My consideration of a reward in coins for solving a Mahjongg level:
In Jewel Match games, the rule is that a player always gets 20 coins for solving, no matter how many times he uses "Shuffle". This seems "unfair" to me, it doesn't motivate careful and thoughtful action.
I think it would be good if every shuffle was followed by some sort of penalty. I would probably give more coins for playing without shuffling, e.g. 30 (?), and for each use of "Shuffle" the number of coins gained would be reduced by ?? coins up to some limit, e.g. 10 (?).
What do you think about this?

What do you think about this? I'm happy with how they are, since you don't get more than 20 for Mahjongg games. Some of them are really not easy. I've been playing the "Summertime" Jewel Match (somehow I missed it when it was first out), and I've got something lie half a dozen sets of 6 Mahjongg games to do, even though I've reached the last 10 or so regular levels (will need to go back to do some that didn't get 3 stars; some of those higher levels are viciously hard).

I am also satisfied, but I think that finishing WITHOUT shuffling and finishing with 10 shuffles should be awarded differently. OT: Graphics aside, IMHO the best rendition of Mahjongg is this (with option to view move history): archive.org/details/mah_jongg_25Can be run directly in the browser. Year 1988… I love that original layout!

I had a really hard time figuring out which tiles match with others, if they're not the standard ones. And the artwork was a bit weird... I found myself making up names for them. So help me, one of the ones I think is supposed to be a flower actually reminds me of a 10-gallon cowboy hat. And that bird had a scarily blank expression on its face.
I liked the music in this game, though. It's nice and relaxing.

Yes, the original pieces are a bit cluttered, I use different ones. ibb.co/RzzCfGdBut I would really like a feature where you could view already collected pieces, history. If the player wants to finish the game without shuffling, it's a useful feature, one doesn't have to remember all the collected pieces :-)

I think that's part of the experience, though - to remember which sets are already done so you don't need to look for the others. When I have three available I try to find the fourth, so I can be done with them all and forget about them.

With JM games it doesn't matter, as long as you can shuffle at any time.

On behalf of ashmoor and the rest of the Suricate Software team, would like to announce that the newest Jewel Match M3, JM Origins 2, will be releasing on Steam on April 21. This one has just one huge castle to build in each map so there are only 2 castles, but you get to go inside the buildings and furnish the rooms, which I found more eye-catching than the outsides anyway. Mechanics of the netted pieces are better than they were in Aquascapes IMO. Tips guide and partial walkthrough for the trickier spots in levels to come later. Enjoy! [update] Sorry, the earlier link posted is apparently a "placeholder" one, here's the one to use:
And in case anyone's wondering, I was not sent by the developer to do PR for them. I'm doing it as a friend.

Yes, the pieces in the net behave differently. And there are other new things ;-)
And best of all, there are cats everywhere ::)

Oh, I'm looking forward to playing it (again) soon. Too bad I have 3 other games in progress right now plus potentially 2 other projects to beta test soon. So many games, so little time! LOL

SynthpopAddict , only 3 games in progress? Ffffff, I'm almost afraid to look at Steam, BFG, etc... it won't be 33 or 133 games I haven't played :-D It's an extensive game! My wife finished JM Origins 2 yesterday, it took her 48 hours of pure time, completely the whole game, completely everything solved. I haven't finished it yet. I don't want to write more until the game is released. Just only one thing: maximum satisfaction!

For me having 3 games going on in progress with maybe 2 more coming soon is an awful lot because I finish every single game I've ever bought unless the game is just way beyond my ability to play it. So any game I have going on, I play until I complete it - and I enjoy replaying my games if they're good. Some of my favorite games I have played dozens of times. And I have a day job in pharma/healthcare and other things in life outside of gaming. Guess I have a touch of OCD, but this is why I don't use several different gaming sites or I'd go insane in a bad way.
JMO2 took me about that long to fully play through while beta testing and I did both the timed and moves modes along with checking out the game texts and compiling assorted observations, so it took me over 100 hours of work in total. These games you sure get your money's worth, but I sometimes still wish that Suricate would adopt a less bulky game design - they are having to put out games more often just like all the other developers, and as a good friend of one of the designers, I just think this is going to burn everyone out. Never mind that even these wonderful games are falling victim to the cookie-cutter look. The newest JM solitaire game "X" is out at GameHouse, but just from the demo video alone, it looks like what eFunSoft is doing with their M3s. But if you liked JM Sol Summertime, here's more.

unless the game is just way beyond my ability to play it I'd love to know what M3 game you've played that meets this criteria! OMG

unless the game is just way beyond my ability to play it I'd love to know what M3 game you've played that meets this criteria! OMG There are actually several:
Bejeweled in timed mode - never made it past level 8 and I'm not joking Jewel Quest 1
Jewel Quest 2 super hard boards - stuck for years somewhere in chapter 2 and deleted it. Someone posted on the BF forum that they actually completed super hard mode, for which they have my eternal respect. Cradle of Rome 2 CE bonus content - this used to be on WildTangent back when I used that site. Never made it past level 8 or 12, don't recall now. Ended up buying SE from BFG to save my sanity. Cradle of Egypt survival mode on hard - can't win the last 2 trophies, always get stuck somewhere around level 108 and have to get to level 150 for all the trophies...
There are also several snake-type marble poppers which own me. :)
metmichallica I don't know when BF will get the game and probably even the design team isn't sure. Considering how GameHouse got the latest JM Solitaire game out before BF you might get lucky and see it at GameHouse first. No telling what's going on with GH either because another developer I beta for apparently still can't get a hold of anyone at that place so as far as I know hasn't been able to get his latest release out there.

JMS X is officially out? I don't use Gamehouse, only Steam & BFG (indie games).
That game is really HUGE. Compared to JMS Summertime, there are more mechanics added, also another kind of bonus games.
IMHO the most expansive game in the Jewel Match series. Fun for dozens of hours!

SynthpopAddict, I couldn't complete the Cradle of Egypt survival mode on hard either Rolling Along I became so addicted to the endless challenge mode where you had to keep making super fast matches or the timer would run out. I only made it to the level somewhere in the 70's the one that had several columns that were only 1 cell wide until you finally wiggled a match 3 to start breaking other cells open Ripping Hair Out

I never figured out the secret to getting what I call "arrow frenzy" on hard mode in the survival game in Cradle of Egypt - if only I could... Forgot to add the BFG version of The Forgotten Land to my impossible M3s list earlier. Regular M3 levels are a cakewalk but the battles, yikes! So freaking hard the developer put out an easier version of the game on Steam! I made it to level 91 of 96 or 98 levels in the BF version, can't remember exactly how long that game was, but I was so close to the end... [banging head against wall] Sorry ashmoor for derailing the thread. I do hope the other places will get JMO2 out soon as well as JMS X and that they will do well for you. It's hard to keep going in this market, so I admire you and the rest of the Suricate team's fortitude for sticking it out. Going to wait for BF on JMO2 per my earlier post. ;)
