The cool thing about short term memory loss is that you can pull up games you bought in mumble mumble and be gobsmacked that you don't remember them at all. It doesn't always work, 'cause some games are flat out unforgettable even with CRS, but for the most part it's a win-win.
I gotta' say, Domini drove me to do just that. But then, I had to expand where I was going with my retro adventures. Since BF doesn't list games in series release, I went out on the web to both game studios and to run random searches. Wow. Couldn't wait for the sales days! But, I ran out of games to buy from or through my fav studios, and a few studios I never heard of (don't ask: CRS < great alibi, btw).
So now what.
Along comes the day of infamy, August 2nd, and eventually a dynamite search results revamp. Hey, at least some good came out of it, okay?
Anyway, I was over on Steam looking for adventure games when I stumbled across one that looked familiar but very interesting. I went to BF to demo in order to find out if I own it*. The name of the game is Shadowplay. The search results, once filtered, provided me with the Shadowplay link and a bunch of games related to "shadow". Whoa! What? What's this game, and that game, and oh-boy-look-at-this!
Yeah, some are duds, but the majority are awesome - true hidden gems . The big benefit is the savings since all game prices are not created equal. AND provided BF gets their cart problem sorted out so we can actually buy their games . (8/29/22) THE CART STARTED WORKING AGAIN ON THE uh... 30th? 31st?
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Pick a keyword, like 'curse' or 'shadow' or 'mystery'; just have fun with it.
2. Search in BF and be sure to filter your search in the left hand column. Or not: A coupla' weeks ago I bought a really cool game that was only available in French.
3. Run over to Steam and do the same thing.
4. Keep going back and forth until you've rounded up a nice collection. Haven't been over there in a while, but I'm sure you can add GameHouse and Wild Tangent to your searches.
TIP: In your browser's Bookmark Manager, create a folder for GAMES and store the links to your BF Wishlist in there since unlike Steam, BF has no wish list feature You can also create sub-folders for different genres or game sites.
*Those of us who have a large library at BF are limited to downloading the demo of an owned game then clicking on "Buy" if it does not automatically show as activated. Or, open the demo, close the demo, then click on 'reactivate' under the buy button in the 'play again' Game Manager window. There are other problems with owning too many games that are discussed elsewhere.
