Grrr smitty189 , I see your complaint about the rain dance. Once I figured out I was interpreting the requirements all wrong & started doing it the way it was intended, got the first 2 steps with no problem at all on my very first try....and cant even manage to do that on subsequent tries. Would not be nearly so frustrating if bad tries would end earlier or if it would just restart without making you go back and select it all over again. Great plan - make it stupid difficult and then make it a real pain in the butt to repeat. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Ummm, on the other hand, rather than manage to be quick enough to do it, think I'll just see if there is a way to get my computer to run at 1/4 speed....yeah, that sounds like it is more likely to be successful!!

Well I managed to finish what was a very aggravating but also very amusing and challenging game (except for the rain dance which was just ridiculous). It reminded of the old Sierra King's Quest games my kids had (and I would play when they were in bed)

Grumble, grumble, grumble, grumble!!! Ripping Hair Out Angry Typing Shaking Computer Bat To Computer Well, I dont have anywhere near the stick-to-it-tiveness of smitty189. I can only stand about 10 minutes at a crack trying to master the rain dance before giving up in total frustration. I fear this may be the end of the game for me. May give it a couple more tries, but most I've managed so far is 3-4 pairs right & figure I need at least 5 right to make it through...and doubt I'll ever get there. Only once, out of many, many tries, have managed to get even a single pair right after an error....though I think the game "cheats" and charges me with one more error than I really make. Suspect I dont have a high enough tolerance for frustration to make it past this point. Has anyone besides smitty189 succeeded at this??? Grrrr.

I have had so little time to play in this group game. (Though normally I have nothing but time) I really love this game. It's what I always imagined adventure games would be like.
Right now I'm in the temple and the water has stopped flowing to move the elevator up and down and I can't even get the boys to step on the platforms any more. Is this a problem with the game or have I missed a step somewhere? I know I'm way behind and am afraid to read through all the posts to see if someone else had this issue as I might come across a spoiler. (already saw something about a rain dance and it looks like a frustrating challenge for my future)
I may just start the game over to play straight through because I like it that much. Unfortunately I was lazy and only used the auto save or would have gone back to an earlier point. Hope everyone enjoyed this one. Any help is appreciated.

I'm going to go try again but the problem is Nate is on the second level and can't fit through that door. If it doesn't work I may just push him over the edge and start the game over. It will go quickly the second time through. Thanks for the help.

Never mind! I found kind of a work around. When I hit "new game" it allowed me to start at the beginning of the chapter I was on. Or any chapter I had already completed. So I have just landed on the island which is so much better than starting the entire game over.

Ah, I still cannot do the rain dance, BUT I've found I was inadvertently doing something that actually made the job much harder. Putting my "lesson learned" here just in case it might help good2bqueen or anyone else who may still be working on this game....
Each "step" consists of two tiles with arrows on them. Goal is to click the 2 corresponding arrows on your keyboard while the "step" is between the green brackets. I was trying to do this with 3 fingers, one on each of the left arrow, up arrow, and right arrow. And, as the step passed through the green brackets, I tried to individually and consecutively move each of the corresponding fingers. Best I could ever achieve with that was 4 steps correct. My "sudden realization" - dont try moving the fingers consecutively - move them as a pair (ie, at the same time). Makes the process way easier and much less work. I still can only manage to get 5 or 6 steps correct...but can do that more consistently, with far less effort on my part, AND get (sort of) rewarded with Nate saying something like, "well, that try wasnt that bad" as opposed to his previous "I've still got quite a bit to learn". Well, at least this has given me some hope I might be able to actually get past this step, instead of being on the verge of quitting the game entirely, which would be a shame since the game is otherwise quite fun. May still throw in the towel, but at least now I can at least see a tiny ray of hope. ....Just in case this observation helps someone else who may also have misinterpreted how to go about this dance.

lurkercat , Thanks for the rain dance tips. I will gladly use them when I get there. Still in the temple repeatedly tossing stones. I understand your frustrations as I shut down the game and do something else to save my monitor from violence every time frustration takes over. Think I'll have to find a walk through to see what the heck I'm doing wrong or not doing. l

Yeah good2bqueen , I needed a walkthrough in the temple a couple times when the game refused to accept my perfectly reasonable solutions to several situations (well, perfectly reasonable to me at least!). I used the gameboomers one, no doubt originally suggested by Jo (if not for this game then for at least one other that we've played): Walkthrough

Aarrggghhhhh, smitty189 , you have the patience of a saint!! Of course it does not help that I JUST realized that my little crib sheet for the rain dance is wrong. Wondered why it kept marking me wrong when I clearly did one of the steps right & within brackets...and finally noticed that what I'd "thought" was (up arrow, right arrow) was actually (up arrow, down arrow). Grrr. Not only does it explain why I couldnt progress, but it throws off my whole scheme of using 3 fingers to manipulate the arrows. I'm totally flummoxed as to how to get 4 fingers in that little space AND neither my little finger nor my thumb seems up to the dexterity challenge to fill in. Sigh.Thought I finally had a "smart" idea to use both the arrow buttons clustered together AND the arrow keys sharing space with the keypad, but can't get the game to recognize the keypad arrows. Think I am done for. Ripping Hair Out
Got any further pearls of wisdom to share before I just give up in utter defeat??

lurkercat , the only thing I can think of is to just keep at it until you finally get it done. Every time I would give up and walk away for a break I would lose any momentum I had built up. It's really very frustrating and they should have put in a skip (even tho I HATE to skip puzzles). It's not a matter of patience but the fact that I am a stubborn old mule. Had a puzzle in one of the old Redemption Cemetery games that took days to figure out At one point I did try writing down the sequence of moves and memorizing it that helped get me to "S*** I was so close"

O-M-G! O-M-G! I DID IT!!!! Well, truth be told, I think I only did it by the good fortune of choosing to download Keepsake from Steam, and while it was downloading, went back & tried the rain dance again. And, d-u-h, the download apparently slowed my machine down just enough that (well, after 10-20 tries), I was finally able to finish with fewer than 5 mis-steps. (Ok, so I finished with 4 mis-steps, but heck, I'll take that!). Thank heavens for downloading Keepsake! Happy dance, happy dance!
ETA, but P.S. I have now totally forgotten the story and have no idea what I'm doing in the game. Oh well, progress, I guess.

Oh my goodness, the dragon in the volcano is THE most adorable character in the entire game! And what a cute tie-back to the very beginning of the story. Pity such a delightful creature is hidden behind the #*&^*@% rain dance, 'cause I'm sure many players gave up before ever getting to meet her!
Meanwhile, I have absolutely no recollection of how Nate came to be on his current quest anyhow. I do remember at least part of what he is trying to do here...but absolutely no clue why. Heck with a walkthrough, I need a story synopsis 'cause the rain dance delayed me so long I've forgotten most everything else. I know he's trying to gather equipment to fight in a contest with the orcs, but why he wants to do that, and what relation that has to the overall story of the game, has completely disappeared from my little mind. Ah, but I do love the dragon in the volcano - wish there was more of her!
