rionix, joybelle, I can't tell you how many people said "it isn't what it used to be" or make a statement that they don't like the newer Rescue Team Games. I was just reading an article about the recent BF employee purge and they claim it's because their casual market of games sales dropped drastically so the Casino & mobile games were making more profit. Sure, mobile is always going to be profitable, it doesn't take much to build a phone game app (but IF that person had a choice at that very moment they are playing that game on their phone, to have the capability to play the same game on a PC that had better features and larger graphics, they would NOT chose to play on their phone) Now here's my take on why Casual Games have tanked recently: 1-In the beginning, everyone was making money, games were selling like hotcakes, developers couldn't make a new game fast enough, and players couldn't buy them fast enough. 2-Because the supply couldn't keep up with the demand, "shortcuts" were deemed a necessity. We already know that BF instructed and taught the devs how to copy & paste graphics from 1 game to the next...this comes straight out of the mouths of the developers, there are several articles out there. 3-Cutting corners to develop games faster & cheaper gave birth to the Cookie-Cutter Game Era...at first it went un-noticed, but game after game became same after same and BF members started to stray and migrate to sites that had more choices, mainly Steam who had everything a gamer could want, and games they didn't know they wanted. 4-This caused a sharp decline in BF sales and Felix The Fish's head started spinning because not only are they noticing that people are no longer buying their money making games, but now memberships are also drastically declining and they are losing $6.99 a month from every disgruntled ex-member who simply left because they had to search for better quality games they weren't getting from BF anymore...they got their game-fix elsewhere! Faced with a crisis for the first time, and reminiscing about the Mystery Case Files era that exploded BF into a household name (globally at that) They searched for answers, they needed to find a way to get that back, but BF blindly decided that the casual gaming market was crashing because we no longer liked playing them. In reality it was because we no longer liked playing the "new cookie-cutter versions" of garbage they were selling. The GAMER rarely changes , we like what we like, we're creatures of habit... The GAMES themselves changed, they evolved to become easier to mass produce. The proof of this statement is obvious, why did we migrate to Steam if we supposedly no longer liked playing these games?... because we were looking for something that BF no longer offered! My point is, that every once in a while, a developer comes along, such as rionix, who pours their heart and soul into a game, because they care. You can clearly see that The Unexpected Quest was not a cookie-cutter game, and when you realize that he also created 2 of our beloved TM game series. The ones that he created originally were different because of those 4 above mentioned scenarios!
