I just watched this movie for the 1st time last night, SOLELY because the recent sing-along in the Shout Box raised my curiosity about it. FX did the original + Frozen 2 back to back so I watched them both. Good, but seemed kind of grim, heavy, and sad for movies designed for kids, which surprised me. Also was surprised none of the songs turned out to be earworms...though "do you want to build a snowman" sticks around in my brain, but just because of its Shout Box presentation. I liked baby Sven better than grown-up Sven and thought the trolls were really cute.

So glad you finally watched the movies lurkercat! Honestly, it took me years to get around to watching the first one and only recently watched the second myself. I tend to stay away from things that get too much hype as I usually find said things over-hyped by the masses. I thought both were good movies and I actually love the soundtrack from the first, but as I suspected I thought it was all a bit overrated. I agree with you about how heavy and grim they are, but it seems like most of the big animated Disney movies are like that in some way - dark themes seem to abide! I actually don't mind as they take you on an emotional and sometimes introspective journey. I have found some healing in these movies over my life. I do wonder if it's a bit much for the kids though too. As for earworms, I didn't think they were too bad from just seeing the movie, but some of them really stick with you if you listen to the soundtrack specifically!
