I'm not a fan of WASD gaming either but I thought it was a good idea to have different types of Group Play Games so we can get used to the mechanics.
Here are some videos on how to use WASD

lurkercat I didn't have the constable or Gromit with me when I did the bees in town. Now I'm trying to remember if there was something I needed to do with the constable before I took care of the bees. {Spoiler} And the awning didn't close until I got the sequence with the bees right.
Have you tried restarting the game? Someone else here had to do that and it apparently reset the problem.

Whew, smitty189, had NO hotspots at all on the awning and all my attempts to manipulate it failed. Finally found if I moved Gromit to the exact right spot a very subtle "Pull" option came up...and even that took me forever to find. Once I found it though, everything worked like a champ. THANKS!!! I was ready to throw in the towel till then. They certainly went out of their way to hide that hotspot. BTW, along the way in my fruitless searches, I clicked on the window where Mr. & Mrs. Gabberly were canoodling. The Mr.'s name is Chuck! :-)

I didn't have to pull anything on the awning. It's almost like we're talking about different games here. Where did you buy your games? lurkercat , I got mine at GOG.
ETA: I just looked at a walkthrough on Steam for the first episode and compared it to the one at Gameboomers. There are differences:
Steam: {Spoiler} March Gromit right on over to the stubborn Mrs. Gabberfly and show her the answering machine, which plays an apology from Mr. Gabberfly. Once she abandons her shop, set the auto-flipper in the metal strut that keeps the awning aloft. The metal door should also be closed. Then head over to Paneer's shop. At the left side of Paneer's shop is a loose pipe. Shake it, and the bees will flee, seeking shelter in the awning of the Gabberfly shop. The auto-flipper will knock the awning down, effectively trapping the bees inside. The officer will guide Paneer from his shop to the station, giving no credit whatsoever to the deputized pongo.
Gameboomers: {Spoiler} Newsstand: Use answering machine with Edwina-Winnie. She thinks that her husband left her that message. Aww... Use frying pan with the newspaper at right of stand. Cheese Store: Go to Mr. Paneer's Cheese Shop. Shake the downspout left of the store. The bees get wet and fly to the newsstand. Watch them get rolled up.
Nothing about the autoflipper in the Gameboomer walkthrough. And I was playing as Gromit in this sequence. Just forgot who I was.

Holy Cow, Episode 2, after the initial part, is like the multi-part fetch quest from hell. I keep inching closer to the goal, I know what I need, only to have another twist in this convoluted plot thrown in my path. I think the only remedy at this point is a caramel macchiato, a little lie down and a bit of a peek at GameBoomers. I do have to say that my favorite NPCs are Mrs. Gabberly and Mr. McBiscuit, the tartan tearaway. They have the best lines and make me laugh more than anyone. I had fun with the Mrs. Gabberly word game in this episode.

Having trouble finding time to play today. Only shortly into the second episode so far and will try to catch up tomorrow. Beach trip sounds good right now. My dog is far from being a show dog and doesn't mind the sand.

As a "last resort" (sorry bad pun) had to go the Gameboomers for help with cheering up Mrs Gabberly. Now it's time to go make dinner and open the bottle of cabernet with my name on it

Finished episode 2 but not without a lot of wailing and moaning and another visit to gameboomers {Spoiler} getting Mr squeeky back from the floating and spinning umbrella was impossible With a great deal of trepidation it's on to episode 3. I've come to the conclusion that this game would easier AFTER a glass of wine (or two)

Lots of problems with getting on the Woods this morning. Proboards is glitchy today.
Well, I've finished Episode 2. And,yes, lurkercat, it is easier than Episode 1. I think the problem that I was having yesterday had to do with the order in which I was trying to complete tasks. When I switched to a different task, it all came together nicely. One thing that I thought was insurmountable was the final timed sequence. As soon as I know I am facing a QTE especially with multiple action components, I break out in a cold sweat, get weak in the knees and start yelling "I can't do this!". I used to get one of my granddaughters to complete QTEs for me but she grew up and now has a life that doesn't include finishing her Gram's games. But after I slapped myself a couple of times and told myself to "Snap out of it!", I did the required actions. So if I can do it, so can you. I did have to rethink which finger I was using to click which key. I settled on using my left hand to click "Shift" for inventory and "Enter" for select while alternating my right hand between the arrow keys and the mouse. This all took me well over an hour because I am so uncoordinated but I am sure the more agile players can complete it in a matter of minutes. I don't think any of the above is a spoiler - just "profit by my mistakes" hints. By the way, it was a very satisfying ending.
So now it onward and upward with Episode 3.

Well, Jo , I'm encouraged by your protestations of the ease of Chapter 2...though tending to believe smitty189 more! My love-hate relationship (aw, let's admit it, my hate-hate relationship) with the game continued into Chapter 2 as my plan for Gromit to save the day in the opening segment was thwarted by the game refusing to recognize my perfectly proper attempt to "apply the right object to the right spot". After floating forever with no other success, I finally resorted to Gameboomers...only to discover my action ages ago had been the right one all along. No clue why it had previously rejected me. Sheesh, hard enough for me to come up with bright ideas, let alone have them spuriously rejected at the time. I'm busy now being rejected everywhere in town, but have to leave so wont get back to the game till late tonight at the earliest. You wunderkinds will no doubt be finished with Chapter 3 while I'm still floundering in 2. Must admit that while I was quickly off to add Room Two, Three, and Four to my wishlist while playing The Room, there would have been no such hurry for old Wallace & Gromit had all 4 chapters not been in one purchase. It is a cute and funny game, but way too convoluted and needlessly obstructive to really be "fun" to me. Ah, but Gromit is sooooo adorable.

Okay, so IMHO episode 3 is much easier. Either that or I've just gotten used to the way the devs think Aha!

So Jo, so far I have to agree with you that Chapter 2 is easier than Chapter 1....or at least it would be if the game did not hate me! Not done yet, but have all the clues for the crime & only need to figure out how to get them to the constable. Unlike Chapter 1, have only needed to consult the walkthrough once, to finish up with the Major's war story {Spoiler}D-u-h, who knew there was a virtually invisible sound-generator on the wall?? Up till then, I'd been hopelessly trying to extract the seagull from the photo board upstairs to bring it down to the major, or to make Punch & Judy perform their act while he was telling his story, to give him the sound effects he wanted! But I did need to consult the walkthrough twice illegitimately, when the game refused to cooperate with me. The first time, was, as I previously reported, when it refused my correct action for Gromit to save the day during the flood in the basement. The second was to get the umbrella from Felicity & her friend. No matter how many times I arranged for "thunder", only Felicity could hear it. I tried every action I could think of to get both of them to hear it...and a fair number of actions that I was sure were irrelevant, but I was desperate. Nonetheless, after a trillion attempts and a huge amount of time expended, nothing at all worked. Finally, I turned off hints, quit the game, then brought it up again, and finally could get both of them to be in a condition to hear the thunder. Nothing at all worked till then, and certainly turning off hints & restarting should not have fixed anything, but sheesh, what an ordeal. Ah, my infinite ability to stumble into any glitch a game might have!

Had an ah-ha moment and made it to the 18th tee only to again be completely lost.
