Seems everybody has passed the yellow gosh darn apple, but me... OMG I finally figured out how to brake the glass over the butterfly, now I'm trying to magnetize the tower clock handles and I'm running out of patience. They just don't freaking want to point where I want them to point. I can't even imagine what awaits at the blue apple... Sorry my friends, I cannot get the liking of this game. I do have a few "AHA!" moments, but I have more of a "what's this now?" moment, and they take a lot away from my enjoyment. I may finish it one time, but I feel, I will fall behind you girls a great deal. (lol... I can see myself still posting here a month later that I'm still on my blue apple) The problem is, that I have to stop playing it frequently, because I work myself up... Angry Typing I'm like: "Oh! I got it!.... then... "Nope, I didn't!".... and then... "That has to be it!".... then "You stupid goose!" Shaking Computer
So here is my midway review of Gorogoa:
I'm still stupid.

Ah, moni , here I was worried about your possibly getting too stressed while fighting with Gorogoa.....and then I stumbled on your "Tiki Bar" thread for the first time. No worries, girl, you've got all the right skills to deal with frustrating games!! Bouncy Puppy
(I'm now going to go off and sulk at how skimpily my liquor cabinet is furnished - your recipes look wonderful!).

Ah, everyone taking Sunday off to give their minds a rest? Me too. I'm down to needing the proverbial "one last thing" to make progress on the blue orb, but darned if I can figure it out. Oh well, perhaps cleaning the kitchen will get my mind to be sharper! Rest up everybody...except for smitty189 who can just bask in her glory at finishing successfully!

I pretty much slept through all Sunday, I'm a bit sick and took meds. I'll post the remaining videos (2) at once. I'm still magnetizing tower clock handles, I will complete this game on one point, but it won't be pretty soon.
So... video walkthrough to the PURPLE APPLE
Attn: the videos below are spoilers, watch them only if you are hopelessly stuck.

moni, Which clock hand are you having trouble with? As I recall, it was really very easy to get the time set once I figured out what caused each hand to move. I currently forget how I got the red one to move, but it only took 1 step. For the blue one, it was just simple experimentation on where to place the screen with the magnet relative to the hand. Once you get the time set, though, you need to {Spoiler}Overlay 3 windows: red hand, blue hand, empty circle before the action takes effect

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe it has taken going through 3 3/4 of this game before discovering this:
As I've gone through the game, I've often chanced upon a helpful move, only to then wonder "Now how did the developer expect me to figure that out?". Well, gosh, he leaves me a trail of breadcrumbs! I wonder how many trails I've missed so far!
Dont think this really contains spoilers, as you'll find these yourself as soon as you get far enough in the game, so I'll just say it out: I have often along the way come up with "oh yeah, I know I saw something that would fit in with this somewhere, now gosh darn it, where was that". Obviously the orb symbol is one breadcrumb meant to help us (though I havent figured out how to exploit that), but while struggling with finding the blue orb, having gone through multiple iterations of refining the "circle with 4 different images" scenes, I was frustrated at trying to figure out where to go next. Since at that point I had 4 basic "root" scenes (ie, ones I could not do anything other than zoom in on), I reluctantly settled for making a crib sheet - documented for each root scene what options I had & what were the interim & end results of each independent action I could take in the scene. That was helpful just in itself, 'cause when I got to the "oh yeah, this matches something point", I just looked on my list to find the matching point. I could also use the list to figure out what potential matches I might have. Anyhow, as I progressed I found I could just cross out some paths entirely once I got something that entirely replaced the root scene and could just add another list of actions for the new rood screen. After a couple levels of this, I suddenly noticed I had 4 scenes that nicely referenced one another. My "key" scene turned out to be of a blue plate with a petal insignia on it and a ladle in front of it with a club shape on it. Well gee, I had one open window with an exact replica (and exactly same color) as the petal insignia...and a blown up insignia was exactly what I needed to fill in that elusive circular shape I'd been searching for for awhile. The color is what mainly made the plate a bread crumb for me. Then, it turned out the club on the ladle exactly matched the symbol on one of the 3 bells that you could zoom to from the root screen of the boy sitting hunched over by a window, with 3 bells & a blue necklace...and zooming to that bell got me eventually to the scene of the boy walking up the stairs who stops midway to get water with his ladle. The breadcrumb in this case was the club symbol on the ladle from the plate scene.
Anyhow, I'm starting to realize that not only was the developer clever in putting together the various puzzles, but he also took diabolical pleasure in leaving us breadcrumbs to follow to figure out a path through the puzzles, if only we were watching enough to pick them out! A method to his madness that was trying to give us clues as to how to go.
Did everyone else already notice the breadcrumbs? Cant wait to see if my new discovery makes the game easier!

moni, joybelle, @sonia - Are you guys still at it? My new "breadcrumbs" discovery has finally helped me get the blue orb, though after abandoning the game for a day, it took me awhile to remember what I needed to do with the result of the rotation on the screen with the boy climbing the stairs (forgot Jason's tip about "There’s a sense of symmetry to the game. Keep in mind what you did for one puzzle in a chapter, as there’s a strong likelihood you’ll have to do something similar soon."). Duh, yeah. Anyhow, I'm off now to get the purple ball and to see if a search for breadcrumbs makes that quest easier.

lurkercat , - yes, I'm still at it - had to take a few days off - we had a wonderful time sailing and the wind blew my head empty of all thoughts about the game - so today I'll start afresh - I, too, noticed the breadcrumbs only when I was already into the game

Congratulations sonia (username @eskarina),.....great going. smitty189 's comments on the trouble finding the purple orb have me a bit scared, but I'm eager to get back at it.

Well, trailing the pack as usual, I've finally finished Gorogoa. I really enjoyed it (ignore all those many swear words you may have heard during the many places in it where I was stuck with little hope of figuring things out). Almost broke down in the search for the last ball & was tempted to seek out the walkthrough, but happy to say I finally mastered it, without ever consulting the show-and-tell. Got 7 of the 11 achievements. For reasons I cannot fathom, I cant imagine how the medals for "finish in 30 minutes or less" or "finish in 500 moves or less" escaped me. Seems like my 8.3 hours completing the game was certainly close enough to 30 minutes to qualify, dont you think? And I'm sure I must have gone through at least the 500 moves in the search for either of the last 2 orbs! Ending was rather lackluster, and must admit I have no clue what the story was. A good game nonetheless and recommended for anyone who wants a fun but (eventually!) achievable challenge. moni - are you still hanging in there??

lurkercat, Sadly, I put this game on hold. I think, this is the kind of game you either love or cannot stand. I fall in to the later. I couldn't get used to the game mechanics, I didn't find the story line, the bread crumbs didn't feed enough information, the whole game feels rather impersonal and cold. I found myself frantically clicking around to figure out what fits or not, cut, move, insert... On the positive side, the graphics are amazing, and the puzzles are fiendish and unique.
After solving the red and green in a mare 19 min., I've spent nearly an hour to catch the falling rock to break the glass around the moth... And that's the part where my frustration with the game started - I already knew what to do, I just couldn't do it fast enough, and the game lost me at this part. This feature, that you need to be fast, even if you solved the step, if you don't jerk quickly, you are doomed to start again the already solved step over and over again, angered me.
By the Steam clock, I've spent 77min. playing this game, and I'm afraid, I won't conclude it in the nearby future. Besides you girls cheering me up, the game doesn't offer any motivation to keep me going, or ignite my interest. Due to the poor story line, I'm simply indifferent about how it ends.
No matter what, though, I'm appreciate, and , all of you, to play this game with me. It is fun to play a game together. Sniffing Flower Cheering

Ah, moni, sorry to hear you found the game more frustrating than enjoyable. It is certainly different from our normal adventures. Thanks for hanging in as long as you did. Anyone want to suggest some candidates for our next group play??
