I am going to try to play this game without getting distracted or sidelined because I bought it twice, have never played it and it looks delightful.

This is a tough one in a different way than the Room. I've had the breakfast and am wrestling with the cheesy snack at the jail. Time for a break.

good2bqueen , pennmom , I found the critter . I grabbed the badger...and went back to the kitchen...and I figured that I am supposed to use the badger to deliver the egg? but I can't work that out either. I wonder if I have a glitchy game? ( excuses) because one time in the little 'actions' it came up..'use butter with the tea'?? And then I have not seen that again. And then I got a 'use badger with bread box'...are they things I can't do anyway I imagine..but it seems my badger is gone..and I don't remember getting butter in the first place, only examining the stolen lot from the butter tray? I don't think this game is for me? It's too hard for me.

joybelle, It's not too hard for you. You just haven't trained your brain to think like an adventure gamer yet. It's a skill you can learn.
Just follow along for a short time. You'll become more comfortable with the game and will soon start seeing the logic and you'll figure out what to do.
Even old, experienced adventure gamers like me fumble around until we figure it out. In every game I face palm dozens of times because of something that was perfectly obvious in hind sight eluded me completely.
If you could figure it out immediately, it wouldn't be much of a challenge, would it?
Don't give up!

Oh..good heavens..I DID have a glitch! I started again with the confidence of the walkthrough..(thankyou Jo)..and all manner of things were there...I had a honey jar! I had an inventory...it was not showing before..just asking me if I wanted to use what was in it...but I could not see it. All good...I shall fidget on lol. Enjoying it a bit better now. Cheers Cheers Mate

I played the tutorial last night to see if the game worked so I'll start Episode One after lunch today.
joybelle, One good thing about an online written walkthough is that you don't have to read everything to find a hint. Just use the "Find on This Page" feature in your browser. For example, you can type "butter" and it will show you every instance of "butter" in the walkthrough. That keeps you from seeing spoilers when you don't want to.

joybelle , Jo , I love the idea of that type of walk through. I'm so afraid of getting more than I want or need. And forget the you tube videos; don't want to watch someone else play my game.

joybelle , Jo , I love the idea of that type of walk through. I'm so afraid of getting more than I want or need. And forget the you tube videos; don't want to watch someone else play my game. I don't like video walkthroughs, either. Say for example, I need a wrench and I've missed it somewhere. Now I love MaGtRo's walkthroughs at GameBoomers because inventory items are underlined in the walkthrough and they're complete and accurate. So I type in "wrench" and scroll up/down until I see the word "wrench" underlined. That tells me that this is where the wrench becomes an inventory item. I don't have to read anything else to find it. In a video walkthrough, which I've been forced to watch a few times, I don't know where in the video the wrench becomes available and I have to see too much to find it. I usually have to backtrack in the game until I see it sitting in plain sight where I was too much of a dolt to notice it the first time.
When my youngest son, also a gamer, still lived at home, he'd scan the walkthrough and give me a hint.
One really good site that is not really currently being updated is The Universal Hint System. This is a screen shot for the game Grim Fandango which I just picked at random. The game is devided into sections with hints for particular puzzles. As you can see, there are 11 hints for "How do I get Glottis back his heart?". You click one hint at a time, each hint adds more information until the last one gives the complete solution. This was brilliant and soooo helpful without giving too much information. You didn't have to buy the viewer. It was all available online. Wish it was still updated regularly. You can still find a lot of older games there. Great resource.

Couldn't figure it out so I checked the walkthrough which showed me how to get the egg. I restarted the game and this time grabbed it but since I restarted I am waaayyy behind

pennmom ,don't worry much about being behind. I'll be right there with you. Took me forever at the jail. When I have to try something over and over with no success I pop out of the game for a bit load the washer or something and go back.

I've started, but not a fan of this game so far. Hate needing the keyboard for movement rather than just the mouse (and it definitely annoys the cat napping on my lap while I'm playing). Some things just seem way too obscure and/or "just one shot to grab it or it's gone", eg {Spoiler}I didnt grab the badger with the pen in time, and sheesh, it NEVER would have occurred to me to use the butter dish after I found the butter. Clearly Wallace & Gromit do not have my same aversion to dirtying dishes unnecessarily. My own butter never leaves the cellophane wrapper it comes in and lives quite happily that way in the refrigerator! :-) I would caution folks to be more careful in using spoilers to avoid revealing too much. good2bqueen's "open air" comment about the badger & butter was good in providing a nudge without being too revealing. Some other comments, though, tended to reveal too much without protection of a spoiler tag, imho? Like others, I vastly prefer written walkthroughs to the video ones. Thanks for providing the good link Jo!

I'm not altogether sure this is a glitch. It may be a matter of positioning. There have been several places so far when I couldn't access something until I adjusted Wallace or Gromits's position in the scene. The egg machine was one of those. I backed up and approached that part of the counter and I could see it and click on it. Proper positioning is a common irritation in older games although it does crop up in new games too like when you have to be exactly on an item to pick it up, the hot spot being too small. This is a typical classic adventure game with all of its idiosyncrasies and minor annoyances. But it's making me laugh out loud on a regular basis. Gromit's expressions are priceless and I loved it when the neighbor asked Wallace if he had lost his mind which was self-evident. By the way, just on a side note, Nick Park, the creator of Wallace & Gromit for Aardman Animations, helped animate the music video for Peter Gabriel's song Sledgehammer (And Tina Turner & Barry White video of In Your Wildest Dreams). I love good animation. You can see the similarities. I hope there's someone here old enough besides me to remember watching this on MTV many years ago. And, no, I still have no idea what it all means
