HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY
A new thread to hopefully get us to stay in touch. So let's see how we go. As there are other threads to chatter on...I am hoping to keep this one really easy to scroll through and see what we have all had happening. Ready for the rules? ** At the end of each day you pick ONE thing that was the highlight of your day (only ONE)** Keep all replies contained to the ' comment' box for each post. Please do not reply with a whole new post. (remember we want a quick scroll read and in context) And that's it....it can be anything...my eggs all had double yolks, the grandy's visited, I fell down the stairs, I found my keys, I made it to the mailbox... absolutely anything. (And remember you can bookmark a thread by ticking it and on the 'actions' tab for an easy find each day.) here is an example: (I will talk to myself.. ) Saturday: Today's BFG game was a TM!! ...(That's all I need to put.) Remember just reply in the comments to everyone happenings...and that way at the end of the day...with a quick read and scroll..we know how all our day's have been. We rarely shout out when we are sick, or having a duh moment, etc... this way is easy

We've a beautiful tree planted. I cannot stop looking at it. (Well, it was planted yesterday - but it is still the highlight of my day today)

Funny Things Grandkids Say
My youngest son Jake has been clearing out a section on the back end of his property that was overgrown with wild honeysuckle, poison ivy, and random weeds & vines. It's a fairly large section and he wants to add some nice landscape and extend the yard for the kids and the dog.
My middle son Josh helped Jake get all the brush wacked down and spent a couple of days hauling the vines & limbs to a nearby nursery that has a dump for yard debris so last night we decided to make a firepit and burn all the smaller debris that was leftover.
We made smores and the grandkids were enjoying throwing little sticks on the fire. Since all the grandkids were so young we gave them a long speech about how they had to be careful around the fire so they wouldn't get burned... but one never knows if they are really listening or comprehending what we are trying to explain, especially when smores are involved!
Everyone was having a great time...until it started raining. My granddaughter Scarlett, who just turned 4, ran over to me almost in a panic and said "Nana, we have to put the fire out before the Rain gets burned!"

Haven't been anywhere different due to Covid everywhere but DS asked if i wanted to go to the markets so I jumped at the chance to get some fresh produce, online just don't supply the 'good' stuff...loaded up. Never thought there would come a day when I was excited to be buying vegetables and fruits...lol... Got a bunch of pretty flowers too which topped off the day...won't mention the fresh cream buns, delish by the way with an afternoon cuppa.

I got my feral kitties back today. Rounded them up on Friday with the help of a local cat group in a trap that looked like this.. Except it was about 3'x3' and made out of wire mesh. It was all very Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner but no anvils or safes were involved. It worked except with one especially slippery feline who hit the corner of the cage, popped the hook holding it together and squirmed through running like hell. I think he's in the next county by now. No, he came back but every time he sees me, even through the storm door, he runs in terror. As much as I hate to admit it, it was kinda fun and entirely in their best interests.
Rounded up five who are now all immunized, neutered, de-flea-ed, dewormed and any medical problems treated. They're currently on my porch, still in individual cages with food and water covered in large towels, protesting their incarceration. Yowl a little, take a nap, eat, yowl, take a nap, etc. I can't release them back into the wild of my back yard to live a healthier but still feral live until tomorrow afternoon.
I still have to catch the escapee (good luck with that) and I saw a new big black male yesterday who will need to go, too.

Monday:.. .Frozen veg was back in the supermarket! It's been a few weeks. It may sound minor..but we recently had major floods in Australia and all our transport could not get through even though I am not in an affected area. The freezers were bare. Plus when they did start getting through they took them to the affected areas first as their WHOLE supermarkets were TOTALLY empty from the flood waters damaging ALL their stock. No joke..a month later many areas are still using boats like Venice to get around...it just has not stopped raining. They have no homes...thousands :'( Grateful it was only a few things in my part of the country...and I got to eat the whole time and had power.

We had cake and ice cream for my husband's birthday last evening. The grand-babies went home tired and full of sugar. Wanting to watch one episode of his favorite show before bed, my grandson informed his parents he would be packing and moving to Grammy's house if he couldn't stay up later. Told my daughter I would have his room ready.

Spent the weekend with my family (getting to see a lot more of them now that Covid is waning) Sunday was the highlight slogging our way thru the zoo to celebrate granddaughter 2nd birthday. When she wants something and her parents say no she picks up my hand and tries to steer me to what she wants. OF COURSE I say no too

Tuesday... Lovely peace and quiet Although I live in a rural town...they are building a McMansion next door to me, and even though I live across the road from parkland, it has been taken over by hundreds of cockatoos driven south with the floods. They do not have 'lovely birdsong'..they schreech!
Today the builders had a day off...and the cocky's didn't come back till the evening. It was so peaceful

I went to the local nursery to buy new flowers for my new house yesterday! I bought a white lily gardenia, a couple of purple Azaleas a coral bark maple and a lacy maple and my son ripped out all the old bushes from the front of the house that were overgrown and kind of ugly.
The trip was fun, 2 grandkids, 2 sons 1 DIL, and DH tagged along and Scarlett discovered there was room at the front of the knee scooter to get a free ride and I taught little 1.5 year old Collin to say BEEP BEEP BEEP every time I have to back the scooter up and it was hilarious!

An unexpected yet welcome highlight yesterday: A recent windstorm tore loose a single piece of siding from my house. No trouble to fix since it simply snaps back into place....except it was 20-25 feet up. Dont like to climb that high, but steeled myself to the prospect, but was stymied 'cause I am just not strong enough any more to lift the heavy ladder into place to do it. So, decided to ask a young, strong neighbor who I barely know if he would put the ladder up for me. Only to have him then climb up himself and knock the slat back into place and make sure an adjacent slat was well secured too. I was really grateful for his brave efforts, since I really was not keen on going that high myself. Thank heavens for good helpful neighbors!
