Group Game Play for Gorogoa will begin at 9am Friday 7/9/21 (at that time in your time zone!)
I must confess that I'll be a far less useful host for the game than pennmom has been in our previous group plays. Unlike her amazing ability to whip through games and puzzles lickety-split and be able to explain to the rest of us how to do them, I'm the little plodder who will generally be dead last in figuring things out, so we'll have to help one another as best we can.
Gorogoa looks like a beautiful, yet serious, story told through pictures and your manipulation of them to accomplish the ending. Personally, I'm a word person. I think in words & cannot understand pictures to save my life. I found some interesting summaries that may help explain some of the story & goals of the game. I'd suggest NOT looking at the summary until after you've finished the 1st chapter (collect the apple) and then compare your impressions to this description. I dont think this is really a spoiler, but will hide it so you can form your own opinions first:
Duh, I'll put the summary in the next post, 'cause I just accidentally wiped it out & will have to reconstruct it (sigh). Will also add some generic hints for things to try before looking for more detailed help ('cause I accidentally wiped that out too....ummm, perhaps you are beginning to see a possible explanation why I'm always last in games!)

Below is a brief summary of the story & the goals of Gorogoa. Best to complete Chapter 1 (collect the apple) to form your own impressions before checking this: {Summary Story & Game Goals}The story begins with a young boy, staring out over his city, and seeing the wings of a colorful creature arch over the surrounding buildings as it passes by. He goes to his books to find more about the creature & observes what seems to be a required offering of 5 orbs to this mystical creature. As he embarks upon the quest to gather these orbs, scenes in the game follow periods of time in the 20th century, including peace, war, and rebuilding, and the life of the boy as a survivor of war, living through the rebuilding, and then reflecting on his past as an old man. The final chapter shows the results of his having met his presumed quest, and how/whether it matches his expectations.
The following general aids may help you progress when searching for the solution to the next puzzle, courtesy of Jason Roberts, developer of Gorogoa, via the preface to his walkthrough. He hoped following these tips would help folks solve the game without need to resort to a walkthrough. {General Tips for the Game} – In every chapter, your goal is to collect a colored fruit. That means helping the boy travel with his blue bowl – If you’re seemingly stuck, don’t forget to try moving a panel to see what’s behind it. Sometimes there’s more than one layer, but you won’t know that until you try. – If you’re having trouble, turn on the hints/hot spot locator in the settings. It won’t help you with the puzzles, but it will keep you from blindly tapping everything. – There’s a sense of symmetry to the game. Keep in mind what you did for one puzzle in a chapter, as there’s a strong likelihood you’ll have to do something similar soon. – Sometimes you need to shuffle two panels back and forth so something can travel between them. – Take your time and play around. It’s not a very long game, so enjoy the time spent figuring out the puzzles. It’s much more satisfying to figure it out on your own.

One final observation & then I'm done till we play: Some of the information on the web implies there are multiple Achievements to be earned throughout the game. Two of the more unexpected: - An award for completing the game in 30 minutes or less - An award for completing the game within 500 moves or less
I'd feel downright cheated if the game only lasted 30 minutes! Little chance of that for me at least, as I blew through at least 1/2 that time merely collecting the apple, which was little challenge since the screen for it is shown in the game trailer. I'd expect the game would be far more fun if one takes their time with it, and enjoys the various visual delights it holds. In any event, I couldnt find a place where I could track my elapsed time nor my # of moves, so I'm not sure how we'd see if we were on track for these awards as we progressed through the chapters.

Lurkercat, the time you have played is always displayed on your Steam Client in your Library at the right of the game title. It says "Play" - "Last Played" - "Play Time". And underneath "Play Time" you will find how long you have played the game.
I have bought the game a while back, and have 2.7 hours shown.
This is quite a puzzle, and not easy to solve, unless you use a walkthrough, which I didn't. I am not even sure I ever finished the game or rather went through the same sections again and again, because I couldn't find a way out.
Anyway, good luck and happy playing to all who will take part in the Group Play.

thanks for selecting Gorogoa as the group play game - I've bought it a long time ago, but never got around to playing it - it will be fun to get the support when things get tricky

I've bought the game I'm in. I go and play it right now. Well, after I'm done with catching up with stuff here. Sorry, for staying away for long, I had and emergency.

Hey @valdy, want to try replaying it along with the rest of us? You could be our resident expert!! Since I assume pennmom will not play since she has more than enough to deal with due to her tragic fire, we'll otherwise no doubt be the blind leading the blind left to our own devices! moni, hope your "emergency" had no lasting ill impacts. Glad to have you along. Spinning Daisy

lurkercat, Thanks for all the effort you've already put in. Bought the game a while back but only got to the first apple so looking forward to finishing. You've already been a great sub for pennmom. Feel so badly for her and her family. Anyway thanks and

joybelle, sonia (username @eskarina), moni, smitty189, @valdy, Unless you are one of the whizzes who can actually complete Gorogoa in less than 30 minutes(!), please let us know where you are in the game when you give up for the day. Also, if you make some discovery that helps you progress in the game, please pass that info along too - plain text for general aids, or a spoiler if your discovery gives away some specific detail that others might find "too" revealing. Thanks! One thing I discovered - if you find yourself with no seeming way to progress, double check that you've actually examined every hot spot in each screen. On the "menu" page (with language selection sound controls, exit, etc), there is a boxed picture about midway down the screen. If it is checked, clicking in a screen will show you all hot spots there. If unchecked, the game will not provide this extra help. While looking for the green orb, after I thought I'd done every possible manipulation of all the screens I had & no other ideas of what to do, I clicked in one of the screens & was thrilled to have it show me a hot spot I'd previously overlooked...and that was key to progressing! I had not been sensitive to that before and hadnt even realized what that option in the menu was telling me (duh, I've told you I dont understand pictures, though I did wonder what that menu option was for!). Also, if you get stuck, to make sure you've clicked every zoom out button ("-") and have looked in all parts of the screen (clicked on all arrow symbols in a screen).

So, I'm done with the "apple"... now I'm on the green emblem to collect. Just on the margin, this game is the wierdest, most confusing game I've ever played. I may will get a hang of it, but I doubt it will be my absolute favorite. The graphics are gorgeous, though, and even if it is messing with me, it's good to play something different.

Ok..I started..I MAY keep going..but like moni, I am stuck and it is WEIRD...I have a boy with a bowl that has climbed into the tower and has thought 'green'...a room with a lamp and a wardrobe. And the original door (elevator?) that when expanded shows a green sign with an arrow on it...and now..I have ABSOLUTELY..NO IDEA..what to do.. Rolling Along I am not sure I actually like this?? Will wait and see if I can progress before passing any more judgement. Cheers Mate

Here is a little tip: When you overlap an image onto another one (elevator), you sometimes have to take that overlapping image away again after you used it on the other image, otherwise you can't get into that place.

It is about to collect 5 different colored fruits, then there is a "conclusion" chapter. People with the "right" mind (or left, lol) may could conclude this game in a mare half an hour. I'm certainly not one of them! I suspect, that the 30 min. finish can be achieved upon "replaying" the game - when we already know what to cut, overlap, walk in, zoom in, attach, and in what order. I don't want to post the videos at once, it would kinda spoil the "joy of discovering" this game ourselves... no?... But I post the rest of them, like one a day? Is that ok? The link to the site where I got these videos from is posted by lurkercat , if you don't want to wait and "suffer"... ... here is a link to lurkercat , post in this thread.

Yes that's fine moni , really appreciate. I will just fiddle around as I am stuck again..i got the see saw shelf and a cloud and a rock..and I lost the room with the guy that needed the lamp..cos I couldnt seem to give it too him. I will load the chapter again I guess when I find out how..but really for now I am kinda stopping. I only do my head in to a certain line in the sand.. .. At this point I have two frames with round holes..a cloud and a rock. And everything else has gone..the shelf the pencils...gone..poof! Oh and occasionally I seem to be able to access the star??...but I think I lost that too. Thankyou for all the help.
