What are the best games you played in 2022 that were released in 2022? Nominate as many games as you like. I doesn't matter where you bought the game.
We'll just take all nominations and sort out the genres later.
We have Joybelle's nomination from another thread already:I added the links to Joybelle's nomination and I assume she bought them at BF.
Nominations:
Oldie but Goody Played in 2022 Nominations: (So good it withstands the test of time.)

I second that nomination! My second choice would be Moontrain by Dragonseyestudio. I have to give the team credit for finishing up a game started by Kris who passed away unexpectedly.

Well, I'm not going to be much fun as it seems I didn't buy much in 2022 that was actually from 2022. And a few that did tick those boxes I haven't played yet, like Moontrain.
But here are my few nominations: New Yankee 11: Battle of the Bride New Yankee 12: Karma Tales Spellarium 8 Cursed House 11 Roads of Rome: Portals 2

I think the last HOPA I really enjoyed was MCF: Escape Ravenhearst, although I've not played any HOPAS for awhile..I agree Roads of Rome should be nominated, any of them are good.

I love the Roads of Rome series.
Sorry for the late reply. Just thought I'd mention it.

I would like to nominate numerous games, one by category.
Puzzle: Monument Valley (1 and 2) link
Adventure: The House of Da Vinci III. link
HOPA: I haven't a good candidate - I dislike this genre.
Time Management: My absolute love(s) are all older releases, but Islandville: A New Home (BFG) was pretty decent, so I nominate it.
Platformer: Meow Express link (although, I think, Stray link would fit in this cat. (?)
Escape: Escape Memoirs link
HO: FIND ALL 2: Middle Ages link
Jigsaw: Master of Pieces link - it was released on Dec. 17, 2021, but its DLCs are from 2022. Would this qualify it?

I vote for Lost Lands: Sand Captivity. I don't buy very many HOPA's any more but I have to buy this series.
Spellarium 8 and Cursed House 11 are also good.
I also like Master of pieces.

Let's give this a few more days for nominations and vote on Monday, April 24, 2023. orionsrose and everyone else, that gives you time to play some more games, assess the nominations and maybe nominate some more games. We'll just go for overall winners because we don't really have enough games in all genres except TM games. Are three votes per Woodsy enough? I think most Woodsies play multiple genres anyway.

I don't venture much from HOPA and TM but I have been playing some new-to-me HOPA games. I'll have to check out when they were released.

Well, cheapskate that I am, I rarely buy & play "new" games (ie, I wait till games are old and so really cheap on sale) so have only managed to play 2 of the games on the "best of 2022" list to completion. And, duh, the couple other new ones I bought this year cannot begin to touch Lost Lands in quality or length, so no sense nominating them. (Ummm, as an aside, after enjoying Sand Captivity, I went back & am currently playing its predecessor in the series (Redemption), which I'd bought in 2020 but hadnt played yet....and d-u-h, what a whiner her son Jimmy is!!). But the "Oldie but Goodie" category looks sad with only 1 item in it, so I'd toss in Keepsake, which we played as part of our group games in 2022. A REAL oldie, but surprisingly enticing. Sad that the category has a "played in 2022" qualifier, 'cause otherwise I'd add Gorogoa & The Cabinets of Dr. Arcana, also from our group play games, but from 2021. These 3 are definitely my favorites from those we've done together to date and on my "all-time-favorites" list.
(And look - I'm a cute little hedgehog now...though I've already forgotten what my post-count-symbol was up til now...though I probably liked that one too).

For Oldie and Gooddie let me throw 2 TM games into the mix. I would've nominated Keepsake, also, but lurkercat, has already nominated it! ! :-*

I have a couple more games for the "oldies but goodies" that I love and played in 2022...
Epistory: Typing Chronicles Next Stop (1,2, and/or 3 - they are all great and essentially the same game, so can't pick a fave)

Can those of you who loved Moontrain please explain to me why? Like honestly, that wasn't a sarcastic question...I want to know what exactly made you love it so much. I understand there's a sad story involved somehow about a developer, but that can't be why you all love it so much.
I started playing it on the weekend so I could accurately vote in that category. I expected to LOVE it, but it's honestly just driving me crazy. I have loved other games of the same type that really make you think (and don't hold your hand), but unfortunately, I'm not loving this one. I keep thinking I must be missing something if you all love it and I don't. I tend to agree with a lot of you on games (except Varenje which I hated so much I even wrote my first (and only) review, but a lot of you guys loved it).
I will be finishing it, but I think I'll wait until I hear some reasons from you guys and maybe I can see how to love it too.
