pennmom ,Well believe it or not..that BIG MANGO..went missing once..stolen in the night by a large crane!! It was found soon after and this was the reporting of the CRIME!! THE removal of Bowen’s monster mango attraction has been revealed to be a stunt by .... a fast food chain.
The ten-tonne, three-storey high mango was located this morning in the bushes behind the Bowen Tourist Information Centre – from where it disappeared early yesterday morning.
Bowen Tourism board chairman Paul McLaughlin had insisted they were not behind the big fruit’s disappearance, and it seems he was telling the truth – although he was in on the plan.
In a statement, chicken fastfood chain Nando’s said they promised to “take good care of the mango, and would return it to its rightful position soon(ish)”.
A spokesman said more would be revealed on Friday. The apparent heist of the $90,000 mega mango attracted nationwide attention and a Facebook page set up to search for it was shared by thousands of people.
Today another prankster not involved in the stunt, has even posted an ad on Gumtree offering to sell the big mango for $5000, or trade it for the Big Banana from Coffs Harbour.
We really are...'A bunch of Ratbags'! Rolling Smilie

joybelle - I'M COMING OVER BABY - THE BUBBLE HAS BURST. You will probably notice about 2 million kiwis coming over. Apparently all flights over to Aussie were snapped up in minutes. Queenstown is poised for the influx of Aussies coming for an adventure. Can't wait.

pennmom ...little guys or bloke..and little or young ladies. You often hear...'Dont you pull that face at me young lady (or missy)..!!"... But mostly 'the kids" ánd boys and girls of course..they are just phrases we say every now and then...like is 'is the little bloke/guy coming too?'" meaning are you bringing the baby or the child. .. and of course we call them 'ankle biters' a lot too!! Oh and pennmom ..we call them little tackers too. Small Children (Australian Vernacular) Those little tackers are full of beans today. (Cut and paste off google.) So you could tell your you are coming over to 'look after the little tackers'...that will stump them.. ( to stump..to confuse or not have an answer to a question or be able to solve or figure something out. ..as in ' Gee I don't know..that's got me stumped'.. ...true) It just goes on and on really...and we don't even think about it much.

joybelle, don't forget that you also know you're Australian when you shorten words with an 'i' ... eg. choccies, biccies, cozzies (NSW - don't know what state you're from) ...
and when you say 'me' instead of 'my' ... eg. I've got me game ...
and when you measure distance in time, not distance ... eg. How far's the nearest PO? Oh, about 10 minutes. Or, when you live out woop woop ... Oh, about 10 hours. ...
and when the ambulance is a plane ... once again, when you live out woop woop ...
and when you hop in your plane to visit your next door neighbour ...
and when you have great respect for all deadly creatures ... sharks, crocs, spiders, snakes, jellyfish, kangaroos, etc. ...
and when you think nothing of hopping on a plane and travelling for well over 24 hours to go on holidays ...

In celebration of our ANZAC Day on Sunday, here's the recipe for Anzac Biccies (Biscuits/Cookies), our most Australian biscuit, which are really quick and easy to make and they are yummo! I know that golden syrup is an Aussie product, so I googled alternatives for those not lucky enough to live in Australia. However, I'm not sure if you call all the other ingredients by the same name. If not, just ask and I'll tell you what they are. ANZAC BICCIESPREPARATION TIME: 20 mins TOTAL COOKING TIME: 20 mins Makes about 25 biccies INGREDIENTS: 1 cup plain flour 1 cup rolled oats 3/4 cup desiccated coconut 3/4 cup caster sugar 125g butter 1 tablespoon golden syrup (or maple syrup/honey/corn syrup) 1 1/2 teaspoons bicarb of soda 2 tablespoons boiling water 1. Preheat oven to slow 150C (300F). Brush 2 oven trays with melted butter or oil. Place flour, oats, coconut and sugar in a large mixing bowl, stir until combined. 2. Combine butter and golden syrup in small pan, stir over high heat until melted. Mix soda with boiling water, add to melted butter and syrup. Add to flour mixture, stir until combined. 3. Shape level tablespoonsful of mixture into balls and flatten slightly; place onto prepared trays, about 6 cm (2.5") apart. 4. Bake 15-20 minutes or until crisp and golden. Remove from oven, stand 2 minutes. Loosen biscuits and cool on wire rack. I know it says to bake until "crisp" and golden. However, my prefers them when they're still soft and chewy. So you could experiment a bit and decide how long you prefer to cook them ... until they're crisp, or until they're still a bit chewy. Maybe crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle? These biccies are my favs in the whole world and the only problem is that I can't stop at one ... or two ... or three ... or four ... you get the idea! Happy cooking!

pennmom, not only do I miss Anzac Biccies, but also lamingtons, and Neenish tarts, and Pavlova, and scones, and Rocky Road, and Balmain bugs, and vanilla slices, and Surf 'n' turf, and White Christmas, and Kangaroo steaks, and crocodile, and emu, and damper with cocky's joy, and meat pies, and sausage rolls ... and don't even get me started on all the chocolate bars I can't get here! But at least my sister keeps me constantly supplied with Vegemite and Tim Tams!!!! Gott sei Dank! Couldn't live without those!
