If I use my points to buy a game, will I still earn points or do I only earn points if I pay for the game?

You only earn points when you pay with real money....so no, you will not get any points if you pay with points. Moreover, in the past, you got PCC credit when you used your Game Club Credit to buy a game. Now, since instead of getting a game club credit, you get points, you get no points when you use that to buy a game...so you lose an added bennie there too since the 15% point bonus will not be applied.

BF point system....Check this out. Quite a few of the games I want to either demo or buy will not open for me. Granted some do and some do not. I never know which ones until I try. After sending in numerous tickets about this issue After 24 days BF decides to add an additional 6990 points to my accumulated points. Yay right?? No, what good are they if I cannot play the games? Are they nuts or what.

Or they wouldn't launch all together?

Has anyone else who typically paid in a non-USD currency had the problem of being charged in USD despite making sure your settings were correct for your currency? My first sub payment after the change said it was going to be $8.98CAD (up from $7.14 I should add) and then I ended up getting charged in USD instead which added a big currency conversion fee on top, bringing it to $9.57CAD. I've been fighting with BF for weeks over this and was told "all orders are now being processed in USD" which made me very angry as the site had showed one price and then without telling me charged me something different. Now they are back-peddling with "would like to clarify that the prices are based on USD" after I said I was going to the BBB with a fraud complaint. And they threw a bunch of points at me to shut me up. But I'm concerned about their ripping customers off, so I'm curious if this is happening for other "foreign" customers. I don't know how far to take this fight and I'm feeling very depressed about my once beloved BFG.

orionsrose, yes..I am AU currency...and I DID know that since the swap we would be charged in US currency. I have the boxes ticked too for my currency. However I also have to work out the tax which is charged extra on top of the game price that appears on my screen. My totals are often a few dollars more than what shows. But this happens with all online buys from USA sites unless it specifically says AU alongside the price. It is hard and seems unfair..but it's normal practice for US businesses. I always know unless it says AU...it will be more. And the tax thing the same. It would indeed help if BFG DID bother to list the local currency plus the tax when we are deciding to purchase. Otherwise..why even bother with the 'country of origin currency' tabs at all? You are not alone. Our dollar is nowhere near the value of the US dollar, so it has become quite expensive. Still..it's just made me more fussy about buys, as I do actually like their offerings, but really glad that steam users are calling out when the same game is much cheaper there and other platforms. Hooray for this forum High Five

The only games I buy now are HOPA CE's and only because they aren't available for a while on Steam
Part of me would like to believe that BF has lost a lot of business and doesn't sell as many games since 8-2-22 but in reality they are probably making more money and don't have to sell as many games because honestly, we all became very adept at working the punch card system and using our monthly credits on BOGO sales etc.
Does anyone remember how much it cost for a membership from BF when they 1st offered memberships?
When you look at these stats they all seem to be sinking stats versus a company that is booming
History
The company was founded in 2002.[4] In 2009, it announced the opening of their European headquarters in Cork, Ireland.[citation needed]
In July 2010, the company passed one billion game downloads from its online portal.[5]
In August 2013, the company announced the closing of its cloud-based games service, Vancouver studio and Cork offices.[6]
In 2014, the company was acquired by Churchill Downs Inc. in a deal valued at up to $885 million.[7][8]
In 2018, Churchill Downs sold Big Fish to Australian gambling machine manufacturer Aristocrat Leisure for $990 million.[9]
In September 2018, Big Fish cut 15% of its workforce,[10] and September 2020, it cut nearly 50% of its workforce.[11]

I don't know how far to take this fight and I'm feeling very depressed about my once beloved BFG. Are you logged in when you check? I was greeted the other day with the information that a CE now costs over $27 CAD. Unless Park Ranger 14 is someday available on Steam (I only buy the CE of that game), I won't ever get to finish it. I am NOT paying that outrageous price. Even for the sake of some future NaNoWriMo novelization project, it's not worth it. I've been commenting on Big Effing Gougers' FB page over the past few weeks and may have let it slip that for Canadian customers who want the SE version of Park Ranger, Steam only charges $7.99 + tax (we don't have PST in Alberta, so it's only an additional 5%). They have to realize that a price jump of this magnitude - games are more than DOUBLE what they were before - is just not doable. I bought one game since the change, couldn't install or activate it even from my purchase history, and finally asked them at what point should I give up hoping I'd actually be able to play the game I paid for and just open a dispute with PayPal? I gave them a choice: Fix this mess or refund my money. They refunded my money and gave me 699 more points that aren't enough for anything (though the Customer Lack of Service person chirped that "your next game is on us"). Sorry, you mean one-quarter of my next game is on you, given the ever-increasing price in CAD. I haven't bought any games there since. I bought 3 on Steam today (I had no idea there were so many cat games...). During the recent sale I bought Civilization III, V, and VI. It will take YEARS to figure those out (since my expertise stops at Civilization II: Test of Time). Good thing I belong to a Civ forum and am friends with a couple of Civ III experts who will be happy to teach me. It's a shame BFG isn't a Canadian company. We could sic Go Public on them.

orionsrose, it only takes a second to file a BBB claim an BF does respond (they have a timeframe in which to respond) I look at it as a way to keep companies honest, and who knows how many other customers are having the same issues!

orionsrose , I don't remember how I found out purchases would be charged in US dollars after the swap...but I think it was announced..but I think I picked it up here on one of the threads where people had cut and pasted some bits of the announcement. Maybe the thread 'New bigfish points system'...which contained all our discussions before the actual swapover happened. ..But I was aware, and as I shop online sometimes I knew it would add to my prices. Basically plus $4 per SE and $8 for a CE...and then I have to add the tax on top of that. I think that is my main sticking point...that the added tax is NEVER listed on the price you click and agree too. Americans are used to this I believe..but we are not.

There are a lot of angry people posting on BFG's Facebook page, and some have been talking about a class-action lawsuit.
Considering that for every person who complains there are many more who suffer in silence, I'd hazard a guess that there are probably thousands of people who are seriously pissed-off.

Just got my credit card bill and I got charged in CAD this time! Clapping My price is still insane, of course, due to our exchange rate, but thank goodness I avoided those conversion fees this time. No idea whether it's due to something BF "fixed" or whether it's due to the fact I hovered around my account page during the day my sub came out constantly checking to make sure it said the right currency throughout the day. Any thoughts? Any other BF customers using different currencies get billed in their own currency for a subscription payment recently? Really hoping it's an actual fix and not my lurking - I can't do that every month.
