OK - so I'll go first - when I'm not playing games, I like to knit - by hand and by machine
are there any other knitters here?

Since the pandemic, I have been trying to determine exactly what I like to do. I love doing jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and reading. I'm not crafty at all, but I can do a pretty awesome dried flower arrangement.

I crochet, cook, bake and garden. I can sew but haven't lately beside mending. Doodle some times.

Ah, pennmom , really ambitious (and pretty) jigsaws! I can't imagine trying to tackle the Life one (and even less so if doing it via squares rather than shaped pieces). But no fair giving us the Pandas, without telling us how many pandas we need to find in the picture. I'm only up to 11 tigers and hope to finish that before starting the bears. Tsk, pennmom always manages to give us homework! Oh well, I wasnt really going to do any of my housework anyhow!

I used to make Temari balls. Saw some online and was intrigued. Stopped when my dog decided to play with my favorite one. (Plus, I'd rather have her on my lap than my craftwork. ) Now that my dog is a senior, I think it is time I get back to crafting! All my supplies are waiting for me. My results are very much Beginner level. There are some spectacularly intricate Temari balls one can see online. The red/green/silver ball at the upper left is the one my pup and I liked the best. A couple of my hobbies turned into jobs when I realized I could make money from them. So a curious dabbling with needlepoint to pass the time when working backstage at the theatre when nothing was going on led to eventually getting good enough to sell at some of the craft stores around town, at craft fairs, and take on some private commissions.
Then there was the music (organ)... one of my teachers said she thought I could handle taking the Western Board of Music exams in practicals and theory, which eventually led to teaching music for awhile.
Other hobbies include collecting penguins, books, and print fanzines, reading, coloring, puzzles, drawing, and writing - stories, poetry, and filk music.

I used to cross-stitch from those packaged kits you can buy in craft stores back in the 90s, but then my family made the mistake of getting me a PC good enough to game on which brought back my passion for gaming LOL. Back in those days I also dabbled with jewelry making, but wasn't super good at it. I love to eat, but not cook, and have the Andrew Zimmern mentality regarding food, despite being vegetarian for many years. My motto is "if it looks good and doesn't have meat, eat it." When I'm not gaming or busy beta testing the latest M3 projects from 2 of my game developer friends in between the day job, my guilty pleasure is reading super trashy romance novels on my Kindle. Sometimes I read scientific stuff, but it's pop-science (Napoleon's Buttons or The Violinist's Thumb are examples) for when my lab rat side wants to relax.

I have a Kindle and ignored it for ages when I discovered the Kindle for PC app on Amazon. But then I also got hooked on Harry Potter last year and downloaded the entire book series (including the extras). I went on a Harry Potter binge - after watching all the movies, a slew of YouTube videos analyzing the books and movies, and have been diving into fanfiction.
Anyone want Harry Potter stories? Fanfiction.net has over 800 THOUSAND of them. I don't know how many more are available on Archive Of Our Own (AO3) or Wattpad or other sites. There's some duplication, but still...
And yeah, some of it's just trashy romance, but there's nothing wrong with that. It's the super-explicit stuff I don't care for.

Hi sonia
Your hair is so long and thick and it didn't look like that in the avatar photo.

Just think of the mayhem a cat could commit with that pile of yarn...
If I knew how to knit, I could make my very own Doctor Who scarf. All 17 feet of it.
Are there any writers here? Poetry, stories, novels, bit and pieces that just want to be written? I've been participating in NaNoWriMo for the past 14 years, and the next session is coming up in April.
