I got to the second trial but this will take forever because of the way it's set up and because my game freezes every three or four moves. I had it partially solved and didn't save in time and now it is all bolluxed up. Ah well. Zak got his potion but well ...... Bat To Computer

smitty189, Have you tried playing in window mode? Someone somewhere mentioned that they had more freezes in full screen. This is how it looks on my computer. It is significantly smaller which may be a problem depending on your monitor size. Does it freeze regardless of what you're doing? Or does it freeze during certain actions? Give Window mode a try and see if it's as bad. Maybe if you're getting ready to do a puzzle, you could save and exit and then switch to window mode until you're done with the puzzle. This has to be so frustrating and could ruin the game for you. You're still making excellent progress, ahead of us all as usual, even with all the freezes.

Jo, thanks for the suggestion but as I was entering the Guardians room (for the second level)it froze again and it will not let me proceed at all. I'll tinker with it a bit but it appears I am done which is unfortunate cause it was fun but I just cannot justify starting over. The only reason I may be ahead is because I'm required to do hand therapy at a table (or desk heh heh) so I have a bit of sitting time and it's my left hand not my mouse hand

smitty189, Please, try one more thing before you give up! Some games, sometimes, get "corrupted". Steam has an "integrity verification" and during this process it is capable to "fix" some corrupted files in games. Please do this:
1. Go to the game in your library and right click on the title, then click "properties"
2. Choose "local files" from the opened window, and then click "verify integrity of game files.."
There is an other (more complicated) crash fix for 3 known "hot spots" where the game crashes for many (not for all), I will post that if it is needed, let me know.

Whew. Finally managed to pass my Trial of Allegiance (though it took me multiple tries & another trip around the academy to get one of the answers right (and one that I just guessed at since I didnt remember anything deliberately telling me the answer)). Both Zak and Lydia are quite winded at this point. And sheesh, if Zak had just bothered to suggest I pick up the spear while we were in the right room, it would have saved both of us an extra trip across the whole complex. And what a nuisance to go all the way out to the glade only to find I needed something extra before the tree would talk to me. Developers must have thought they got paid by the mile players traveled! Trying to pass the Minotaur Maze...making progress but think I'll wait till tomorrow to continue the struggle. Hope your game "self-defrosts" overnight smitty189 and magically returns to playabiity! A real shame to get as far as you have and have to give it up. Bat To Computer

moni, unfortunately it did not work, so being me I decided to try the install/uninstall voodoo dance (please note not a raindance) and now the game will not correctly re-install. So much for my hunches so ... looks like I'm out but I'll tinker further when I can. I was really enjoying the game and was getting good at navigating the school But mostly I like group game plays I imagine it's akin to group therapy lmao.

I haven't even played today. Had a bunch of stuff to take care of earlier like groceries and then at about 5pm we had a 2 1/2 hour power outage. So all I did was sit on the porch and read on my phone. Maybe I'll play this evening. If not, tomorrow.
smitty189 , any luck? It's funny that you should mention Group Therapy. When the group play bunch left Pond Friends for Discord, the leader of the group named our channel Group Therapy. Group plays are good, life affirming, warm. often funny and always friendly. Great invention. Right up there with sliced bread.

Aaarrrgggghhhh!! HELP please, from someone who knows about PCs!
Keepsake threw an exception and crashed while I was trying to arrange the bridges for the Trial of Wisdom. BUT...it left my machine display set up at the 1024x768 that the game apparently runs at...so my desktop was suddenly shrunk to fill only a part of the screen. I tried to fix this by restoring the display settings to what I thought I used (1280x768?), but that still left me with black bars on both side edges, instead of filling the screen. So, I tried changing to 1366x768 (which I KNOW I did NOT use before). Still had black bars on the side (smaller than at 1280, which were smaller than what Keepsake left me at with its imposed 1024), but it also meant that The Woods display, for example, was scaled down, so the main portion occupied the 1280 & I got the background tan with white dots on the space between 1280 & 1366. HELP. Can anyone tell me how to get my real, intended screen back???? I tried a Restart, but that didnt fix anything. Hoping a Shutdown will, but really have no reason to expect that to work either. HELP!! I want my computer back to what it was!!
Meanwhile, I have no idea what Keepsake will do when I try to bring it up again...but I'm not going to even consider doing that till I get my computer back in working shape. Aaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You most likely have your display in "portrait" mode - needs to be changed to "landscape"
Start menu - Settings - System -Display (the same page where you adjust resolution and app sizes) and change to "landscape"

Also, here is a possible solution for the 3 crash sites. (source: Keepsake Steam Discussion)
Original post:
3 Instances where the game crashes I played the english version and I noticed 3 times where the game crashes:
1- During the second trial where you have to use the levers with zak as a cat to find the right combination. The game crashes and shuts down all the time, I had to restart many, many times so I could end it. 2- During the ship in the bottle puzzle on Nathaniel's office. When she is in the stairs maze the game crashes all the time. I had to restart lots of time. I suspect if it has something to do with the steam achievements, because there was a message of something about it. 3- During the ending credits. The game simply crashes and I couldn't see what happens after that.

Well, situation "improved" but still not right after a shutdown. Still have small black bands on sides of my screen, but they are only about 3/8 inch wide each (vs last night's larger gap). And The Woods still comes up in my browser with an additional tan border outside the green border that used to take up my full screen (so my screen has about 3/8 inch black, then 3/8 inch tan on each side). Screen is in fact in landscape.
One setting that I could get to come up last night that I cannot find today...while I was dorking around last night trying to get my display back to normal, I chanced upon a setting that was basically "how do you want your display to fit on your monitor". It had about 6-8 selections, as I recall. The only 2 settings I remember were "full screen" and "panel fit". Last night I selected "full screen", which got me to the narrower 3/8 inch black border. My intent was to try the "panel fit" option next....but I cannot find anywhere to get back to that selection. Tried display settings, graphics properties, and graphics options...and dont see that selection on any of them (and dont remember trying anything more adventuresome last night). But nothing I do gets me back to that menu selection. Does this ring any bells with anyone??
I HATE my new monitor display and cannot figure out how to get the old one back. (Yes, I do realize it is a "small" discrepancy...I dont care. I HATE it). Clues anyone?

lurkercat , I found this walkthrough on the matter.
Also, (i don't have this option, but you may have) right click on an empty place anywhere on your screen, choose Graphics Option and that should take you to the "panel"

Ok, frustrated at trying to fix my screen, I went back into Keepsake...but not being a masochist & knowing the game would continue to crash anytime I deviated from the "intended" path, I just looked up the solution to the Trial of Wisdom stairway & did exactly that, without incident. Now, would anyone like to debate the "solution" to the Trial of Wisdom? I was absolutely convinced 2 of my 4 answers were "perfect" and am disheartened to know they are not. (Dont quite know the full answer yet, just that my 2 "positives" are wrong). Perhaps I'll see the error of my ways when I finally break down & read the answer (and hopefully rationale) in a walkthrough...but I dont think I'll hold my breath on that! Riddle number 2: I thought this should have been Celestial (as in when the sun is out, I always have my shadow & when the sun is gone, so is my friend (ie, my shadow)) Riddle number 3: How could the answer possibly not be Earth - it's so obvious I'm not even tempted to explain here!! Riddle number 1: I wanted the answer to be Wind, but that was not among the options Riddle number 4: Sure seemed like Spiritual ought to be the answer. What did y'all think of the answers the game wanted, and did you think you had better choices??

My legs are sooo tired. All those stairs! If I could create a jump map I'd catch up with everyone else in no time. I've gotten into the safe with a whole lot of fiddling around and started the trials. Hoping to spend most of the day tomorrow playing but will be sure to stretch my legs first. Also I hope all the tech issues get worked out for everyone because this game is worth it.

I think I will give up on trying to fix it. My daughter has a masters in this stuff but she disains my gaming so I won't ask her also she lives 2.5 hours away and will say she can't fix what she can't see lol. Guess my only option is to start over but....

Okay, I'm back on the job!
It took me forever to figure out how to trigger the cauldron so I could move it. Then I got completely turned around and couldn't remember how to get back to the pantry. I was sure there was a way other than going back to the Enchanted Crossway/Garden Watch/Garden/Dininghall/Pantry but noooooo, couldn't find it. I may start drinking because black coffee isn't cutting it.
Now I get to transform Zak. Finally!
ETA: And now I've hit my first freeze running up the stairs to start the second trial. I'm going to whine for a bit and then read through the posts on how other groupies made it through this.

Sadly nothing will unfreeze my game and if I start a new one and that freezes as well I may have to shoot someone (preferable the guys building a garage in their backyard and starting at 6:30 am waking us both up)
