Way too abrupt an ending, but a totally delightful game. For those of you who have the "Extras" option on the title screen, check out the Artbook. Lots of pretty snapshots from the game and a few snippets of commentary. You cannot view the Artbook directly, apparently. Seems to insist on being downloaded to your Documents folder, but it is a very pretty memory book - and also has a shot of (what I assume is) the development team near the end - wish they had included a caption with their respective names - I love getting to see the folks who bring me such enjoyable things.

Okay, I'm home. Got in last night. I had a wonderful time and already miss my Mom, brother and brother-in-law. My Mom will fly back to Florida in another 10 days from Chicago. Came home to a very frantic little cat who has been velcro-ed to me since I walked in the door. Apparently my daughter wasn't an acceptable substitute cat mother.
lurkercat, and smitty189 approved this vacation or were at least very supportive so I don't think I should be sent to HR or get a time out. Next time I'll go through the proper channels as soon as I find out what they are. We need an employee handbook or I'm calling my union rep!
Looks like everyone is having fun with My Brother Rabbit. I haven't played it yet.

Welcome back Jo! I think I see where the mix-up was, turns out we don't actually have a HR here so that's why I didn't get notified! I rode/flew my bike onto the next chapter....have no idea how far I have to go yet, lost track of the chapter count

Jo , I just finished a few days ago so I was flying solo most of the time. Still trying to figure out what was wrong with the little girl? I haven't figured that out either. The poor little flower in the fantasy part of the game is so sick and Rabbit is so worried. This strikes me as a personal story so I wonder if it was a real event in the life of one of the creators. That makes it even more poignant.
I just finished the fourth part and sailed off on my tricycle to find Flower in the sand. I had a hard time with that tricycle because I'm a dolt and it didn't dawn on me for the longest time that I could use the chair as the seat. The game is pretty good about showing you that what is interactive will be used at some time in the game. But, even after playing with the chair numerous times, I kept searching everywhere for a tricycle seat.
I'm highly amused by the various machines we have to build. They have personality...noisy personality but personality nevertheless. And I found the puzzles to be interesting and fun to solve, although not particularly difficult.
The music is wonderful. The composer is Arkadiusz Reikowski who wrote the sound tracks for Layers of Fear, Vampire the Masquerade, The Medium, Observer, a bunch of HOPAs like the Grim Legends games and Clockwork Tales and a ton more. The singer of Dreams, the song on the main menu, is Emi Evans who provided vocals for Nier and Dark Souls. I keep searching for a English translation of Dreams but, so far, no luck. It's a lovely, haunting song that is perfect for the bittersweet story.

The CE version allows you to replay the HO's I liked the sounds each new part made, it reminded me of My Singing Monsters

Jo , pennmom , Clever is a good way to describe this game. And different. Two things missing in current games.

Jo , pennmom , Clever is a good way to describe this game. And different. Two things missing in current games. It is a clever game. I really like that the whole game environment is alive. You can click almost everything and get a response. Much more interesting and fun than a flat, static environment. Kudos to the devs for a lot of good thinking!

My Brother Rabbit was so successful, they poured a ton of money into promotions and even gave away several Keys, makes you wonder why they didn't make a sequel or another similar adventure game. Some of my all time favorite HOPAs were by this developer I know the list is long but these are all games produced by Artifex Mundi. If they were developed & produced by Artifex Mundi their name will be in parentheses Artifex Mundi developed & produced games available:
(developers in parentheses)*9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek: The Ward (Tap-It Games) *300 Dwarves (Artifex Mundi) *Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden (Artifex Mundi) *Agent Walker: Secret Journey (Brave Giant) *Bladebound F2P (Artifex Mundi) *Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink (Artifex Mundi) *Chronicles of Magic: Divided Kingdoms (The House of Fables) *Crime Secrets: Crimson Lily (One More Level) *Dark Arcana: The Carnival (Artifex Mundi) *Dark Heritage: Guardians of Hope (World-LooM-The House of Fables) *Deadly Puzzles: Toymaker (Artifex Mundi) *Demon Hunter: Chronicles From Beyond~New Chapter~Revelation~Riddles Of Light~Ascendance (Brave Giant) *Endless Fables: The Minotaur's Curse~Frozen Path~Dark Moor (Sunward Games) *Enigmatis: The Ghosts Of Maple Creek~The Mists Of Ravenwood~The Shadow Of Karkhala (Artifex Mundi) *Eventide: Slavic Fable~The Sorcerer's Mirror~Legacy Of Legends (House of Fables) *Faces of Illusion: The Twin Phantoms (Moonrise Interactive) *Fairy Tale Mysteries: The Puppet Thief~The Beanstalk (Gogii Games) *Ghost Files: The Face of Guilt (Brave Giant) *Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride~Song Of The Dark Swan~The Dark City (Artifex Mundi) *Haunted Domains (Artifex Mundi) *Hospital Haste (Artifex Mundi) *Joan Jade and the Gates of Xibalba (Artifex Mundi) *Left In The Dark: No One On Board (Moonrise Interactive) *Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom~Shard Of Mystery~The Forgotten Well (World-LooM) *Maluch Racer (Artifex Mundi) *Mind Snares: Alice's Journey (World-LooM) *Modern Tales: Age Of Invention (Orchid Games) *My Brother Rabbit (Artifex Mundi) *Mythic Wonders: Philosopher's Stone (Organic 2 Digital Studios) *Nightmares From The Deep: The Cursed Heart~The Siren's Call~Davy Jones (Artifex Mundi) *Noir Chronicles: City Of Crime (Brave Giant) *Persian Nights: Sands Of Wonders (So Digital-Artifex Mundi) *Princess Isabella: A Witch's Curse~Return of the Curse~The Rise Of An Heir (World-LooM-Gogii) *Queen's Quest: Tower Of Darkness~Stories Of Forgotten Past~The End Of Dawn~Sacred Truce~Symphony Of Death (Brave Giant) *Scarlett Mysteries: Cursed Child (World-LooM) *The Emerald Maiden: Symphony of Dreams (Gogii Games) *The Myth Seekers: Legend of Vulcan~The Sunken City (Sunward Games) *The Secret Order: Masked Intent~Ancient Times~Beyond Time~The Buried Kingdom~Bloodline~New Horizon~Shadow Breach (Sunward Games) *Tibetan Quest: Beyond The World's End (Brave Giant) *Time Mysteries: Inheritance~The Ancient Spectres~The Final Enigma (Artifex Mundi) *Tiny Dragons F2P (Artifex Mundi) *Tiny Tales: Heart of the Forest (Brave Giant) * Legends: The True Story Of Kisilova (Organic 2 Digital Studios) As you can see, several were developed by Brave Giant and World Loom...I sure do miss their HOPAs!

Very interesting, pennmom We have Enigmatis 2: Mists of Ravenwood on the group play list but some of us might be interested in revisiting other Artifex Mundi games.
So it might be worth our effort as group players to add Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love to our group play list. Poland has been a steadfast ally to Ukraine taking in almost 3 million refugees the last time I checked and supplying goods and armaments. I already own it at Steam and I can't find it at GOG, Fanatical, Humble Bundle or Big Fish. It was released for Linux, Mac, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch and Xbox One.
Just a suggestion.
ETA: I should add that I do realize that profits from the sale of Irony Curtain are no longer being donated but it's still a nice gesture to play the game.

I finished with 16 hours on the clock, 28/30 achievements and two trading cards. I did get the Barbugcue trading card: I'm glad I got this one because I found the little guy cooking his sausage in every level to be adorable. The 16 hours on the clock don't mean anything because I left the game running while I ate lunch, did dishes, talked on the phone, etc. And if I didn't get most of those achievements, it would mean I was stuck and going no where.
This was a good game and I enjoyed it. Whoever suggested it, deserves a pat on the back for a good choice.
pennmom, It wasn't as sad as I was afraid it would be. What a relief!

I'm glad I got this one because I found the little guy cooking his sausage in every level to be adorable. I thought that little guy was hilarious too, I kept clicking on him thinking it was surely an Easter Egg, I wonder if it was some kind of running joke with the developers? I say this because back when Friendly Fox was 4 Friends Games, they shared a picture of a stork sitting on a nest that was included in several of their games because of a running office joke (but I can't remember what the joke was about)

I have three reactions after I finish a game. (Sometime I do throw up my hands in the middle of a game and think that life is too short for this, I can't take anymore and abandon the darn thing.)
The first and most frequent reaction is basically indifference. Okay, played it, finished it, time to move on.
The second is relief. Played it, finished it, good riddance to bad rubbish, I'll never do that again.
The third is regret. Played it, finished it, but I'm sorry to see it go and wish it had lasted a little longer.
I wish that My Brother Rabbit had gone on a little bit longer because I enjoyed it so much.
So I decided to take a look at other Artifex Mundi games and see what I had in my BF library and hadn't played for a while. I chose Dark Arcana: The Carnival released in October 2012. I don't think I've ever replayed it but who doesn't love a creepy carnival. I have, of course, forgotten nearly everything about it so it will be like a new game. We'll see if I like it.

Yeah, Jo, I was really sorry to see My Brother Rabbit end too. Also had Dark Arcana in my purchase history, with the comment "Excellent game; lots of things to do, though puzzles could stand to be a bit more difficult. Bonus chapter and NOT requiring CE!!". Also had a number of others on pennmom's list, and yesterday downloaded Scarlett Mysteries & the first Lost Grimoires, which I didnt have and never trialed, to give them a try. My recollection from the Artifex Mundi games I have played was that, while many were good, none had the character and endearing spirit of My Brother Rabbit. Hope they consider making others in that style.

lurkercat, I've played about an hour into Dark Arcana and was just thinking how nicely the Artifex Mundi had matured as story tellers and game creators. Rabbit really is a much better game, better graphics and story, although Dark Arcana is pretty good. I'm enjoying it so far.
I've got Scarlett Mysteries but none of the Lost Grimoires games. I used to always play the demos before buying at BF so I must have decided against buying them. I'll try the demo for #1 to see if I like it. They were developed by World Loom and AM is the publisher. They're all available at Steam for $9.99. I'm no longer a BF member so not paying $19.99 for each although there's a BOGO sale today.
Do you have Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka? Years ago when I still at Pond Friends, Artifex offered a beta of the game to get feedback. I played that and liked it so bought the game when it came out. Never played it and they posted that it had changed significantly from the beta.

Jo, nope, dont have Irony Curtain and apparently did not trial it when it came up at PF. Too pricey currently for me, but I'd be interested if it goes on a substantial sale. I keep a file of all trials & games I play, with some notes on what I thought about them....but mainly 'cause I used to only have dialup, and it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to download anything (hours and/or days!) so I needed to keep track so I didnt accidentally download something I'd already tried. Get a smile out of it now - my ISP keeps trying to convince me to increase my download speed & I keep turning them down, telling them that since I can now download games in a few minutes vs many, many hours, I'm more than content and dont need anything faster. Somehow they fail to appreciate my logic!

lurkercat, Jo, pennmom, I too was wondering why no sequel to My Brother Rabbit was never made and acccording to their webpage they have done to the dark side and wre doing mobile games (FP2 type I believe it said - don't know what that is). So sad. Only games from AM I ever played were the Enigmatis ones which I enjoyed so I am definitely going to start demoing their games. Hope Pennmom is enjoying Hilton Head and that they aren't getting the storms plaguing NC
