National Corvette Day – June 30, 2021
National Corvette Day is celebrated every year, on June 30. It gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate a major accomplishment in their automobile history. It is a great time to learn about how the Corvette became a part of modern American history by pushing the limits of technology and making the American automobile industry a symbol of industrial genius.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL CORVETTE DAY National Corvette Day is celebrated as a remembrance of the origins of the Corvette — the iconic American sports automobile. The model was introduced in 1953 by the General Motors automobile factory in Michigan. The unique design and sturdiness of the Corvette made it widely popular and it soon became a symbol of American industry and national pride.
In 2008, the American House of Representatives announced that June 30 would be commemorated as National Corvette Day. Incidentally, this was the year when GM had completed 100 years of its operations, which made it the right time to dedicate an entire day in the national calendar to celebrate an important milestone.
Another interesting fact is that 2008 was also the year when the American automobile industry, and the entire economy for that matter, was undergoing a huge crisis. It was the biggest crisis since the Great Depression and was being felt quite severely by the automobile industry, including General Motors.
Therefore, by announcing National Corvette Day, the government also intended to reduce some of the gloom and doom that was being spread about the American automobile industry by celebrating one of its most remarkable achievements.
The decision proved to be timely and well-received because since then National Corvette Day has been celebrated regularly across America and the automobile industry has also recovered from the crisis. Today, celebrating National Corvette Day has become a symbol of the American people’s faith in their automobile industry and confidence in its prosperous future.

National OOTD Day – June 30, 2021
On National OOTD Day, celebrated every June 30 showcase the fashionista inside you by sporting one of your best outfits. Not sure what ‘OOTD’ is? Well, it’s a Gen X term that means ‘outfit of the day.’ The short form of the term originated on social media when bloggers and fashion icons would post their outfits on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Since then, the term has taken on a life of its own and has turned into a famous hashtag used to define a trendy outfit. With the OOTD being so important for men and women across the globe, it’s not a surprise a day has been specifically dedicated to it!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL OOTD DAY National OOTD Day was created by Stassi Schroeder, a star on the American reality television show called “Vanderpump Rules.” The special day was created in 2018, based on Stassi’s favorite hashtag #OOTD. However, according to the influencer, the day is about more than simply making a fashion statement — it is about inspiring people to wear clothes that make them feel good about themselves. This is essential since feeling good can boost your confidence and can actually aid in creating a positive aura. According to Stassi, “When you have a great outfit on, your day is that much better, and in my opinion, you should honor that feeling with an OOTD — which is why I created National OOTD Day!”
Stassi also feels that even if everything around you is falling apart, dressing like everything is perfect can actually have an impact on your perception and the way you feel. Most importantly, just because you are having a bad day does not mean you have to show it to the world! The reality TV star is also of the perception that styling yourself is an artistic way of expressing yourself. All you have to do is dedicate a few extra minutes every day to form a spectacular outfit that can make you feel comfortable, yet confident at the same time.
Don’t know how to choose your OOTD? Here are some tips by Stassi that might help! First and foremost, analyze your body and figure out what type of outfit will suit you. Also, pick out parts of your body that you want to highlight with your outfit. For instance, do you have majestic shoulders you want to show off? The next step is to choose the right color, and voila, you are all set to celebrate OOTD Day!

National Parchment Day – June 30, 2021
National Parchment Day is on June 30 this year, so go all out in finding out more about parchment paper and why it is important for cooking. Also known as baking paper, parchments are convenient to use and can do wonders for the taste of a particular dish. To master the method of cooking with parchment paper, you must be aware of all the dos and don’ts of the technique, which requires the cook to wrap food such as chicken, fish, and meat in parchment paper. Add vegetables and seasoning to the mix and seal the paper. Now, get cooking!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL PARCHMENT DAY National Parchment Day was founded in 2016 by PaperChef in order to promote a different food movement, since cooking food in creative ways was all the rage owing to the rise in globalization and travel. PaperChef emphasized the importance of parchment paper because it’s a utensil that not only transforms your cooking experience but also serves the environment. PaperChef was founded in 2010 by Scott Miller and Bill Benson to promote parchment paper for cooking.
The aim of National Parchment Day was to celebrate parchment paper and the numerous benefits it brings to the kitchen. Yes, food cooked in parchment paper is tasty, environmentally friendly, and free of cooking sprays and high-fat oil. No wonder the French have been using it as a part of their culinary preparations for centuries. However, you must keep in mind that cooking with parchment paper has a certain technique to it — and you need to use it properly if you want your food to be delicious.
Parchment paper is used for cooking since it keeps the moisture in, makes the food crispy, and helps preserve the nutrients of every item you cook and consume. It is a tool that is essential for the kitchen! Honestly, knowing all the benefits of parchment paper, you’d be hard-pressed not to rush to the stores and buy this paper.

Social Media Day – June 30, 2021
First, there was the telephone, then the fax machine, and then social media — a revolutionary way of communicating. Since its creation, people have been able to connect with each other like never before. Friends and can connect at any moment, and marketers have been able to reach consumers in an entirely new fashion. In fact, people use social media for an average of 144 minutes every single day. Because of its impact on society over the years, Social Media Day was born on June 30, and it has continued to grow in popularity ever since.
HISTORY OF SOCIAL MEDIA DAY World Social Media Day was launched by Mashable on June 30, 2010. It was born as a way to recognize social media’s impact on global communication and to bring the world together to celebrate it. Everyone uses social media every day; it’s how we connect with people all over the world in a simple and fast way. Mashable is known to use social media to connect various cultures, movements, and fandoms, which is why they wanted a day to celebrate it. People use the hashtag, #SMDay every year, and this year is your time to get involved!
The first social media platform ever to be launched was Sixdegrees in 1997. Founded by Andrew Weinreich, the website allowed users to list friends and members and had features such as profiles, bulletin boards, and school affiliations. At its peak, Sixdegrees had over a million users but it was eventually shut down in 2001.
The first modern social media platform was Friendster in 2002. The website allowed people to safely make new friends and has over a hundred million users, most of whom are in Asia. LinkedIn, the first business-focused social media platform was launched in 2003. MySpace launched in 2004, the same year as Facebook, but initially, it saw much greater success than Mark Zuckerberg’s creation. By 2006 MySpace was the largest social media platform in the world, with users loving the customized profiles that also enabled them to post their music.
YouTube launched its website dedicated to video in 2005 and Twitter followed with its limited characters platform in 2006. As both grew in popularity, so did Facebook, and the most popular social media platforms for the next five years were being established.
Instagram launched in 2010 and saw rapid growth, gaining over a million users within the first couple of months. With Instagram challenging their dominance, Facebook purchased the platform for $1 billion in 2012. Facebook also purchased the encrypted messaging platform WhatsApp for $16 billion in 2014. One platform that Facebook failed to buy was Snapchat. Snapchat, which became popular due to its disappearing stories feature, was launched in 2011 and reportedly turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook in 2013. The most recent addition to the list of social media heavyweights is TikTok. The app was launched in 2016 and has become incredibly popular due to its extensive music and video editing features.
As social media has evolved and grown in popularity, so has the scrutiny that the platforms come under. With controversies surrounding their use of data, hate speech, impact on mental health, election results, and fake news, the platforms are under more pressure than ever to be transparent with what goes on behind the scenes. Social media has become a way to instantly connect, often with friends and , but also with complete strangers. It has become a huge source of news, shopping, and general entertainment. Social media day is for us to enjoy the positives that these platforms have brought into our lives, and maybe like or share a photo or two.

American Zoo Day – July 1, 2021
American Zoo Day, celebrated on July 1, is all about bringing the importance of zoos to the forefront. While zoos originally were small confined spaces that were more or less a prison for animals, things changed over time as people became educated regarding animal rights. Today, zoos in America are huge and provide an environment that reflects the natural habitat of the confined animal. This is why modern zoos perform a role of a sanctuary rather than a place where animals are put on display. To honor and celebrate American Zoo Day, we suggest you head out to the nearest zoo and be prepared to see beautiful animal species you may never have seen before.
HISTORY OF AMERICAN ZOO DAY American Zoo Day is celebrated every year on July 1 to mark the day the Philadelphia Zoo was opened up to the public in 1874. What’s so special about this zoo, you ask? Well, it was America’s first zoo. The charter of the zoo was signed in 1859, but due to the Civil War, the zoo was not opened to the public until much later. The Philadelphia Zoo is also important since it focuses on the conservation of numerous animal species. Today, the zoo houses over 1,300 animals.
Though zoos existed in numerous regions across the world since ancient Egypt, it wasn’t until the 19th century that the trend of opening zoos took over the world. Unfortunately, initially, these enclosures were formed for the purpose of entertainment and cared less about the comfort and life spans of animals. However, after World War II, zoos also became breeding places where animals close to extinction were brought in. Believe it or not, zoos have played a huge role in saving numerous threatened species from being wiped off the face of this planet. For instance, there were only 50 Hawaiian geese left in Hawaii in 1947. Two of these geese were housed in a sanctuary in England where they began to breed.
Most importantly, zoos and the exotic animals within their walls are often studied by scientists who want to understand their behavior and formulate ways in which better living conditions can be created for mammals. Many of these studies have been published in the ‘Journal of Zoology’ since 1830.

Dog House Repair Month – July 1, 2021
Every Dog House Repair Month in July, make it a point to upgrade the dog house built for your four-legged friend! If you don’t have the funds to buy a new dog house, you can even construct one from scratch, or simply add more features to the existing dog house. Yes, this is super important since the summertime can be tough on outdoor dogs, and they need to have a place that can provide them with shade and water. So put your thinking caps on and come up with creative ideas to improve your dog house design. Trust us, your dog will forever be grateful to you!
HISTORY OF DOG HOUSE REPAIR MONTH During 12,000 B.C., the Chinese domesticated dogs and used them for several purposes. Dogs were used as a food source, exemplary hunting allies, and even as a sacrifice to the gods. While these traditions still exist in some parts of the world, other nations place great focus on giving dogs the status they deserve as man’s best friend. And since we love dogs so much, it is all but natural to ponder upon how we can make their lives more comfortable.
This is why Dog House Repair Month was formed in the year 2000. The founder of the day is Heidi Richards Mooney, a social media consultant and publisher of “WE Magazine for Women.” The formation of the month, however, has an intriguing story of its own. Formed to market Heidi’s retail florist shop, the idea behind the initiative was to push people into doing something special for their furry friends. Over the years, it evolved into something much bigger — it addressed the need for building and repairing dog houses. This is essential, especially in July, since the weather is super hot and can cause heatstroke in dogs if they are not provided proper care.
But where did this idea of creating a house for dogs come from? The first building that was made for a dog was a tombstone that dates back to 2589–2566 B.C. in Egypt. According to historic sources, Egyptians also created dog houses in the form of mud huts to provide shade to hunting dogs. From thereon, the typical dog house evolved. Today, dog houses have fans, food bowls, water bowls, and other additions that are formulated to provide dogs with a comfy life.

Canada Day – July 1, 2021
All those who celebrate Canada as their home and native land celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. The day commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution Act, which consolidated three territories into the single nation of Canada, way back in 1867. That’s right — Canada celebrated its 150th birthday in 2017!
HISTORY OF CANADA DAY Until 1982, Canada celebrated Dominion Day as their national holiday. The day was then renamed ‘Canada Day.’ The history of Canada isn’t splattered with a ton of wars and bloodshed, unlike many other countries. Throughout the mid-1800s, the possibility of unification between the British North American colonies was discussed. On July 1, 1867, the British Parliament brought the British North America Act into effect, leading to the creation of independent Canada. The territories within the dominion consisted of Upper and Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Through this act, Canada was divided into Quebec and Ontario, allowing provisions for neighboring colonies to join in the future. This is how present-day Canada came into formation. The British North America Act served as the constitution for Canada until 1982.
Dominion Day was established in 1879 but wasn’t celebrated by many Canadians, as they still identified themselves as British citizens. This changed on the 50th anniversary of the confederation in 1917, when Dominion Day started becoming more popular. A bill was forwarded in 1946 to rename Dominion Day, but the passing of the bill was stalled due to disagreement in the House of Commons over what the new name should be.
In 1967, on the 100th anniversary of the nation’s creation, there was an increasing interest in Canadian patriotism, and celebrations really took off. Even before it became official, citizens would refer to the holiday as Canada Day, and the name was finally adopted in 1982.

International Chicken Wing Day – July 1, 2021
International Chicken Wing Day is celebrated each year on July 1. This day recognizes every type of chicken wing, whether it is buffalo wings or different sauce varieties such as barbeque, ranch, garlic, or parmesan — the list is endless. It strives to give importance to chicken wings of all shapes, sizes, flavors, types. What’s most important is that you have a bucket of chicken wings ready to be indulged in on this day.
HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL CHICKEN WING DAY Believe it or not, Americans have been celebrating a day dedicated to Chicken Wings for over four decades! The former mayor of Buffalo, Stan Makowski, officially declared International Chicken Wing Day back in 1977.
Many refer to chicken wings as ‘Buffalo wings’ as Buffalo was the city of the original invention of this lip-smacking dish. The actual birthplace of these Buffalo wings was Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. The son of the bar’s founder, Teressa Bellissimo, wanted to treat his friends to a late-night fried dish. He air-fried the wings reserved for soup stock and mixed them with a yummy sauce — and this led to the creation of the modern-day Buffalo wings. However, on International Chicken Wing Day, the limelight is on all kinds of wings.
Chicken wings are perfect when they are crispy on the outside with the meat inside cooked all the way through while retaining its juices. The most important element is the sauce, with hot sauce bringing out that heat and sweet sauces being full of flavor. They are even served with celery, carrots, or other crunchy veggies to provide a balanced taste palate.
Chicken wings have gained exponential popularity with chicken wing festivals mushrooming almost everywhere. The National Buffalo Wing Festival remains the most famous event. Several years after the inception of these chicken wings, McDonald’s, followed by KFC and Domino’s Pizza, introduced their own hot wings.
Now Chicken Wings are not just eaten in the U.S. but in all parts of the world such as Canada, India, Mexico, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and many more. Who wouldn’t want an entire day dedicated to this dish that makes us salivate as soon we hear the name!

Keti Koti – July 1, 2021
Keti Koti is a celebratory festival commemorating the emancipation of slaves on July 1 of every year in the Netherlands. Keti Koti, translated to ‘Broken Chains,’ was marked as the day when slavery was abolished in the country back in 1863. It is a day when liberty, equality, and solidarity are nationally honored by parading out on the streets with music, dance, and food.
HISTORY OF KETI KOTI Keti Koti means to ‘break the chains’ — a symbol that depicts freedom from slavery. Although July 1, 1863, was the day when slavery was formally abolished in Suriname and the kingdom of the Netherlands (and its colonies), it took another 10 years to completely weed out the remains of servitude.
In the Dutch colonies, July 1 is remembered with the term ‘the abolition,’ stemming from a misguided pride of the government that instituted slavery, maintained it for centuries, and intentionally ‘abolished’ or brought disruption to it in 1863.
The event of July 1, 1863, was not recognized in the Netherlands until 1963 — 100 years later. After 1963, the city of Amsterdam began to organize performances and parades and highlighted them in the national newspaper. However, that wasn’t enough — the Dutch government was yet to apologize for centuries of injustice.
By the 1990s, in Rotterdam, the Afro-Dutch community began to voice their criticism, demanding that July 1 be included in the history books, made into a memorial or national holiday, and, importantly, that they receive an apology from the Dutch government. Their efforts paid off and July 1 was proclaimed a national memorial holiday in the Netherlands, characterized by the Keti Koti festival.

National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day – July 1, 2021
National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day is celebrated every year on July 1. Isn’t it fitting to celebrate ice cream and its flavors at the start of summer? There’s a famous jingle, “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”, that comes to mind when anyone thinks of this popular dessert. On this day, forget the conventional flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, and take your taste buds on an adventure by celebrating National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day!
HISTORY OF NATIONAL CREATIVE ICE CREAM FLAVORS DAY When we hear ice cream, we hear fun! Whether you’re a kid or an adult, everyone loves ice cream. Over the years, there have been a host of ice cream flavors invented, some really delicious and some rather weird. The United States has the largest worldwide consumption of ice cream with an average person consuming 48 pints of ice cream annually, and California is the largest producer of ice cream in the United States. National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day is celebrated on the first day of National Ice Cream Month, which was declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.
Surely many people think they have tried every commercially available flavor. However, they might be mistaken! There are so many ice cream flavors that it’s almost impossible to keep track of them. Some delicious creative flavors that have been invented are , coconut, caramel, butter pecan, and so forth. Then there are some absolutely crazy flavors out there like crocodile egg, octopus, caramelized brown bread, shrimp, bacon, pizza, and garlic ice cream.
Ice cream comes in several varieties such as ordinary ice cream, frozen custard, frozen yogurt, gelato, etc. There’s even fried ice cream, which is flash-fried to create a crunchy coating while keeping the core cold. Before the 10th century though, ice cream was made out of ice and not milk. While we now see a universal love for ice cream, it was originally only reserved for the elite.
You can celebrate National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day by getting creative and making your own flavor or simply tasting a flavor you swore you never would.

National Gingersnap Day – July 1, 2021
National Gingersnap Day is celebrated on July 1 every year. The day is celebrated by enjoying this delicious sweet and savory treat. Gingersnaps are cookies made with brown sugar, and an assortment of spices like cloves, ginger, and cinnamon. They are the perfect accompaniment to a lightly brewed cup of tea. Gingersnaps are a healthier alternative to cookies since they are lower in calories. There are also the additional benefits of ginger, cinnamon, and clove whose anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties keep heart diseases at bay. Cinnamon helps to lower the amount of glucose in the bloodstream, ginger aids in digestion, and cloves prevent oral diseases and headaches.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL GINGERSNAP DAY Gingersnaps are known as cookies in some regions, and as biscuits in others. However, in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom gingersnaps are known as ‘ginger nuts.’ The recipe has mostly remained the same in all these places. Gingersnaps enjoy great popularity in the United Kingdom especially. Since the cookies are usually dry and hard to bite, the English prefer dunking them in a hot cup of tea before taking a bite. New Zealanders also prefer having their beloved ginger biscuits with a cup of tea or other hot drinks. The cookies are known as ‘gingersnaps’ mostly in the United States. While most recipes use molasses and brown sugar as sweeteners, some like to add maple syrup to the mix. Garnishing with seeds and nuts makes these cookies even more delectable.
Ginger has been around for a long time now. It is believed that it originated in Maritime Southeast Asia and was likely used first by the Austronesian population. Once they realized that ginger elevates the taste of food, they began to export it throughout the Indo-Pacific borders during the Austronesian expansion, reaching as far as Hawaii. This took place some 5,000 years ago! Ginger is one of the first spices to have been exported from Asia that arrived in Europe with the spice trade. It was widely used by ancient Greeks and Romans. In 2018, the world production of ginger was 2.8 million tons. India was the leading ginger producer, making 32% of the global total.

National Postal Workers Day – July 1, 2021
National Postal Workers Day is observed each year on July 1. It celebrates and recognizes postal workers and the hard work they put in to ensure your mail and deliveries get to you smoothly and on time. Did you know that in the United States, postal workers walk an average of four to eight miles a day, delivering letters and packages to our doorsteps?
HISTORY OF NATIONAL POSTAL WORKERS DAY There are approximately 490,000 postal workers in the U.S. alone who diligently work to deliver mail. The Postal Service Act gave birth to the Post Office Department, which later became a cabinet-level department and was then transformed by the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 into the United States Postal Service (USPS) as an independent agency. The USPS is authorized by the United States Constitution.
While the world may have embraced the advent of technology, postal services are still important for communication, especially in rural villages and small towns. The USPS is nothing without its postal workers who work hard to maintain the reputation and integrity of the institution they serve. Thus, National Postal Workers Day was established by the Seattle-area postal carriers to honor their fellow employees. These include but are not limited to service clerks who sell stamps and help people to pick up packages, mail sorters who physically sort mail to ensure they go to the correct addresses, the mail carriers who deliver the mail, and a vehicle operator who drives the vehicle carrying the mail.
This day also encourages people across the world to take a moment and appreciate their postal workers and express gratitude towards them. Sometimes, even in harsh conditions like extreme heat or cold, blizzards, rains, etc., they continue to ensure interrupted services. They are nothing short of everyday heroes and deserve our acknowledgment.

ZIP Code Day – July 1, 2021
ZIP Code Day is celebrated annually on July 1. The Post Office Department announced the ZIP code in the late 1960s. They rolled out a publicity campaign that featured Mr. Zip, encouraging people to use the new codes. Another element of the campaign included mailing more than 72,000,000 postcards to let people know about their new ZIP code.
HISTORY OF ZIP CODE DAY At this point in our lives, a ZIP code may seem like a normal thing to have, but there was a time when it did not exist. It was London and Liverpool in England that were the first cities to be divided into designated ZIP code sectors. However, by the end of World War I, this system began making its way all across the world. In different countries, it might be known by different names, though, such as postal code or pin code. Some counties do not use a postal code at all, however, such as the Bahamas, Botswana, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Mauritius, Yemen, to name a few.
The ZIP code or the zone improvement plan system only came to the United States in the early 1960s. The idea behind introducing it was to help in speedy mail travel. It was observed that mail was moving more efficiently when there were ZIP codes added to the final address. The usage of a ZIP code has now gone beyond its initial purpose and includes collecting geographical statistics, credit card authorization, internet routing, identification of legislative districts, insurance-related works, and more. The term ‘ZIP code’ was first registered by the United States Postal Service. Since 1967, the post office has made it mandatory to use ZIP codes for bunk mailers.
ZIP codes are even popular in pop culture. The most famous ZIP code is 90210 in Beverly Hills, owing to the ’90s TV show of the same name.

Joke Day – July 1, 2021
Do you think you’re funny? The best way to get a feel for a country is to try to understand the humor. Laughter is a universally recognized expression of amusement, and joke-telling can become a professional gig for those that truly have a humorous touch.
Joke Day is the perfect day to let out all of the guffaw producing, or groan-inducing jokes you’ve collected over the years, sharing them with friends or any passerby you can get to listen to you.
Learn about Joke Day Joke Day is not just a day for you to prove to everyone how funny you are. It is the perfect day for you to share laughs and to put a smile on people’s faces, including your own. Whether you prefer to share jokes or you like to listen to them, this is a day that is all about smiling, laughing, and having fun, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of a day like this?
They say that laughter is the best medicine, and a lot of people would agree with this! After all, there are actually a lot of health benefits that are associated with laughing. Laughter draws people together in a manner that triggers healthy emotional and physical changes in the body.
Laughter can help to protect you from the damaging impact of stress, diminish pain, boost mood, and strengthen your immune system. Nothing workers more dependably or quicker to bring your body and mind back into balance than a good old laugh.
Humor keeps you alert, focused, and grounded, as well as connecting you to others, inspiring hope, and lightening your burden. It also helps you to forgive sooner and release anger too.
You may have also heard that laughter is a good way to burn calories, and this is true too! Of course, this does not mean that you should replace going to the gym with laying on the sofa and watching your favorite comedian.
However, one study concluded that you can brun around 40 calories if you laugh for between 10 and 15 minutes each day. Over the year, this could be enough to lose around four pounds!
History of Joke Day Joke Day seems to have officially begun in the United States but whatever the origins of Joke Day, it is clear that jokes themselves pre-date by hundreds and hundreds of years. The first joke is often attributed to the Greeks, specifically Palamedes, who is also credited with the invention of many other things. An example of an ancient Greek joke-telling reads thus:
“A barber, a bald man and an absent-minded professor take a journey together. They have to camp overnight, and so decide to take turns watching the luggage. When it’s the barber’s turn, he gets bored, so amuses himself by shaving the head of the professor. When the professor is woken up for his shift, he feels his head, and says “How stupid is that barber? He’s woken up the bald man instead of me.”
Greece also boasts the first comedy club, though its purpose was sharing jokes among friends rather than stand up performances as we have now. Jokes have likely been told since man first looked at himself in a pool of water and passed judgment on his own complexion, so it’s a safe bet that people have been celebrating jokes for a long time.

International Reggae Day – July 1, 2021
Even those people who know very little else about Reggae, its music, and its influences, will know the name Bob Marley. He’s the 1980’s Reggae musician who brought his amazing works to the world and shared the idea that three little birds will tell a person that “every little thing is gonna be alright!”
Bob Marley had such a distinctive sound that it reached out and touched almost every corner of the world in his day. Of course, he wasn’t the only Reggae artist by a long shot. But certainly, he became one of the most popular and well-known in this musical style that has deep spiritual roots and an august history in Ska and rocksteady music.
International Reggae Day celebrates this Jamaican style of music and brings it to those unfortunate people in the world who may have yet to experience it.
This is a time to listen up and get into the groove of freedom that Reggae is all about!
History of International Reggae Day International Reggae Day is an annual event held in Kingston, Jamaica, and is dedicated to celebrating this style of music that entered into the world in a sleepy little island country in the Caribbean. It took some time, but Reggae eventually exploded to touch every corner of the world with its unusual and attractive, relaxed style.
Originally born out of Ska and rocksteady genres of music in the 1960s, Reggae quickly gained distinction with its unpolished sound and strong dependence on rhythm. It took a few years as a grassroots movement before it began expanding far beyond its little originating island. It became particularly popular in English-speaking nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Reggae has often been considered a style of music that is perceived as the voice of the oppressed people, particularly as a rejection of the “white-man culture”. Some of the specific guitar effects (called “skengay”) that developed out of Ska music are meant to sound like ricocheting guns, in a nod to the sounds of the ghetto streets in Kingston.
Reggae became a powerful style of music with deep roots by the time Bob Marley joined the scene, and its influence has never really stopped growing in the more than half-century since. The style of reggae has definitely made its mark and spread wide, with tons of different styles and variations popping up.
One of these variations includes a type of poetry called Dub Poetry, which is West Indian Poetry that is then synced up with amazing reggae beats to create a musical poetry style all its own.
International Reggae Day is celebrated in Kingston, Jamaica, with thousands of fans and musicians coming from all over the world gathering there to celebrate the amazing history of reggae history.
Get ready to celebrate Reggae Day!

History of Second Half of the Year Day The Second Half of the Year Day is traditionally celebrated on the same date annually, and has been for some time. The day has seen important milestones such as Sony introducing the Walkman and Zip codes being used for mail. Where would the US be if it couldn’t receive leaflets and brochures, the OG spam?!
Of course, a leap year will always force its way into the Gregorian calendar like a wrench in between plumbing! Celebrating this event means that your math skills must be strong. How are everyone’s four-times tables?

Day of Arafah – July 18, 2021
The Day of Arafah (or Arafat) is the ninth day of the Islamic lunar month — July 18 this year. It’s on the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, Dhul- Hijjah and is also on the second day of Hajj. Muslims view this as the best day of the year. The day is the culminating event for Muslims on pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia who gather at the mountain plain of Arafah to pray, and supplicate for forgiveness. Pilgrimage is the fifth pillar of Islam, so the Day of Arafah holds much weight for Muslims. The Day of Arafah is known as the day where if sought after, millions of Muslims’ sins are forgiven by Allah. Arafah is known as the day Allah perfected the religion of Islam. It is also momentous because it was the day an important verse of the Qur’an, Surah al Maa’idah 5:3, was revealed. In the UAE, the Day of Arafah is celebrated as a public holiday.
WHEN IS DAY OF ARAFAH 2021? The Day of Arafah, signifying the time when the religion of Islam was perfected and approved as a way of life for all Muslims, is on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah on the Islamic calendar — which is July 18 this year on the Gregorian calendar.
HISTORY OF DAY OF ARAFAH The Day of Arafah is known as a very sacred and virtuous day for Muslims. It is the day the Prophet Muhammad gave his farewell sermon upon Mount Arafah to the many Muslims with whom he completed Hajj, near the end of his life. While the Prophet Muhammad stood on the plain of Arafah, verse 5:3 of the Qur’an was revealed to him.
Another name for the Day of Arafah is ‘Freedom from Fire.’ The meaning of Arafah is ‘to know.’ In Islam, it is believed that when removed from heaven and separated, Adam and Eve (known as Hawa) were placed on Earth and both met up on the plains of Arafah. It is said that the Prophet Muhammad reinforced the importance of standing on Arafah as an essential part of performing Hajj.
Though fasting for those not on pilgrimage is desirable, most Muslims fast on this day as it is a day known to discard sins. The day commemorates finality of the religion of Islam, and of Divine revelation.
Islam teaches Muslims to view the Day of Arafah as a day of gratitude, hence the celebration of Eid the day after. It’s also a day of immense forgiveness with opportunity for great reward. Pilgrims doing Hajj, are not required to fast on this day. This follows the Sunnah of the Prophet, as he himself did not fast during this day because he was performing pilgrimage.
Today, it is possible to find up to 1.5 million Muslims headed toward the desert plains of Mecca to pray and supplicate to God. They can spend hours on the mountain, repenting and praying just as the Prophet Muhammad did. The entire day is usually spent in supplication, devotion and worship, prayer.

National Caviar Day – July 18, 2021
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of caviar? “Oh, what a delicacy!” or “Ew! Fish eggs.” Whether you’re a fan or foe, National Caviar Day is celebrated nationwide on July 18 every year. Technically, real caviar isn’t just any fish eggs. It comes from the the female sturgeon fish. And it’s been a high-end dining staple ever since Cesar Ritz (fancy hotelier) put it on his menus.
