Which is your favourite word board game? If you prefer a different word board game, please tell which game (or games) you think is better and why.

Scrabble, of course. I never heard of the other one.
Hangman is fun as well. On the Star Trek forum I belong to, there's a group of us who play Star Trek Hangman. The idea is to guess a quote from one of the shows or movies, and the winner hosts the next round.
Which reminds me, it's my turn to host the next round...
We also play Acronymize - the idea is to start with a word and someone can try to make a coherent sentence of the letters. For instance, if someone posted the word "yell" the sentence would be 4 words long and each would start with the corresponding letter (my solution to this word is "Young elephants love lettuce."
Then the next word to be made into a sentence would be "lettuce." Some people go out of their way to include insanely long last words. Thank goodness for the word "xylophone" - it's been very useful in these words.

I like the Worddle (Mastermind with letters) type of word games, like this one:
I also like the Bookworm type of games, like this one:
And the "Text Twist" type of games, like this one:
I also like the Hangman type of word games.
And I own, play and enjoy this one - I'm not sure what category it fits to - it's battle with letters, lol:'
So it's probably easier what letter games I don't really like, and that would be Crossword puzzles and the likes, simply because they are too difficult for me.

Love Scrabble, use to play a lot of Trivial Pursuit, not really a full on word game but has some of the elements.

It's apparently been around for awhile, but I only discovered Bananagrams recently, after seeing it played in two different movies (Peter Rabbit and Wedding Season). I've always hated Scrabble, but loved crosswords so I was intrigued. Got it for my mother (a Scrabble fiend) for Christmas and we freakin' love it! It's fast (10-20 min. per game), easy to learn, good for all ages, super portable, and really fun. We play at least once a week. I thought some of you might have played it with your families. I thought I'd ask in a poll in case there were other folks who loved it too, and I thought maybe people would have some other word board game suggestions for my family and friends to play together. We especially like games we can play during power-outages since we have a lot of windstorms and Bananagrams has been perfect for that, thankfully. But any word board game suggestions are welcome. Aha!

Not a word game but when we lost power, which happened a lot many moons ago, the family would light some candles or a lamp and we'd play Yahtzee, fun game to play with others

This is the regular version, but we typically play a less chaotic version called Smoothie where you split all the tiles evenly among the players and there is no "peeling" - you just build your crossword as quick as you can to win. As there can be ties quite easily everyone tries to build a long word within their crossword that acts as a tiebreaker. Our record is 12 letters. Once, the universe did indeed hate me and I got all the Qs and no Us and could not remember any words that could work. Needless to say, I did not win that game! OMG But it was fun trying.

I don't get to play word board games because on a scale of 1 to 10 on how good we are with words, my husband's a 3 and I'm a 15. Don't know why he won't play with me. Cheesing

Our family Go-To game is Cards Against Humanity. Although not a board game, it's hard not to have fun while playing!
We would set up 2 six foot tables in our garage at the old house and leave the door open, eventually our neighbors would see the set up and would hop on their 4wheelers and head on over
That says a lot because
A-We all had a minimum of 5 acres, some of our neighbors were several acres away
B-Who knew a card game could be fun for such a broad range of people? C-Never mind, I forgot alcohol was always involved Rolling Along

I'm rewatching old King of the Hill episodes and realized I completely forgot about Boggle! Not that I actually like that one all that much, but still, it's a word board game type.

orionsrose , I'm quoting you because we don't get notifications for replies in those little boxes below the posts. Acronymize, to my knowledge, only exists in the Admirals' Lounge on the TrekBBS forum (Star Trek forum I belong to). I wish I could link to it to show you, but you have to either have I forget how many thousands of posts on that forum to even see this lounge, or else become a premium (paid) member. Nobody else can see it. It's easy enough for anyone to play, though. The fun is in coming up with words to make a coherent sentence. The word I had to do recently ended in "-ying" so I ended the sentence with " yodeling in New Glasgow". That sparked a discussion about whether or not Scottish people enjoy yodeling, even though New Glasgow is in Nova Scotia, not Scotland. Then I mused about yodeling and bagpipes... and would you believe that's actually a thing? There's a video of it on YouTube. At any rate, we tend to make good use of online thesauruses and dictionaries to find words starting with specific letters that will help extend the sentence.
