Ohgosh.
Jewel Match gives me castles and inspiration for my stories. I look at them and figure, okay, this one will be where they encounter the griffins, and those two will be perfect for the Kingdom of Stormhaven, and that one will be Duke William's summer home, and that one will be the Westmore family's manor house (minus the modern young couple embracing in the garden, and delete the electric lamps, since the story takes place nearly 1000 years ago), and this one has a really cool balcony where King Randall can relax and play a lovely song on his flute, unaware that the lady with whom he will fall in love with and marry is listening, in fascination (since she had no idea that he was musically talented)...
Fishdom gives me tanks I can decorate like alien planets or a vista of forested mountains, and delightful little seahorses that will dance for me when they're in the mood. And I can give them their own Austin the Butler as a decoration in the tank (everyone needs a butler, even underwater, right?).
Laruaville gives me snarky ghosts and trying to figure out what order to solve everything in. It's good brain exercise, and not as creepy as Spellarium.

My all time favorite 4 elements. Unfortunately no more have been made for years and there are similar but nothing beats 4 elements. I just wish there was more

I chose Fishdom, because I have always loved this series. Playing underwater, building things, and getting new fishies as well... what's not to like?

urusshaitan, just a reminder that this particular Poll Board allows you to create as many polls as you want on the same thread. Polls can be created on any thread but you can only have 1 poll per thread normally, so we had a plugin created especially for us by an amazing coder/friend that allows multiple polls per same thread. I mention this because you could narrow things down by seeing which features people like (or dislike) on a follow-up poll or maybe ask which modes they prefer like Timed-Limited moves etc. the possibilities are endless!

urusshaitan , I buy laruaville because they are good games with intriguing game play..and an element of cuteness...but you put up the names of the ones that leave the 'feel good' memories and fond experiences as well I think. One thing is with Fishdom we get to do our own design with the fish tanks..It becomes personal as its not pre set where things go. And as for 4 elements...its mesmerising to the eyes, challenging gameplay...and oh those graphics!! Just my take on why they win. I hope others put up why they chose those two over the others as well and that it helps your projects as you try to figure us out !

A fellow Cradle of Rome fan! I didn't even mind Cradle of Persia (it was a chain type M3) but the first and Egypt were the best. Cave Quest is gr8 and I had forgotten about that one :( As for "failure" we gamers are a glutton for punishment...or we have a ton of endurance to go the distance while being told we're doing it wrong lol

Cave Quest 2 is an awesome game but too luck-based in a lot of instances. But I played it nonstop for months trying to push my mastery stat to 100% and finally gave up on it. urusshaitan, I'm biased and voted for Jewel Match because one of the game's designers is a very good friend. As for what makes M3 fans tick, that all depends on the player and we're all different. But the thing which makes a game stand out for me is not being afraid to do something different, which is why I also love the Laruaville series (also Spellarium, Cursed House). Other games which I enjoy which you didn't list are the old Jewel Quest series (before Sapphire Dragon), the Cradle of Rome games, Cradle of Egypt, Ancient Quest of Saqqarah, the Claws & Feathers series, DragonScales series, 10th Corpse, and the first Big Kahuna Reef (which is now very dated looking, but was awesome for its time). In all of these games, there's something creative about them, and the developers weren't afraid to make the game the way they wanted. In the end, you're not going to make everyone in the fanbase happy no matter what you do, but don't be afraid to try something new with a game mechanic or add in some other elements which aren't in a zillion other games. Personally, I like my M3s hard as that gives a game way more replay value but know that's not everyone. The reason why I couldn't get into Match 3 Pirates was I couldn't figure out some of the mechanics with the seagulls (?) or something else, which would have benefited from a better "help" section put into the game, plus I thought the color scheme used was rather dreary and drab looking, so didn't have a "wow" factor. Best of luck to you in your future projects. :)

Wonderful, you remember two games which was the very fist for me - Ancient Quest of Saqqarah (a masterpiece, for sure) and Big Kahuna Reef - challenging one!
