I have a question. I have the steam version (someone here gave me a key or on Pondfriends). Is this the Ce like on Bigfish? . Michelle

metmichallica, I have both versions (steam and BFG CE)...the BFG one has a hint button is the main difference I noticed, and must admit it helped me a fair bit. Any other differences I don't really remember.

I got up at 5 am so I could play the first chapter before leaving for the day. I had forgotten just how beautiful this game was...and how sad the story is, I honestly don't remember how it ended

What? No! Already? I think I lost a week somewhere. So far behind. I'll just go back to Unwritten Tales cause it's a lot more fun to participate when everyone else is playing.

The game on Steam is not the Ce version. I downloaded the game on Gamehouse which is the Ce version. The steam version has no hint or extras. Looks to me it is just the standard version. So I bought the game on Gamehouse (I didn't pay for it. I used a reward coupon). I love Gamehouse's rewards.

I bought the game on Steam because I had a gift card but I wish now that I had opted for BFG CE because a hint button would be useful Aha!

D-u-h! So here I was, in Chapter 2, having had to work really, r-e-a-l-l-y hard to get one inventory item. Finally got it by pure brute force of trying multiple combinations of things till something eventually worked. Along the way in my random quest, I managed to pick up 2 other inventory items virtually by chance as I was brute-forcing my way...pure serendipity, I thought, but grateful to have finding them out of the way. Anyhow, having finally chanced upon the solution that gave me the item I wanted and no clue of "how did they ever expect me to figure that out?", I went to use my hard-earned item, only to be presented with a problem that had at least 720 solutions. Surely no way to brute force that...ummm, though, silly masochist that I am, I did of course try several pseudo"obvious" attempts first, in hopes one would be correct. Ok, so clearly that approach failed and it finally dawned on me that surely they would have put a clue somewhere for me. And sure enough they had, when I finally went off to look for it. But after using it, I was presented with a new scene, part of which showed me how to get one of the objects I already had via the serendipity mentioned in the second sentence above. "Well, sheesh, thanks for nothing!", I thought, since NOW they were telling me, after I'd already mastered getting it. Ummm, not quite "thanks for nothing"...it reminded me that this game really doesnt expect me to have to brute force things. It happily gives me clues along the way, if only I were smart enough to take note of them as they appear. So, belatedly and too late to be useful, went off searching for the clue that would have given me the original object I'd worked so hard to get by brute force....to find it readily available, (almost) in plain sight. Moral of my story - brute force may work, but this game really does expect us to work a tad smarter & use brains and observation rather than pure randomness. Ah, good thing for my little mind to remember next time I go off randomly trying to solve something! Yeah, sure...who wants to bet I'll remember that only after trying to brute force my way yet again?? Ah, some of us are just downright untrainable! duh! Beautiful game, and very inventive. Thanks for yet another great choice for our group playing pleasure pennmom !

lurkercat, I feel your pain in chapter 2 I was trying random things to get and inventory item and after getting 2 that I needed with this method it dawned on me that I had seen that particular sequence somewhre else This is a charming game but pennmom was correct it is very sad.

I have the Steam version, too - and I'm kinda appreciate for the lack of hint button and mini-game skip option. It forces me to think, and look for options I have at hand to solve a particular puzzle. (if there would be a hint button I would frantically push it all the time).
On the down side, the story is extremely sad for the otherwise light and beautiful gameplay, for my taste. This game is definitely unique and well-thought. I've just flew away with the little seedling to mushroom town, and I'm looking forward to be able to return to it and continue brother Rabbit's adventure in the evening, when I will have more time to play.
I enjoy this game the most in our Group Play line up! Thanks!

Calling it a day here. Nearly ready for the moose ride. Huh, same developer as the game with the talking moose? Anyway, a fun game and am having an easier time since we've played this type before. By the way, where is my friend Jo?

metmichallica, smitty189, joybelle, good2bqueen, lurkercat, moni, I am probably way behind everyone because I was gone all day yesterday so I'm off to play for a while! THIS is my favorite kind of adventure, games like Varenje, The Tiny Bang Story, and even A Tale for Anna. I especially loved the tiny bang, I like having to search for several items and then having to apply them to the task while figuring out sequences etc. so if anyone knows of a game with this type of scenario, I'd love to add it to the list!
As for Jo, she did not submit her request for a vacation and/or subsequent adventure before departure otherwise I would have joined her...hmmm, good thing I'm not the suspicious type?! Anyway, she did send some videos and seems to be having a wonderful time!

That was a quick game. Especially compared to the last one. Sweet with a happy, seemingly abrupt ending. I was ready to dive into that sunshine. I was playing like a mad woman and used two hints so I wouldn't be left behind this time. Now I have some time to play last week's game. AND I think we should send Jo to the personnel office so next time she can give the appropriate notice when she's going away.

Ok, hate to admit it, but I'm stuck. Very near the end, I think, but I've tried all the things I can reasonably think to try using "logic"and the clues I can find. All unsuccessfully, so I tried the "Hint", and it merely points me to the area I already know I need to work in. I resorted to looking at a YouTube video and their solution makes absolutely no sense to me, so I have not bothered to try it yet. I dont want to progress till I understand the answer & have a chance to look at the scenes to figure out what it is I am missing. I'm in Chapter 5. Rabbit is holding his comatose sister on the brown platform, under the column with 6 colors, arranged in 2 columns of 3 rows each. The colors are blue, green, orange, red, yellow, and purple. Apparently I need to put them in the "right" order so my characters can advance. Can someone give me a hint as to "why" the answer is as it is? {Spoiler}There are shadow colors off to the sides of this array, which I'm presuming are meant to give me a clue as to the arrangement? However, I've set my colors that way, set them as mirror images, set them as upside down, set them as upside down mirror images, tried to set them based on which direction the shadows were pointing in (but was thwarted in this as 4 of them point in 1 direction, so dont match the available rows) - nothing worked. I've looked elsewhere through the scenes to see if the colors appear elsewhere to perhaps override the ones I see at the scene itself, but didnt find anything (which is of course NOT to say they are not there, just that if so, I missed them). I cannot come up for a rationale for the ways the colors are set in the YouTube video. Also tried to see if I need to be putting a lever or something into the round opening at the bottom right of the array, but dont see any likely candidates (and the YouTube video did not have anything there). I dont want to just set my colors this way without understanding why it is "right". Can anyone give me a hint....please!???

I am way behind you lurkercat , I only got 1 chapter done yesterday because RL got in my way so I am just on Chapter 3 now, after putting the Moose together to cross the ravine. good2bqueen , whoo hooo congrats I did come across a tiny glitch in the scene with the ships wheel, that eventually paddles the water. There was a lotus on the branches behind the wheel plain as day but when I picked up the other lotus in that scene, the Icon changed to grey indicating there were no more lotus flowers in that scene! (it should have stayed blue) Also, I loved the spider game where you put red, blue & green accordingly on outer, inner & middle sections and I had the darndest time trying to find the last clue for the shapes machine (at the end of the dock) to open the hatch containing the pipe (had a pipe, plug wire, and a washer in total) (both games in chapter 2) also, the Mushroom game (NOT the mushroom weights) took me 2 moves to complete by simply guessing, and I hated the mouse game where you had to light all mice by moving 3 mice spaces clockwise or 2 mice spaces counterclockwise I look forward to the HO scenes where you find parts to put something mechanical together at the end of each chapter, I love that it makes a musical tone with each new part, reminded me of My Singing Monsters!

Finished just in time for my hand treatment tomorrow Cool Dancing . What a great game, the story is so sad but the best ending of course and it was so fun to try and figure out all those perverse clues. Onward to Sam and Max, can't wait!
