I agree, most of the comedians these days aren't funny, I use to be on the floor listening to Bob Hope or Paul Lynd.
Actor/actresses that I'm not partial to are considered by many as heart throbs, is that word used anymore?
Tom Cruise, although I did enjoy the movie Born on the Fourth of July, I really thought he was going to be a good actor until he wasn't, not a fan of the action type movies he went into, commercial successes, yes, but requires little acting ability, IMO
Brad Pitt, for some reason I think he just looks pretty but as far as being a good actor, well it's still up in the air, IMO.
David Spade, yes orionrose, totally agree with you on that one, just something about his smug expression that he always seems to have.
Jennifer Aniston, an attractive woman but no actress, well not to me.
I'm gonna get hung for the next one I'm sure...George Clooney, oh he's a looker but acting ability, he just ain't got it.
Hate movies with Tom Cruise or Sean Penn. Lately, I'm feeling that way about Nicholas Cage because every movie is bad and he plays really weird characters
I 100% love Bruce Willis and always have loved his movies, but you could tell that he was accepting any & all roles he came across over the last year as his memory began to decline. What happened to Bruce is horrible...and must have broken his 's hearts
Like orionsrose & kasie & pennmom there are Actor/Actresses I don't think can act. For me Majority of times won't watch movies or shows with them in it.
Of course there is a but - for me goes deeper.
Any Actor/Actresses who Does Not realize what they do is just a job and their job is entertainment for others which they get paid very well for. Being an Actor/Actresses doesn't make them any better then the Electrician, Plumber or the Person who picks up the garbage or any other profession. Yet some of them want to be treated like royalty and a few like they were Gods. I don't know them and they don't know me and I would say with 100% never will. Yet there are some Actor/Actresses who forget what they do is just a job and from their self appointed pedestals they think their opinions and words are like God has spoken them himself and all should listen and obey even if they don't practice what they preach. I have no patience or room in my life for that kind of arrogance, hypocrisy and entitlement. So for me an Actor/Actresses could be the best on the planet but if they fall under what I wrote above I won't watch them in anything they do.
A good thread and I feel like I killed it. Not my intentions and I'm sorry.
orionsrose , I do have a question. Do the Actors/Actresses have to be alive still? I am old and most of them have passed.
Kevin Costner - I watched with my Hubby movies with him in them. There were a few movies I did like but just the movies. I don't find him believable in the roles he plays. Watching and listening to him makes me feel he's just reading lines.
Movies today are good but I feel like they just blend into the woodwork after time. They just aren't classics that are never forgotten...just like music imo. The new generation of actors, writers, directors, composers have had a few moments over the years but they haven't had a "It'll go down in history" moment
My Gummy bear died My Unicorn ran away My Imaginary friend got kidnapped The voices in my head aren't talking to me I think I'm going SANE!
