I could do it without any of those! If you'd said no power for 24 hours, I'd be in a ball, crying.

I'm assuming if the internet is down, you still have coffee, a phone and a computer. If your phone dies, you still have coffee, internet and a computer. If your computer is down, you still have coffee, a phone and internet.
If you don't have coffee, you can't stay awake long enough to use the internet, your phone or your computer.
lisabella , I have two portable chargers that I keep charged all the time so I can charge my phone and Kindle in case of a power outage. But I have yet to find a battery/rechargeable coffee pot. In that case, and it's happened, you make your daughter drive to the closest open and buy you coffee.

Jo, I always have my Kindle and phone charged. My husband doesn't understand why. Just wait until we lose power for more than 24 hours and he'll understand. LOL But I can drink a large coffee and then take a 3 hour nap. I just want power to play on my computer or watch TV or have heat!

But I can drink a large coffee and then take a 3 hour nap. I just want power to play on my computer or watch TV or have heat! On three separate occasions we've had four day power outages. The last one was just over two days and we always have at least one every winter. It's snowing like crazy right now - wet, heavy snow. I can watch Netflix on my phone - not the best viewing but it will do in a pinch. One of my portable chargers will charge my phone twice and my Kindle once before it runs out of juice. One of the best things I ever bought. And I keep my iPad charged so I can play games. Coffee was the missing piece. I can't drink coffee after about 6PM or I'm up all night. I'm not a good sleeper anyway. During the last outage, one of my granddaughters went to Panera and got me hot broccoli cheddar soup. It was heavenly. Yes, your husband will understand when it happens. Shall we all sing a chorus of "I Will Survive"?

We've actually thought about getting a generator while we're here in Colorado. I know a lot of the US is under frigid temps and where we are, our power lines are buried so it's a bit less likely for us, but it's currently feeling like -3 and if we lost power, we'd freeze. It hasn't happened much and I think only for 8 hours but still. Right now would NOT be the time! I'm going to remind my husband right now! I had to give up caffeine due to headache/heart problems for a long time. I drank decaf (I know there's some caffeine in it) and I've always wondered if that's why caffeine just don't do anything for me anymore.

I have used this method in the past and it works pretty well. You can get the tea lights at the Dollar Store and then all you need is a muffin pan. Four tea lights work the best for regular sized kettle,

What an interesting question! And great answers from everyone! I don't use/have a cell phone so that one was easy. And my head would hurt more, but I could easily live without coffee too (can I still have tea? ). While I wouldn't want to be without internet, the computer is the big one from that list. At least with a computer I can still play my games. The real thing is power, or, more specifically heat. We went 3 days in late Nov. without power in 2007 and it was heat we missed the most. Our wood stove was broken and we just had to stay huddled in a small room together with our pets to keep us all warm. We've had some really long power outages where we live now too and the worst part is the lack of heat AND running water since our system needs power to work (no toilets!). But I've got a big one for you...this past Sept. our well went dry and we didn't have running water for 3 weeks! That was an unreal experience for me. The littlest things like washing your hands, or dishes, and brushing your teeth become a gigantic pain. We had to get showers and do laundry at friends' homes (that gets awkward fast!). We have 6 pets...it was not a fun time!

orionsrose, Do you have companies that deliver water? We had a well at our first house and if we got low we'd just have it delivered.
