What is your natural rhythm in life?
Do you find it easy to get a jump on the day?
Do you happily stay up late?
Or are you just a sleepy duck morning and night?

I can't seem to be able to vote...but I am a Night Owl..through and through. I love the nights..no interuptions, no phone calls..and now I am retired...I get to sleep in which really helps . I Paddled through many a 'bleary eyed' work day back when......But it worked out quite well for me when I was married to a musician Cheesing

Night owl, tried to fight it for decades and thought I was chronically ill until my "past life" working 8-5 every day ended and had to switch careers. Now happily working 2nd shift and sleeping in every day and got off all my prescription meds within 2 years of starting the new job. Yes, I had to "start over" professionally and still don't earn what I used to, but I'm living proof money isn't everything! :D

Definitely a night owl and not at all a morning person. Oddly, though, while I was working, I found I accomplished the most & had the best ideas in the morning....quite an odd combination of doing my best when I didnt even want to be awake! Much happier now that I'm retired and get to sleep in AND dont have to be sociable till after several cups of "morning" (errr, perhaps early afternoon) tea.

I would prefer to be a night owl like I was back in the day but alas, I wake up early :(

Most of my life I've been an Early Bird. I come from a long line of dairy farmers and so it was in my genes to wake up early to milk the cows. Having never owned a cow, it seemed an unnecessary trait. Then I had four kids, three of whom were teenagers at the same time. The only guaranteed space of peace and quiet was at the crack of dawn. So I got up even earlier to have time to drink my coffee and read the paper before the onslaught of bad hair days, mislaid homework and skirmishes over the last bowl of Cheerios started and I had to go to work.
Now the retired me is neither/nor. I wake up when I wake up, sometimes early sometimes late. And I go to sleep when I'm ready, sometimes early sometimes late. I pay no attention to the clock or calendar except for Tuesdays which are trash days. I don't take naps. I have all the peace and quiet anyone could ever imagine. I just do what I want when I want it.

For Jo and her street cred...
Oh wait...were you hoping to improve it? I thought we were sealing your fate as a softy here. ;)

orionsrose, My life as an Early Bird has been less than exciting and it does run in the family. Years ago when we all lived closer to each other, we, my 5 siblings and all our spouses, would go out on the town once a month. Each time a different person would pick the activity. We always went out to eat, because we love food, and sometimes, usually when one of the spouses had a turn, we would go to a music venue or out dancing. Now since I'm confessing my totally thrilling, exhilarating, electrifying and invigorating life, when we went dancing, by about 9:30, all of my siblings and I would be slumped in our chairs nodding off while the spouses were out on the dance floor whooping it and having a grand old time. To compound the problem, we come from a long line of Methodists.
So we're all terrible drinkers. One cocktail and we're ready to lay our heads down because we have to get up early to milk the cows anyway.
I did find it a little depressing that now you all know how unexciting I am when I'm sure everyone at the Woods thought I was a scintillating bon vivant and woman of the world. It did put a dent in my street creds.
But I do love cows especially Jersey cows.

orionsrose - I voted for both - but actually I'm neither - I go to bed anytime between 9 pm and 4 am - I get up anytime between 6 am and 11 am

I'm a natural born night owl. I even hoot sometimes. I lived in a dorm throughout college, studied in the nights - slept through the lectures in the back row of the auditorium, then I worked in a Casino - perfect night time job. Then when I moved to US, I worked as a bartender and went to college here, too, in the day time, and slept through the lectures. Then I've become self employed so I can work nights at my own pace. So yes. I'm hooting still.

I have an odd sleep schedule. I get up at noon if I'm not working that day, and go to bed after two in the morning. It's been happening to me for years and I can't seem to fix it. Night Owl all the way!

Apparently, I was a born night owl. My poor mother was/is an early bird and I have never slept before midnight right from the get-go. I maintain I was just born in the wrong time zone. I simply should have been born in Hawaii...problem solved
