World Wildlife Day – March 3, 2022~World
What do the orangutans of Borneo, the elephants of Sumatra, and the Black Rhino all have in common? Aside from all being totally cool animals that we watch on YouTube, the more sobering truth about these creatures is that they’re all critically endangered species. But on World Wildlife Day, the UN and its partners are planning to raise awareness of the gravity of this dire situation.
An animal is only placed on the critically endangered species list if the International Union for Conservation of Nature believes the animal faces a very high risk for extinction – extinction as in going the way of the dinosaurs and dodo. So what does critically endangered look like? Current estimates put the number of living Black Rhinos at around 2,500 in the entire world. Russia’s Amur Leopard, found in the far eastern recesses of the country, is on the verge of extinction, with only about 40 left in the world. Unfortunately, this list goes on and on.
To raise awareness of endangered species and what we all can do, the UN is celebrating World Wildlife Day on March 3, marking the day the group signed the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Bulgaria Liberation Day – March 3, 2022~Bulgaria
Bulgarian Liberation Day is commemorated on March 3 each year. The Treaty of San Stefano recognized Bulgaria as an independent state in 1878. This festival commemorates the Bulgarian volunteers who, with the help of Russian and Romanian soldiers, freed Bulgaria from nearly 500 years of Ottoman control during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878).
HISTORY OF BULGARIA LIBERATION DAY In about 681 A.D., Bulgaria formed a unified entity now called the First Bulgarian Empire. From 1185 to 1396, the Second Bulgarian Empire existed before falling to the Ottoman Empire. For almost 500 years, Bulgaria was under Ottoman authority.
Two failed uprisings against the Ottomans in 1875 and 1876 resulted in the killing of about 15,000 Bulgarians. Tzar Alexander II led Russia against the Ottomans in 1877, and on March 3, 1878, Russia and the Ottoman Empire signed the Treaty of San Stefano after fierce conflicts and considerable loss of life. The Principality of Bulgaria, often known as the Third Bulgarian State, was established as a result of the pact.
It was the first of several steps toward Bulgaria’s independence. The influence of the San Stefano Treaty was opposed by the Great Powers, and it was initially replaced by the Treaty of Berlin on July 13.
Despite this, Bulgaria gained independence from the Ottoman Empire on March 3, 1878, and was able to establish its leadership, government, and culture. Prince Alexander of Battenberg was elected as Bulgaria’s first ruler on March 3, 1880.
The Treaty of San Stefano, negotiated on March 3, 1878, bound the Ottoman Empire to recognize the re-foundation of the Bulgarian state that had been conquered during the Bulgarian–Ottoman wars in the 1300s. On February 19, 1880, it was declared the Day of Emperor Alexander II’s Assassination and the Signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty for the first time.
The Principality of Bulgaria declared its Liberation Day on the occasion of its 10th anniversary in 1888. It wasn’t until 1978 that it began to be commemorated on a national level. On February 27, 1990, the Chairman of the State Council issued Decree 236 declaring it a national holiday, which took effect on March 5, 1990.
Liberation Day is commemorated with celebrations all around the country, particularly in smaller communities. During the war for independence, most of these small towns were virtually devastated, and it is a somber occasion to remember the tyranny, struggle, and liberation. Flowers and messages are frequently left on Bulgarian Liberation Monuments, and many people also mark the occasion with fireworks.

Canadian Bacon Day – March 3, 2022~Canada
Canadian Bacon Day is celebrated on March 3 every year, and we’re going to show you how to celebrate the day tastefully. Do you know that it has been more than 200 years since Canadian bacon was first created? Canadian bacon is slightly different from its American counterpart.
While American bacon is mainly the fatty belly of the pig, Canadian bacon is cut from the loin of a pig. In Canada, this bacon is also known as Peameal bacon. Canadian Bacon Day is a day dedicated to this delicious food, a favorite breakfast item amongst millions in America, Canada, and some European countries.
HISTORY OF CANADIAN BACON DAY Evidence suggests that pork domestication started in China in 4900 B.C. However, it is said that it is only in 1500 B.C. that the Chinese started salting pork bellies. Centuries later, pork breeding became increasingly common in parts of Europe and Asia.
In Medieval times, bacon was quite popular in countries like England, France, and Germany. In those times, the term bacon was used to refer to anything made of pork or pork in general. In French, it was known as ‘bacun’ and in German, it was called ‘bacho.’
Soon, bacon reached other parts of the world, and countries started developing their variations of it. For example, it was called ‘bekon’ in Japan and used for dishes like ‘yakitori.’ Australia, the United States, and Canada had different variations of bacon as well.
In Canada, pork packers started cutting pieces from the pig’s loin instead of the fatty belly like the Americans. One of them, named William Davies from the William Davies company, started packing pork loins with yellow peas while sending it to his relatives in England.
He believed that keeping yellow peas increased the bacon’s shelf life. It is said that this is how peameal bacon or Canadian bacon originated. Today, Canadian bacon or peameal bacon is a delicacy enjoyed by people worldwide.
Peameal bacon sandwiches have been popular since the 1960s, and it is a big attraction for tourists who visit Canada or the United States. Though it is not known when Canadian Bacon Day was born, millions observe the day to celebrate this tasty and meaty breakfast dish.

Missouri Compromise Day – March 3, 2022~U.S.
Missouri Compromise Day is observed on March 3 each year and was established on this day in 1820 when the Missouri Compromise was approved by Congress. The Missouri Compromise was a law that kept a balance in the Senate between free states and slave states. This new piece of legislation was passed by the 16th United States Congress on March 3, 1820, and signed by President James Monroe on March 6 of the same year. Free states were the ones in which slavery had been abolished and slave states were those where slavery continued to be in practice. The Missouri Compromise, however, only lasted for 34 years. The end of this Compromise came to be as a result of the U.S. Civil War.
HISTORY OF MISSOURI COMPROMISE DAY The Missouri matter was brought into the discussion at the 15th Congress in 1819. The discussion ended in a stalemate, with the House taking an anti-slavery stance and the Senate taking a pro-slavery stance.
In 1820, amid the rising tensions over the issue of slavery, the U.S. Congress passed a law that proclaimed the state of Missouri to the Union as a slave state and Maine as a free state. The law banned slavery from the other Louisiana Purchase lands that were located north of the 36º 30’ parallel.
The Missouri Compromise was the name of this law. This law stayed in force for 34 years before it was repealed by the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854. In 1854, during the formation of Kansas and Nebraska Territories, Senator Stephen Douglas of Illinois proposed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which stated that the settlers of each territory should decide on the issue of slavery for themselves. This was the principle of popular sovereignty. The controversial law effectively repealed the Missouri Compromise by allowing slavery in the region north of the 36º 30’ parallel. This sparked violence between the pro and anti-slavery settlers. The opposition to this Act led to the formation of the Republican Party, and the emergence of Douglas’s rival, a previously unknown lawyer named Abraham Lincoln.
In 1857, the Supreme Court ruled the Missouri Compromise as unconstitutional in the Dred Scott case. These tensions led to the rise of the American Civil War, which people believed would either tear the union apart or lead to the formation of a new one.

33 Flavors Day – March 3, 2022~U.S.
33 Flavors Day is celebrated on March 3 every year. Though the reason for this particular date is not known, many believe that it is when the famous Baskin-Robbins ice cream company was founded. Whether that is true or not, people love to celebrate this day as they try out new flavors that they have not tried before. They can celebrate this day by treating themselves to a well-deserved treat or by taking their friends and along to their nearest ice cream shop. The timing of the holiday, which falls right in the middle of spring, makes it perfect for eating ice cream.
HISTORY OF 33 FLAVORS DAY Ice cream originated in China. From there it was brought to Italy by the famous explorer Marco Polo. He went to China with his father and brother in 1271 on a trading expedition. He was surprised to see frozen food being sold from handcarts on the streets of Peking. It was frozen milk, sometimes flavored with fruit juices. Marco Polo was offered it as a gift. He took it with him to Italy.
From Italy, the idea got across France. In the year 1533, Catherine de Medici of Italy went to France and married the second son of Francis I of France. Catherine took with her a large retinue of cooks. It was they who introduced the new delicacy to the French, who soon discovered how delicious it was. Interestingly, it was again a bride who later brought it to England. This was Henrietta Maria of France, who married Charles I in 1630. The secret of ice cream preparation was brought to England by her cook.
Soon, ice cream spread all over the world, including the U.S. The first wholesale factory for ice cream was in Baltimore. The real development of ice cream, and the ice cream business started flourishing only after 1900 with the development of refrigeration. The basis of all ice cream is milk, cream, sugar, and sometimes even eggs. Vanilla, chocolate, berries, fruit ingredients, and nuts are added as flavors. The ice cream usually contains 20% to 25% cream and milk products, 15% sugar, flavor in small quantities, and a small amount of stabilizer. The stabilizer is used to retain the smoothness of the ice cream by preventing the formation of coarse ice crystals. Pure food gelatin is typically used for this purpose.

National Soup it Forward Day – March 3, 2022~U.S.
National Soup it Forward Day is commemorated every year on March 3 to urge people to spread love and generosity with a bowl of soup. Since 2018, this day has been celebrated around the country. Deliver a therapeutic pot of your tasty chicken noodle or pea soup to a member or friend. Maybe they’ve been sick or have had a rough time recently. In any case, a little of your homemade broth, coupled with your visit, should have them feeling right as rain.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL SOUP IT FORWARD DAY In 2009, Sharon Hampton founded the Soup Sisters. Since then, it has functioned as a non-profit to feed those in homeless shelters, on the streets, and victims of abuse who had abandoned their homes. Soup Sisters took the initiative to register the holiday in the National Day Calendar in 2018, and National Soup it Forward Day was born.
Soups have been around for years. According to recorded history, it is thought to have originated in China’s Xianrendong Cave. Boiling on bark or reeds was a traditional method of removing contaminants from the ingredients. They finally realized the concept of a power mixture with nutrients from meat, vegetables, and other ingredients in one liquid after the construction of waterproof containers in the form of clay jars.
Soups and herbs of ancient medicines go hand in hand for this reason. Soups serve as both food and a supply of liquid, which aids in the maintenance of water balance in the body, resulting in improved metabolism and, as a result, better processing of other foods. Soups are a healthy sort of meal for everyone.
Furthermore, it is relatively simple to cook and requires considerably less time than other foods. Soups freeze well, and eating them regularly keeps people hydrated and satisfied. Because repeated boiling eliminates the majority of the germs in them, they are normally free of any germs or bacteria that could pose complications.
The fundamental idea behind National Soup It Forward Day is to think about others who are less fortunate while cooking at home.

National Anthem Day – March 3, 2022~Other
National Anthem Day on March 3 observes the songs nations around the world have adopted and chosen to represent their national identity. For America, that song is “The Star-Spangled Banner” and has a rich history to match the pomp and circumstance any national anthem should garner for the country it represents. Learn all about the fateful night which inspired our national anthem and find ways to celebrate it today.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL ANTHEM DAY Let’s take a step back in time to the evening of September 13, 1812. Maryland attorney Francis Scott Key found himself aboard a British sea vessel negotiating the release of Dr. William Beans, a prisoner of war accused of misleading the British troops. While Key’s negotiation was successful, the British troops would not allow him to disembark the ship out of fear he may disclose the Brit’s battle plans to American forces.
So, Key and Beans remained on the ship through the night witnessing the intense attack on Fort McHenry. Expecting American troops to have lost the battle, Key was astounded to see the American flag flying over Fort McHenry the next morning. The events of the evening ending in the triumphant flying of the American flag inspired Key to write a poem that ultimately became “The Star-Spangled Banner”, our national anthem.
By the early 1900s, there were several different versions of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” so President Woodrow Wilson asked the Bureau of Education to standardize it making one official version. The Bureau hired five musicians, including John Philip Sousa, to standardize the song which was first performed on December 5, 1917.
Finally, on March 3, 1931, President Herbert Hoover signed a congressional order into law making “The Star-Spangled Banner” America’s national anthem. National Anthem Day falls on March 3 annually commemorating the signing of the law.
Recently, in 2016, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem at football games as a form of protest, which sparked new debates about whether this is an appropriate form of social protest or rather an unpatriotic act.

National Hug a G.I. Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
March 4 is the only day on the calendar that’s also a military command — march forth! — so it’s only appropriate that this be the day that we celebrate the servicemen and servicewomen in our lives with National G.I. Day. Soldiers in the U.S. military — including members of the Army, Air Forces, and Marines — have been referred to as G.I.s since 1940, and today is the day that we celebrate everything they do for us with a big hug, either literal or metaphorical.

World Day of Prayer – March 4, 2022~World
World Day of Prayer is celebrated on the first Friday of March each year to encourage Christian women to engage in personal prayer and lead communal prayer within their mission auxiliaries and associations. Women have a strong sense of identification with the needs of other women and children and are better suited to provide the appropriate support. Since 1861, despite strong resistance from the all-male mission boards, women have established a number of effective boards for foreign and home missions working directly with and for women and children. World Day of Prayer is an initiative of one such board, which aims to make the lives of women and children easier by offering resources and support.
HISTORY OF WORLD DAY OF PRAYER In the 19th century, Christian women of the U.S. and Canada began engaging in cooperative activities to support women’s involvement in missions across the world. In 1887, Presbyterian women called for a day of prayer for home missions which the Methodist women joined from 1892 to 1894 after calling for a week of prayer. The Baptist started a day of prayer for foreign missions in 1891.
Forming a committee in 1897, women from six denominations would eventually start a united day of prayer for home missions. These women took turns in the other participating denominations and organized the common worship service. In 1912, the Woman’s Board of Foreign Missions decided that there should be a united day of prayer for foreign missions that would be observed in different parts of the world.
After the success of the Ecumenical Missionary Conference in New York City in 1900, a group of laywomen organized an interdenominational Central Committee for United Study that prepared publications, summer conferences, study days, and courses so that women could be up-to-date about the lives of women in other parts of the world. These courses also enabled them to study biblical foundations and important issues related to mission work. Women took initiatives to organize interdenominational structures that were effective and cooperative in home and foreign missions. In 1908, the women founded the Council of Women for Home Missions that assumed responsibility for the rehabilitation of immigrants and other social issues, and for the preparation of the joint day of prayer.

Toy Soldier Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Toy Soldier Day is an annual event that occurs on March 4 to celebrate the day that “Toy Soldiers Unite”, originally the fan club of Dr. Steel — a Los Angeles-based music and street performance artist, was formed in 2006. The holiday is intended to unite fans of various role-playing activities as opposed to collecting or displaying plastic toy soldiers. Although Toy Soldier Day is not as famous as holidays like Christmas or Halloween, numerous fans of Dr. Steel celebrate the day every year.
HISTORY OF TOY SOLDIER DAY Every year on March 4, “Toy Soldiers”, the fan club of Doctor Waldolf Steel — a Los Angeles-based music and street performance artist that all have the designation of Nurses & Medics, Scouts, and Engineers, gather the world over to celebrate the day that “Toy Soldiers Unite” was formed. In one of the publications on its website, the organization noted that “although much has changed since “Toy Soldiers Unite” was formed, one thing that remains unchanged is Toy Soldier Day and the commitment of its soldiers to impactful social missions”.
The organization, founded as Dr. Steels fans club, created the holiday to unite fans of various role-playing activities and to collaborate, compare and share ideas. Although faux, the holiday is sometimes believed to be a time to gather up all your miniature figurine soldiers for the fictitious war. The founder and convener of Toy Soldiers Unite, Dr. Steel, started his career as a street performer and musician who became famous during the early days of the web. His performances involve a combination of puppetry and video projections to help his audience better understand the meanings behind his steampunk songs.
His stage persona, fans have noted, is an original portrayal of a mad scientist determined to take over the world and become its Emperor, which was the reason why he needed the “Army of Toy Soldiers” and ultimately why we now observe Toy Soldier Day. Dr. Steel’s “Army of Toy Soldiers” is made up of four regiments: toy soldiers, nurses, toy scouts, and engineers whose mission is to promote Dr. Steel’s philosophy of transhumanism, freedom of thought, and subjective reality. Done through what it calls “invasions”, which is simply doing charity work and toy drives for the less fortunate in uniform.

Old Inauguration Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Old Inauguration Day is an annual event that occurs on March 4 to commemorate the events that ushered in a newly constitution-defined inauguration date for president-elect and newly elected senators. The change to the constitution it celebrates, The “Twentieth Amendment”, moved the beginning and ending of the terms of the president and vice president from March 4 to January 20, and of members of Congress from March 4 to January 3. The passage of the “Twentieth Amendment” in 1933 also included provisions for what should be done when there is no president-elect.
HISTORY OF OLD INAUGURATION DAY Old Inauguration Day commemorates the events that ushered in a newly constitution-defined inauguration date for president-elect and senators in the United States. The holiday is called so to allude to the changed date of inaugural ceremonies before the introduction of the “Twentieth Amendment” to the constitution that moved the date from March 4 to January 20. Historically, there are several reasons for the introduction of the “Twentieth Amendment” to the constitution.
First, it is to allow the president-elect enough time to move into the nation’s capital. But more so, the amendment was made to make sure the incoming Congress, rather than the outgoing one, would hold a contingent election if the Electoral College deadlocked regarding either the presidential or vice-presidential elections. The edit to the constitution moved the beginning and ending of the terms of the president and vice president from March 4 to January 20, and of members of Congress from March 4 to January 3.
Its passage in 1933 also included provisions for what should be done when there is no president-elect. Nicknamed the “Lame Duck Amendment” due to the decline in power an outgoing official has during transition periods, the change the amendment introduced, is one of a handful of times in the past when the inauguration of a new president changed throughout the history of the country. Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s election in 1937 marks the first inauguration ceremony held on January 20 as recently included in the constitution.

National Sons Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Molding our sons into responsible men can either be seen as a perilous journey or an opportunity to grow as a human being. On National Sons Day, every March 4 and September 28, we think about our boys and the legacy we leave behind as parents. More than that, we take the time to listen to our boys — to hear their dreams or fears and thoughts on changing the world. We all have a role to play. Men and women. Educators. Professionals at all levels.
WHEN IS NATIONAL SONS DAY 2022? Sons around the world enjoy the spotlight and are spoiled on March 4. Another National Sons Day is observed annually on September 28.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL SONS DAY National Sons Day has taken on new meaning as we head into the third decade of the 21st century. The #metoo era is long overdue — and society can no longer overlook the importance of raising our boys with this in mind. The good news? A crucial national conversation has begun — finally.
Parents of sons today face challenges that seem so obvious — yet no one saw coming. Who could have predicted the stunning downfall of so many of America’s most famous and powerful men in so little time? The list of names sent shock waves through the world of entertainment, media, tech and politics. And no one knows where we’re headed next.
One thing’s for sure — it all starts with teaching (and modeling) respect.
Here’s lifestyle writer (and dad) Christopher Dale in a recent article for Motherly: “Parents of boys are in a precarious position, one where the rules of inter-gender engagement seem to be in constant flux. As society understandably amplifies the voices of accusers, we find ourselves raising the potentially accused.”
Accused and accusers. That’s a lot for our kids to handle. So how do moms and dads navigate these treacherous waters? There’s no simple answer. We’re in uncharted territory here — and this discussion needs to go on for as long as it takes. Preparing our boys for this will require a level of guidance and communication that our predecessors in parenthood could never have envisioned – and that we ourselves have yet to fully grasp.
Aside from that, men have struggled with a stereotype of showing strength without fear or compassion. Luckily, as society incorporates “emotional” equity in the workplace and at home, we’re all redefining what it means to be a good son — and a good man.
National Sons Day was founded by Jill Nico in 2018. Let’s have meaningful conversations with our boys on this day. It’s time.

National Safety Day – March 4, 2022~India
National Safety Day in India is observed every year on March 4 with the purpose of generating awareness and commitment to working safely. The holiday was initiated by the National Safety Council to increase the awareness of all the guidelines of safety measures, including road safety, workplace safety, the safety of human health, as well as the environment. The holiday is also aimed at renewing the commitment of employees and the general public to work safely throughout the year. Ultimately, the day wants to shine the light on safety protocols and measures that need to be adhered to, to avoid any type of workplace accidents.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL SAFETY DAY The National Safety Day is celebrated every year by the National Safety Council of India to raise awareness and commitment to the safety protocols and measures that need to be followed to avoid workplace mishaps.
The ultimate objective of the holiday is to commit employees and the general public to work safely by adhering to all safety guidelines. The National Safety Council is a non-profit body that has been set up to aid in generating, developing, and sustaining any national level of voluntary gesture of health, safety, and development. These actions of the council have been successful ever since the initiation of the holiday in 1972 — set in less than a decade after its establishment.
According to records, the day was initiated as an afterthought of the first industrial safety conference in India organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment who felt a need for safety councils on national and state levels. They proposed what is now the National Safety Council which then went on to initiate the holiday as a way to drive the adoption of safety measures.
National Safety Day was first observed on the foundation day of the National Safety Council in 1972. The day was set up by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on March 4, 1965, to develop and bring into practice a voluntary routine on safety, health, and environment. The year 2021 marks the 50th observance of National Safety Day.

National Grammar Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
On March 4, we let our inner nerd out for National Grammar Day! The day was established in 2008 by Martha Brockenbrough, the founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar. The day’s motto is: “It’s not only a date, it’s an imperative: March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and help others do the same!” We take that imperative seriously, so this National Grammar Day, we are celebrating the idiosyncrasies of the English language by studying up on common grammar mistakes, proofreading our correspondence, and thanking our editors!

March Forth – March 4, 2022~U.S.
March Forth is an annual unofficial holiday celebrated on March 4 to encourage everyone to work towards achieving their dreams. It aims to provide an opportunity for people to take calculated risks towards achieving their goals and developing themselves. It is a special day to take a stand against procrastination or the faux reasons that tend to creep into our heads and discourage us from even trying. The name was made up as a homophone of the day ‘March Fourth.’ It is also the shortened version of the full name — ‘March Forth and Do Something Day.’
HISTORY OF MARCH FORTH March Forth was born out of the numerous stories of people giving up on their goals due to procrastination and sheer lack of motivation. It encourages support for anyone who may need a little nudge to help kickstart and go full steam on their goals. The holiday is observed for the same reason its name alludes to, marching forth, and it is one of the few unofficial holidays that serve an important purpose of helping to guide our path.
One interesting thing and perhaps an unintended consequence of the date of the holiday is that it comes off the back of some significant holidays celebrated in the months prior to March Forth Day, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is in January, and February’s Black History Month. This is perhaps why some believe the day is an opportune time for Americans to “march forth” towards unity and reflect on the dark history of early human rights struggles to avoid reliving it. To these people, March Forth is a Christian holiday that invites the American populace to begin anew and make an effort to open their hearts and minds to the common goal of unity and the work of racial reconciliation through the love of God.
However, the central purpose of the holiday is for people to make a special effort to improve their lives and “March Forth” toward their dreams and highest aspirations, taking calculated risks, and making the necessary sacrifices.

Benjamin Harrison Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Benjamin Harrison Day is an annual event that occurs on March 4 to commemorate the 23rd President of the United States. Did you know that Benjamin Harrison was the grandson of the ninth president of the United States, William Henry Harrison, and a great-grandson of Benjamin Harrison V, one of the Founding Fathers who signed the United States Declaration of Independence? A longtime protectionist, Harrison is infamous for his signing of the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890 that pushed federal spending to one billion dollars for the first time during peacetime.
HISTORY OF BENJAMIN HARRISON DAY Benjamin Harrison Day is set aside to celebrate the memory of a one-time United States president and congressman whose rise to the presidency started as an unsuccessful race for the governorship position in Indiana. He was then elected by the Indiana General Assembly for a six-year term in the U.S. Senate where he served from 1881 to 1887.
Harrison was elected to the presidency as the Republican presidential candidate in 1888, defeating the Democratic incumbent, Grover Cleveland. Scholars and historians generally regard his administration as corrupt due to the signing of the controversial McKinley Tariff and the subsequent Sherman Antitrust Act that saw him bow to the pressure of agrarians and reformers’ demands to prohibit industrial trusts. Although noted for his expansion of America’s Navy to support its active foreign policy pursuits, and the signing of the Land Revision Act of 1891 to protect national forests across America, he became infamous for losing his re-election campaign due to his signing of the McKinley Tariff Act, a protective tariff bill that angered many Americans who considered it too supportive of the interests of the wealthy.
The hallmarks of his administration, however, are the facilitation of the creation of the national forest reserves through an amendment to the Land Revision Act of 1891, a commendable achievement in light of the present climate crisis, and the admission of six defecting states to the Union.

Holy Experiment Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Holy Experiment Day is an annual holiday celebrated on March 4 to encourage general tolerance toward religious practices different from ours. The importance of the story the holiday commemorates is also the precedence for the core beliefs the establishment of Pennsylvania, and ultimately, the United States was based on: religious tolerance, diversity, and representative government. William Penn Jr, son of English Admiral Sir William Penn, played an important role in the creation of the colony. He envisioned a colony full of people who embraced faith and were tolerant to the religion of others, influenced by his early experience in England where members of the Quakers sect were chastised for their beliefs.
HISTORY OF HOLY EXPERIMENT DAY ‘Holy Experiment’ was the term William Penn chose to describe the ideal government he established within the territory of modern-day Pennsylvania state, granted to him as repayment of the debt owed to his dad by the British monarchy. The importance of the event to America’s history and the hallmark of its existence is what Holy Experiment Day aims to commemorate. After witnessing the brutal intolerance of minority religious sects in Britain and being imprisoned himself, Penn sought to establish a colony of people who embraced faith and were tolerant to the religion of others within his newfound territory in 1681.
The origin of the term came from Penn’s belief that the charter which King Charles II signed to grant him the 29 million acres of land was a gift from God. He believed it was a divine assurance to proceed with his intention to build a safe haven for minority religious groups, saying, “that an example may be set up to the nations: there may be room there, though not here, for such a holy experiment.”
As a member of the Religious Society of Friends more popularly known as Quakers, Penn believed that their knowledge of and communion with God’s divine authority meant their principles, which included religious and political freedom and general pacifism, would be successfully established. Therefore, the new colony saw its very first law guaranteeing freedom and tolerance for all religions who “shall confess and acknowledge one Almighty God to be the Creator, Upholder, and Ruler of the world.” Unfortunately, Penn’s surmission would prove false as political, economic, and even religious conflicts would work against the spiritual foundation of the Experiment after the first few years.
Today, Holy Experiment Day is a day to experiment with different religions, modes of worship, and prayer. People share their faith and beliefs with , friends, and members of their community. In turn, they consider the beliefs of others or try out a new religion for a day. All of this encourages the larger community to be more open-minded and unprejudiced.

Marching Music Day – March 4, 2022~U.S.
Marching Music Day on March 4 celebrates the ‘march’ music genre, which features a strong regular rhythm expressly written for marching to and most frequently performed by military bands. The holiday serves as a day to honor the dedicated musicians and composers of the sounds as well as its performers. It is said to be celebrating all varieties of art forms that bring us “music on the move.” For centuries, the rhythm of the ‘march’ music genre has kept military units moving in unison. From the training field to the battlefield, football stadium, to the Broadway stage, marching music delights performers and spectators alike.
HISTORY OF MARCHING MUSIC DAY The origin of Marching Music Day can be traced to the founding of Drum Corps International (D.C.I.) by 13 founding member organizations that wanted to govern and standardize marching bands competitions throughout North America.
It acts as a governing body for junior drum and bugle corps and is responsible for developing and enforcing rules of the competition and for providing standardized adjudication at sanctioned competitions throughout the United States and Canada. D.C.I. founded Marching Music Day to celebrate marching music as an “engaging and ever-expanding art form around the world.”
The ‘march’ music genre contains powerful rhythms in a regular pattern, this makes the genre suitable for marching. Military bands use this music as it expresses the motion of their march. As mentioned, the holiday is in celebration of the different art forms that bring us “music on the move.” Although the genre of music has strong military roots, its usage has evolved into an art form used to move us during somber memorials and thrill us in times of relief.
For centuries, the rhythm of the ‘march’ music genre has kept military units and different other bands moving in unison as they are performed in auditoriums and grand arenas to spectators’ delight. From small parades to impressive spectacles, fifers, pipers, buglers, drum corps, marching bands, parade groups, drill teams, and color guards bring this genre of music to life and audiences to their feet, blaring an enthusiastic roar.
