clue. I can read my chicken scratches although probably no one else can.
I agree about the 'turn the page to form a picture' puzzles but I'll finally get 'em right after fumbling around for while. I skip the damned things in HOPAs because...well.... life is just too short for that kinda . Follow the leader or turn on all the lights puzzles are the worst. Actually, come to think of it, playing a lot of HOPAs is excellent training for this game.
Never think a puzzle is too simple. Pat yourself on the back for your superior intelligence!
