I keep avatars and signatures shut off normally and I've got the page zoomed to 150% so I don't have to wear my glasses.
The only thing I can think of is that the Woods is running different forum software than the Pond and the other forums Valkara mentioned. Pennmom told me that the Woods has a later version than the Pond so some of the things they could do there via an earlier version were not available here now. PF was created in 2013 which could make a huge difference.
As to browser compatibility, I use Firefox and can see everything. I've never used Opera. Years ago, I was at a forum where I posted daily game releases. IE, pre-Edge days, and Firefox were not compatible with some of the editing functions so I had to use Chrome to post properly. I don't much like Chrome but I used it there exclusively. Aside from two very sketchy and improbable ideas and the unlikely possibility that it's some conflict with Valkara's computer, I'm at a loss. I'm going to ask in Shoutbox if anyone else is having this problem.
It's been awhile since I tried the other themes at PF, but I'd bet that some of them have issues as well. Themes are made by many different people and while some cost $$ to install, others are offered for free. The free ones sometimes tend to be buggy, since who goes over those ones with a fine tooth comb? I've skinned forums before - Invision forums, that is - and made sure that nothing turned out to be invisible or the wrong icon. I may need to reword my sig, or maybe the code could be changed? There are times when you really don't want a huge smiley popping up in a sentence.

These are what I see: Do you see how some posts make no sense whatsoever to me?
No hummingbird. I never see what others see.
I've tried other themes. They're either too hard on my eyes or they stretch so far out of proportion that I have to keep scrolling to read everything.

Valkara , the screenshot shows a yellow background which is very similar to the tan of the default? The tan actually has more contrast and should be easier to see. There is also a theme that is the standard Proboards White background with black font and one that is white with Blue font

There is also a theme that is the standard Proboards White background with black font and one that is white with Blue font I don't use the default here (the one I assume you're using) because it's stretched waaay too far to fit my screen. I'm not scrolling from side to side every time I want to read or reply to something. I also don't use white backgrounds because they're hard on my eyes (too much glare). I had cataract surgery three years ago and since then I've found dark backgrounds to be easier to tolerate for long periods of time (considering I spend hours/day online, much of it on forums or reading fanfiction, I need relaxing backgrounds). There does need to be a good contrast with the font, though, or it's too hard to read. Pastels are difficult as well. The light tan of "Little Empire" is easiest on my eyes, of the themes that aren't stretched in weird ways.

Valkara, can you please move your computer issues to another thread? You hijacked a thread that was intended to get answers from members, not for technical issues. And may I suggest you adopt a more civil way of communicating? You are not native English speaking/writing, but you are very impolite. And you can b*tch at me if you want, I will not loose a second sleep over it so you better save the trouble.

It is pretty easy to navigate here.
For the most part. I think Steam games are scattered around a little.
New Adventure games
HOPA threads, word games
Fine as it is
Fine as it is
Yes
Yes
Yes
No
It is fine the way it is, I am just not much of a joiner any more.
Same as above.
I always liked Pennmom's reviews so I followed her invite at BFG over here. I go days without visiting and then I may stop in 4 or 5 times in one day if something interests me. I do like to see what others are playing and how they like the games.
I have joined in one. A couple I'd already played. I belong to another small gaming forum. There we play one adventure group play and one HOPA GP a week(old ones to try and clear up our backlogs) Add that to any games I am playing on my own (this week The House of DaVinci, a HOPA and a M3) and I don't have a lot of time left. But if an adventure game is chosen and I have it unplayed. I would probably join in.
Yes.
Probably not much. I rarely posted at the old BFG forum except for an adventure game thread and the forum that evolved from that. I am a member of Pond friends but rarely go there as it's definitely not for me.
I think this is a great forum and I wish I was a more social person, but alas I am not.

SynthpopAddict, How would you rate ease of navigation at the Woods? 7/10 I find there is a learning curve. Can you easily find what you want at the Woods? SomewhatWhat do you read on a regular basis at the Woods? Your favorite parts. Shoutouts, Quick replies and what ever that little field is at the bottom of a comment, Game reviews, searching games similar to those I enjoy or have specific features, Sharing games that I like, learning about other game sites What do you never read at the Woods? You least favorite parts. Forum games. Other topics besides gamesWhat topics would you add or increase? I would like to see top ten games - could be filtered by genre or some other criteria like Top Ten most relaxing, Top Ten best music etc. If there was a pinned post/poll at the top with the current ratings by members here would be even better like "current top ten most atmospheric games. A member wouldn't have to have a full blown top ten game they could just say hey 13 Skulls is the most atmospheric game.. Oh and Dire Grove...and some how this could be tabulated. I don't know what kind of options there are. And something like "Why I like Paradise Quest [insert other game name] forum topic could be "Take a Break" games because this is a game you can easily pick up for 15 minutes and get back to work (haha as if). What topics would you decrease or delete? Not that I can think of. Are Admin staff receptive and responsive to your requests for help and/or information? Yes - very much so and see here is a post asking for my opinion. Do you feel comfortable in responding to other's comments? YesDo you feel comfortable in starting your own thread on a topic? YesDo you feel intimidated by anyone at the Woods? NoWhat can we do to make your time spent at the Woods more fun? Are replies to topics I post on able to send notifications to email? If you could change anything at the Woods, what would it be? Not that I can think of. Why do you visit the Woods? To connect with other game players and share information and experiencesWould you consider joining a group play? What would sway you? What is a group play?Do you have enough information to navigate and use the Woods effectively? It's not intuitive I have to fumble around so probably not. I always have the feeling there is more I could do. What can we do to change your behavior from a silent lurker to a full blown party animal? Well I am not a lurker obviously but I am not a party animal at all. I am more the person off to the side grilling someone else about their genealogy haha. I am an explorer. Or a rambler perhaps. (Remember Ramblers? the car? there was a great name)

, poohcorner, You've made some very interesting suggestions. We don't have many people here who post reviews about games or anything else like music, TV shows, movies, etc. but that would be very interesting to see. What can we do to make your time spent at the Woods more fun? Are replies to topics I post on able to send notifications to email? This one is easy! Go to your Profile in the navigation bar at the top of the page → Edit Profile → Notifications. You'll see this: Tons of things to be notified about. These would work best for your specific question. You choose how to be notified, on the Woods or through email, and how often you are notified. You can bookmark a thread that you are interested in, whether you've posted in it or not, by clicking "Actions" at the top of the thread and choosing "Bookmark":

poohcorner , I'm not a moderator or the admin here, but thanks for your feedback. It's Jo who's been keeping up with the feedback on this poll. As for "what's a group play": that's where a thread is created in the Group Play section where several people who are interested in a game play it at the same time and then post their feedback, general support, and random small talk about playing said game. Most of the games being played together are adventure games. It's not a chat room sort of thing where you have to be online together; everybody in a group play just plays the game on their own time while the thread is getting responses.

poohcorner ...right now the 'schedule for group games till July' is on the front page, and lurkercat has made a thread to alert us if any of them come on sale so we may grab them cheap knowing we will be playing them. It's also on the first page at the moment too. You can bookmark both those threads so they are easily found. Yes come join us. The next one is 'Through Andrea's Eyes'

Thanks Jo, I updated my notifications, so we'll see how that works. I am HOPING that with daily notifications they put them all in one email.
I didn't mean I wanted to see game reviews, sorry if I implied that, and I certainly don't want to see reviews of anything besides that. I would like to see a write-in poll or thread or what works best where people could just add which games, they like best "top ten" ish in certain categories (as I mentioned things like relaxing or atmosphere etc.) This way I would have an instant supply of suggestions to try depending on my needs at the moment. So, say I play a new game - the game Dreamland comes to mind - and I try it and wow I love it. Why do I love it? because it is an SE that is as good as a CE. There is where I would go - the forum/list/poll about SE as good as CE. I could even start a new poll/thread etc. with a pinned list of titles at the top about this category. Oh and it is a fun HO...let's see where is that list...I want to add it to that one too.
Maybe there is something here already that is like this? I may not be making myself clear. I don't trust the lists on BFG at all. Or the reviews.

poohcorner , I really like that idea. One of the reasons I visit is to hear about new games or remind me of old ones I own to replay. (Most recently someone mentioned "Lost Island Eternal Storm". I own it but never played long enough to really get the feel of the game and am loving it.) I think having this info in one place would be great and get folks chatting about older games. And try group play sometime. It's fun.

There are lots of thumbs up (and down) for games and older games especially but they're scattered here and there in different threads. I just had a conversation about the Witches' Legacy games in passing but I have no idea now where that was. Someone mentioned the Shiver games somewhere, sometime, too, so I replayed all of them and I've got an opinion. I mentioned the first Tearstone game in the Tearstone 2 thread a while ago. I love it when someone mentions a game I haven't played or even thought about in 10 years. It's like a brand new game to me.
Maybe we need some new on-going threads to keep all of our spectacular game wisdom a bit better organized.
What are you playing now? What are you replaying now?
It doesn't have to be anything as complicated as a formal review - just an opinion and a recommendation to play or not.
Suggestions, anyone?
(Everytime I post in this thread, I have the Spice Girls singing "Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want" and so I am stuck with an earworm for the rest of day. I have so far successfully resisted the temptation to share said earworm.)

It's also on the first page at the moment too. Actually, it is the ever-helpful Jo who started the group game play sale thread (Thanks Jo!). poohcorner , Please join us for group play. It is lots of fun & good comradery, an easy way to get around to playing games you may even already own, and a great place to vent when a game is being exceedingly contrary (uh, which tends to be my main contribution to group plays since I usually trail everyone else and have a knack for running into every glitch that may be present...or just being incredibly dense absent a glitch! ). Next game starts a week from Friday (on 5/20) and should be a fairly easy one, I think, after my poor brain has struggled through the last two (but had a great time doing so!). Check out board Group Game Play under Gaming from the home page to see the various threads and discussions from our previous games.

And you can b*tch at me if you want, I will not loose a second sleep over it so you better save the trouble. Okay, I have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about. I haven't "b*tched" at you at all. The topic of the thread is to say what we think, and I've said that I'm having problems because I THINK some of the themes are buggy because they don't work properly, there are some images I can't see, and that's why I'm limited in what I can see and do here. I am not blaming pennmom or anyone else on staff. Technical issues ARE part of what people think. And I'd love to know where you got the idea that I'm not a native English speaker/writer. I may be blunt at times, but I'm also not going to tiptoe around problems that are having a negative impact on my enjoyment of this site. If you think I'm "impolite" and need to be "more civil" there's a way to report that to the staff. Snarking at me like this is only perpetuating the problem. And if you really can't stand my posts... feel free to block them. You won't even know I'm here.

Yes...well here's what I think..I think group game plays are a great way to test the waters with new genres and get help as you navigate strange environments you normally would not perhaps play. (thinking about me and Adventure games LOL)...but I am sure some don't play TM's that have no strategy guide..and with group play ...the other players are your helpers if you are stuck. I love doing it and I too HOPE more members come and join in. Cheesing
