My Dad's birthday is 4/1. He was also a high school teacher. One year he walked into his class and everyone had turned their desks around. Another, his office was filled with balloons. I can't remember what we filled his car with the following year, I think toilet paper rolls. Good thing he liked us.

pennmom, it is quite possible a class did that! I had him for 2 years and did the balloons and the desks. I know one class gift wrapped all the pictures he had on the wall. LOL He taught for 52 years, I'm sure there were more creative souls out there.
