Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad we found this forum, looking forward to chatting with you all. One thing we are always in short supply of is good and honest feedback from our players. We love our job and the games we made and are always trying to make them better, or at least use the experience and feedback from players to make the new ones even better.
We're Cateia Games, an old studio, we started way back in 1998, making strategy games and then later, in 2007 shifted to casual games and have never looked back; We've made all sorts of games, mostly Hidden Object, HOPA and time management games and are now in the process of renewing/updating as much titles as we can. Making bug fixes and new features wherever we can.
Currently we've renewed most of our catalog on Apple's platforms and are now working on Steam and Android. We also have some new games in the works as well.
What do you think of our games? What are the things you loved about them, and what didn't you like? What would you like to see in the future;

Welcome kspes! Great to have you here. We are a mixed bunch and use lots of different platforms for games, but many of us are on Steam, so we will find you there. I have been around long enough to know all your old games as well as new, and look forward to the next 'Mongomery Fox'. I am a TM tragic and still play your old TM's Caveman Tales and Kingdom series. (new games along those lines would be wonderful (hint hint LOL) Great to have you with us!

Awesome :) Yeah, the new Montgomery Fox is on it's way with some new features, hope you like it :) Regarding TM games, yeah, we have plans to make new games in this genre, are there any features you've seen in other TM games that you think could be nice to have in our new TM games? What do you think of adding clear-the-road levels in between regular ones? would that be annoying or add some varity/break from the usual gameplay?

kspes , personally..I think that would be fine. (although not totally sure of what they would look like?) We are always willing to either BETA test or just comment on anything developers are working on..so if you ever want to make a level and give us a sneak peek...we are here! (absolutely no obligation of course) I play lots of different TM's...mostly if I am thinking what you mean by 'clear the road'...(because you had 'some clearing' in your games, and bridge building etc ) Most other TM's are mainly that...so I am 'in' Just shout out when you are ready to roll pennmom will be awake soon....(we are all in different time zones) and I am sure she will be here to greet you too.

kspes , The message above also...but I forgot to add that I also loved Fate of the Pharoah...and especially 'Country Tales'...AND I LOVED the hidden treasure chests feature you had in some games! I am not a great fan of 'cooking or serving food' games..I never buy them...but that's just me... I know they are popular with many. I just like any sort of 'build, gather and go the right way' type TM.

kspes, Welcome2Woods joybelle is one of our resident TM gurus, and she definitely knows her stuff! I would love to see another great HOPA! Where Angels Cry is a classic! I also loved The Man With An Ivory Cane, and anything that plays like an adventure game that makes me have to think about a task versus being on auto-piolet. Now, can we talk about a sequel to one of my all-time favorite games? The Red Crow Mysteries: Legion...WOW incredible story & gameplay, but you left us hanging! The graphics are a bit dark, which turned some people off, but I kind of liked the creepy factor....so I will beg...please, please, please :)

@ joybelle hmm, beta versions, I just might take you up on that offer. by "clear-the-road" mechanics I mean time management games where you have a lot of obstacles you have to clear to pass the level. you don't build anything. @pennmom red crow mysteries... who knows, we just might make a sequel, lot's of interesting possibilities for this storyline! Interestingly, a lot of people seem to like this game in particular though we always thought of it as an average game. must be a prefessional deformation as we look at our games through a very self-critical eye. The artwork could be improved but it was the best we could make at that time.. We recently fixed some annoying bugs in this game and updated it on Apple platforms, Steam is coming next! Would you like to see more or less hidden object gameplay in the potential sequel? "Red Crow Mysteries" and "Tales from the Dragon Moutain: The Strix" were our 2 games with experimental hidden objects integrated in the actual locations, was never sure if that was an improvement or not...?

Yep...'clear the road' levels sound good! If you are concerned..you could make them a 'side' level...then ppl can keep playing the main game and 'skip' them if they find it annoying? I must admit in some other TM's...I skip the 'side' 'puzzle levels' or 'bonus games'...and go back later if I feel like it so it does not interfere with my main level stride.

If HOs are old school, count me in, but I'm okay with just pure adventure. You would probably get more HOPA fans with HOs. My #1 favorite HOPA is and probably always be the original Phantasmat by Codeminion. I love it because it has one of the coolest stories ever, I would give up graphics over a good storyline any day! (and I'd give anything to get a sequel story or something just similar to that plot) Speaking of graphics. I miss seeing individual cobblestones and old abandoned towns that give games an ominous vibe (Alawar developers were very good at this)

Just wanted to say and welcome kspes ! I hope your time here will be enjoyable and informative. In looking at your website and my own game spreadsheet notes, I see that I have played and enjoyed a couple of your games, Mary Le Chef and The Love Boat. I enjoyed those two because they felt like legit members of the Delicious f.amily of games which are some of my top favourites.

BTW, that's an intentional typo in the word , I can't type that word without it being replaced by a smiley and I didn't want it to cause confusion. You can click the Smileys icon and scroll to the bottom & click "disable Smileys"

I like many of your games but my top one is Where Angels Cry. I loved it! I also replay Fate of The Pharaoh every now and then. Another one, not mentioned before is The Seven Chambers and of course The Man With The Ivory Cane.

Welcome to the Woods, kspes! I've enjoyed so many of your games over the years and I for that. I recently replayed the Where Angels Cry games and the Red Crow Mysteries. All excellent games. Like pennmom, I'm all about the story and your studio knows how to tell a good story! The Legend of Crystal Valley was my first experience with group plays. I played it at BF years ago and loved it.
While looking at your Steam page, I discovered that I had purchased Seven Chambers and then forgotten about it. Downloaded and on the todo list! I had also forgotten about Hotel, which I own at BF so I downloaded that one, too. It runs absolutely fine on Win10 so I'll be playing that again along with Black Rainbow and Myths of Orion: Light from the North. I also had forgotten (I think I need to increase my daily dose of Ginkgo biloba) about Kaptain Brawe so I put that on my Steam wishlist. Don't know why I didn't buy it at BF.
Now I'm looking forward to Mongomery Fox.
I'm glad you're here!

Even though our more recent time management games have more improvements, fate of the pharaoh has a special charm to me, maybe it's the artwork, can't tell.
Regarding The Seven Chambers, that game had a very nasty bug at the beginning of the game but we finally managed to catch it and fix it with help from a few players! A new version is out on iOS and Mac and Nintendo switch. This is a very unique game, very odd but also very intriguing. The storyline author is an amazing person with a great imagination :)

! Honestly it always makes me happy to see people playing (and liking!) our games. Just like stage actors, us game developers live for the craft, it is the audience that makes it all worthwhile.
One of the things I'm personally battling with is the fact that games, as all software - age way too fast! If one was to shoot a movie, it could still be watched decades later with little loss to quality other than cultural changes. Write a good book and it could survive over a hundred years. But games depend on the machines they are designed for, and as they get replaced by newer generations, they can easily die out. Some of our older games, before Legend of Crystal Valley can't be run unless you have Windows 98 or XP, which almost no-one does these days. I've made it my mission to keep renewing our games for as long as I can. By renewing I mean making them available on newer platforms, updating them with bug fixes, and sometimes even new features.
Right now, my business partner's daughter is playing a cute little puzzle game we're bringing back from the dead - which we made before she was even born! And seeing her playing it and ejoying it means the world to me :)
PS: Wait for the updated version of Kaptain Brawe on Steam, it's coming soon. We updated it on iOS and Mac if you want a sneak preview (the demo content is free there). We added some new features and best of all - German voiceovers! So this game finally has voiceovers, granted - they're not English, but they're done so exceptionally well it really adds a new dimension to the game. To me it feels the same as watching japanese anime with japanese voiceovers. You don't understand what they're saying but it beats English dubs :D (that's IMHO of course)

Well, I just replayed Myths of Orion: Light from the North which I had purchased at BF in 2014. I'm sure I played it when I bought it but I didn't remember a thing about it. It is quite a good game. The graphics are great, the character art was wonderful with each face being unique and memorable, the voice acting is way above average and the music was exceptional. Music can make or break a game for me. The story was very good and told in a coherent and compelling manner. The protagonist was relatable and made appropriate comments throughout the game which furthered the plot and added another level of immersion. The puzzles, on the whole were interesting but there were too many "follow the leader" and "turn all the lights green" types for me but after a while I just skipped them and moved on. The HOS, although there were too many of them, were varied in style which always makes them more interesting. There were a lot of little details like a dirty telescope lens and a wounded elf actually having a bloodied arm that showed the care and imagination that went into this game. The good NPCs were more real and fleshed out than what one normally finds in a HOPA. The bad guys were just really one-dimensional bad and it was with great glee that I destroyed them. I played with the fastest hint/skip times possible so I could move on when I wanted to without wasting a ton of time. The journal was useful and the jump map showed available objectives plus where the NPCs were located. It played just fine on Win10 with no glitches, hiccups or lags. I would wholeheartedly recommend this game. It's fun, has an interesting story and was well worth the time spent playing it.
I started Black Rainbow the other day and played for about an hour. Somehow or other, I lost my save so I will start from the beginning today. This appears to be a straight adventure game and I was enjoying it a lot. I sort of remember some things about it but almost 10 years is a long time to remember a game when one has played hundreds of games in the interim. So it's Deja Vu All Over Again but I won't post any other Yogi Berra quotes or the John Fogerty tune.
My apologies to the real game reviewers here who do a much more professional job than I am capable.

kspes , I think it's really cool that you are going Full Steam Ahead! Yup, we're refreshing our games on as many platforms as possible. Steam didn't have a lot of our games, and what they did, we updated with achievements and bug fixes :)
